Please Please Please don't rename any of you clothing with the word Jedi in it. All this does is cause a flood of the "Tailor X made a jedi robe for my friend, please make me one now" tells. And then when I explain there is no item called a jedi anything that is currently craftable I get a flood of immature bitching because tailor X renamed theor cloak for some one. Renaming items ina way that describes details or adds the creators' name are fine but don't do this misleading type of stuff and please don't put the word Jedi on your casual III cloaks.

Why? becuse I don't like to put misleading labels on the stuff I make. I don't rename items with names that mislead the buyers and I don't think it's a very honest practice. To call a casual wear 3 cloak a "Jedi Robe" is misleading and inaccurate.

Its not misleading or inacurate. It just requires you use your imagination.

Most people who play this game love the characters from the movies and want to look like them. So some of us go to websites and look at pictures of the cast and come up with outfit combinations to make them look like there hero.

The recipe for a Jedi look is:

Brown Cloak

Trim Lined shirt off white

Crafters pants off white

wrapped boots brown

link steel gloves brown

decorated belt brown

By naming them Jedi Brown Cloak etc it just helps those people figure out what that outfit is. Face, for people who are not tailors, they have no clue what a trim lined shirt or crafters pants are, and by placing the work Jedi in front it provides them the exact outfit they wanted.

I understand the frustration, but as a tailor we should provide them with the look and imagination they need from us.

I ahev no probelm with recreating looks from the movies but I don't agree with renaming stuff at all. I have helped hundreds of people look like their favorite character.

Well I rename smocks,double robes, robes ect. Medical scrubs, Doctor's Dress ect.

The medics like to have things named after their profession

LOL just checked the spam army site, 2k for casual pants with no sockets is just stupid. Hopefully we can inform our customers to examine the item to check for sockets and stats. Feel sorry if a newb actually bought those

When renaming a item I never take out its original name. For example Doctor's White Gunmans Duster, Jedi Brown Cloak, Jedi Crafters Pants Off White etc. That way other tailors can use the ideas to help there sales.

Same with bio-engineer items. I just put Medical, Entertainer or Combat in front of the name, and stats behind it. Like MEDICAL Muscle Shirt White MedUse+12 Inj+12 Wound+12 Sockets 4. Its a super long name, but helps those who dont know how to examine.

Lets face it, we are marketing a product. Can we hate the person who calles a hamburger a Whopper? Simply naming a dress Witch Black, or Sultry Red, or Royal Blue helps it sell better. For Combat Gear matching the color to its intended environment also helps the customer. Naming it Tatooine Sand, Naboo Green, Corellia Fields, Endor Green lets them feel like they are getting something custom for there needs.

Anyone who has worked sales in real life knows when you get lemons you make lemonaide. When they want that "Uber Jedi Outfit" you dont get ticked cause you dont know specifically what they want, you get as much info on what it looked like and go from there. Think of it as one of the more interesting challenges for your craft. Or, just keep getting angry at myself and others who add names as a marketing tool.

I was in agreement with the original poster...but now, I'm not sure. Honestly, marketing, by nature, is dishonest. You are trying to sell an image of something that is more than the sum of its true parts. The same can be said in this game. Now, 2000 for a pair of pants (any pants) is insane. Just because you change the naming of an item doesn't give you the right to gouge. I don't have a problem (especially in store) of displaying a "Jedi" outfit. If someone likes it, they will buy it. If someone asks if it came from a dead Jedi, I will tell them that I made it. I've been doing the same thing myself with Belted Jacket/Striped Slacks/Uniform Boots. I make it look exactly like the ROTJ rebel outfits (yes complete with man boobs...see my other thread), and I tout the outfit as such. I dont change the beginning of the title...it still reads Belted Jacket...but I add "rebel officer" into the title. Even if I took the name out...if my customers had questions about it, I wouldn't lie to them. Marketing exists for a purpose. It exists to give an edge to your product. Don't lie when asked...but I can say, when I have the necessary skills to make the complete jedi outift...I will display and selll at store. I won't gouge anybody. I will likely charge a little more than I would for the components seperately, but I won't gouge. But if you wanted to gouge and you didn't feel guilty, then go for it. You'll either get it sold, or laughed at on this forum.

Gouging = the idiot who was trying to sell Casual Pants (Artisan) for 2k

Inf legs, paramilitary camo's, comfortable slacks, reinforced pants etc often go for 1k-2500 on our server. Thats not gouging, its charging for quality high level work that requires ingredients + factory components.

If someone is stupid enough to think they can build a business charging 2k for casual pants that any artisan can make, they may make a little money now, but not later when they develop a reputation for being dishonest.

The reality of any market is, people will only pay for what they feel is quality work. Until you reach master though, dont ever say you wont sell high level pants for 2k. With all the resources, harvesters, factories, shop, vendor costs, you cant just charge flat rate for materials alone. Dont sell yourself short, leave room for a small profit for your time and expenses. Dont forget resource shifts, harvester replants, trips to other planets to find that pesky titanium aluminum, thoranium steel, green diamond crystalline gems etc.

I meant 2K for pants that I can make up to Casual 2. I don't know what pants above me cost.

Unrelated...I wonder, since they pack the belted jacket for man boobs...I wonder if they pack any of those 2000K pa....er...better I don't finish that statement.
