Thread: the best way to practice *coughgrindcoughcough**
No friggin way man!! Drop those stupid ribbed shirts...
STOP WHAT YER DOIN!! Go up the CASUAL WEAR line as fast as you can - get CLOAKS. Grind those bad boys - same number of clicks as a ribbed shirt, twice the TXP.
But the #1 problem with cloaks is the 50 hide requirement for EACH cloak made. Unless the tailor has an EXCELLENT hide source that provides them with a steady stream of thousands of hides per day, cloaks are not the best option to grind with (20 cloaks=1k hides).
Why?
Because they can use componets a harvest can get you thousands over overnight.
Cloaks give good exp, but require hides.

Really why are you all doing this? I mean, if you don't like tailoring, why do you think you'll like it at the top?

It's not that anyone here doesn't like Tailoring. I believe and I think most other Tailors also believe that Tailoring is a social crafting profession. You sit down with your customer and put something together that's unique and they'll like. Spending time in a corner churning out ribbed shirts isn't what they had in mind for being a Tailor. They may do a little grinding now and then to speed them along to their new level but pretty much want to interact, wait what's that word again? INTERACT with other players. The only reason for getting new skills in their eyes is to be able to give their customer more choices, because there is no difference in function between a rugged jacket and a spec op coat.

I mean, why be a tailor if you're not interested in making clothes that people like? You could be building a clientelle. Making a fortune. Interacting with customers. Um, dare I say... playing the game?
And it's not exactly slow. I just did a level three box in a single day based on backpacks, cloaks, and spec ops dusters. Throw in some lingerie and pairs of pants. Oh and a run of fiber panels done in a factory with that big old 10%.
Here's a tip. You can play your way and I'll play mine. I enjoy being a tailor and I like making all the outfits. If I can grind for an hour a day and make a new tailor level, how does that affect the enjoyment you get?
That's exactly why you have to grind. People want Gunman Dusters (Field Wear IV), people want light bustiers (Casual Wear III), people want Exotic Leotards (Master Tailor). If you don't grind it will be months before you can make the items people want, but by that time they'll have bought their never-degrade items from someone else. So you spend a few hours each night throwing away materiels and grinding away like mad so that you CAN make things people want
I can only make one of the three and that hasn't stopped me from selling things so fast that I can't keep my vendors stocked.
I ditched rib shirts for strapped wookie gloves and cloaks, but then again I also had 15k hide laying around in bags with a steady supply always incoming. It was harder to keep metal then hides. Plus cloaks sell nicely.
