Thread: *sigh* Watch for an influx of AS/Tailors

In my experience, they provide little for a true professional tailor to worry about (apart from lost crate sales, if you're concerned about that.)
And they're unlikely to even try to compete in the clothing market, since they're in the armor business, which has a far higher profit margin. I have seen the occasional "billionaire altruist" tailor, the sort that millions in some other profession, and then say "Oh, I'll make you whatever you want for free" in a crowded cantina, but that sort never seems to last very long.
That is the sort that tailors probably need to concern themselves with. I'm sure there will be a fair share of AS/T's that are like that, and this time they *will* be in it for the long haul (or in it at least until they give up AS).

I haven't made any of the new armor padding yet, but as I understand it, this uses the Tailor experimentation, so by not actually mastering tailor, they would be missing out on 2 experimentation points. I would imagine those extra 2 points we get at master would have a decent impact on the armor padding, so unless the armor padding doesn't have a large role in the final combine of the Wookie armor, I wouldn't be too worried about it.
Even for the ones that do master tailor to be able to make this, I just don't see a Master Armorsmith expanding into actually selling tailor materials, as I believe Bindi pointed out, armorsmith is a much more lucrative profession, especially short-term. (though I bet several Master Tailor's could give them a run for their money on income)
Don't let these armorsmiths push you around. They need to understand if they want the best wookiee segments its going to cost them because of the rare organic resources required, it will take a while for the new changes to sink into their minds so just stay at your price and do other things for a while. It's just that no one is used to paying tailors good money, this is exactly why the devs made us something to sell, so tailors wouldn't be so absurdly poor compared to other crafting classes.Don't worry, these shrewd customerswill come crawling back eventually when the armor economy stabilizes again.

Because thats what you need. And some fiberplast.
Armorsmiths need those resources anyway and normally have big piles of the best the galaxy can offer coming in through already established supply channels.
I believe armorsmiths are not really interested in buying crates of the padded segments but rather in supplying the resources and buying schematics.
Also, although I may be wrong here, the best base you can get is 4% and that is quite easily reached without the best of the best resoures. Of course there are the often rumoured decimals that supposedly could bring you close to a hidden 5% base.
There are also clothing experimentation tapes and they cost only a fraction of what the equivalent armor tapes cost. You can get 2 extra points by that. Of course 12 pt Master Tailors will have a slight advantage, because they can use the extra two points on encumbrance/durability, but as always, the armor customer base is less concerned with encumbrance than with high protection.
And lets not forget that this is just one component. The big gains are still to be found in experimentation on the advanced segments.

Once again, an AS telling us that we are worthless, or don't know how to experiment, etc...
Why don't you just go play with your armour, and leave us alone...either buy these components from us or don't...buying the Schematics and then giving us some small pittance (like the 10K I've been offered) is BS!
You know, Tuanga.. I almost wish I played on Bloodfin, just so I could choose to not buy armor from you.

On a more serious note, I don't know how this is all going to rattle out. I just hit Master last night, and I'm planning on sending out an announcement mailing to my former customers and friends.. but now I'm hesitating, because I don't know if any of them are Armorsmiths now. I mean, it's not like I have a problem with A'smiths, but I just don't want any new headaches.
