I was just wondering if there are other crafters like me that are doing the force stuff just to get another character slot to use as a crafter and merchant?
I do not want to giive SOE any more money a month than I already do so I guess this is my chance to get an extra character on the server.
Might make them a pilot later on though.
I hope they do not change it so you have to use one slot for a jedi.

I have my jedi already (since around christmas) and got the old man to visit me almost immediately. I was attacked by the sith and zipped over to the village to have a peek. The crafter fs skills seem to be nice (for anyone except tailors) to have, and I'm going to go get them. Who knows... I might pick up BE again and make my own tissues. Paying 10k per tissue is getting steep!!! I have to charge 25k to break even with all the multiple tissues in clothes and failures.
Gorath's economy was badly hit everytime a credit dupe was realized.
The repair skill seems to be a possibly nice option too, and being a master dancer as well, I might pick up the healing line, just to add that extra oomph to my healing.... wish it also added mind buff bonuses. That's something that I am just desperate to have. I only have the +5 on the dance leotards...

Yes I am going to try to unlock my second slot as you I just want a second character. The only real issue is trying to find the spare skill points to unlock it. In some ways tailors are luckly out business is hand making clothes so crafting xp we will gain as part of our day to day busines. However the jedi crafting bonuses are a waste of time for us. I guess you cant get everything.

well, here is how I may end up doing it... My main char is a 2 time former tailor... I just love it, I only gave it up because I also love being a swordsman/ranger.. So, I started a second account just to be a master tailor again because, again, I love the profession
. I think that if I unlock the second slot I may turn that into the old tailor/merchant (however, I dread working up the tailor skilltrees for a fourth time
) and then just save myself 15 dollars a month... OR I may keep my dedicated tailor since he's been around a little while now and make the second slot the Swordsman/Ranger I sooo enjoy...
yes, much pondering I have ahead... hmmm

have access to 6 other accnts which ii can make any character i feel like on, so i wont be doing the quest, also FS skills look pointless to tailor, and not usefull 'enough' to my BE to be worth worrying about, and ive no interest in jedi whatsoever since its just combat

I would love to go after and open a second character slot and make my second character a Jedi.
A couple of problems though with this...
1. I am a pure crafter/merchant/dancer with NO combat skills, so getting the required elements to 'glow' are impossible.
2. If I ever got to glowy and the old man came, how would I protect myself against the Sith? I would have NO way to defend myself.
3. I really do not want to drop any skills in favor of new ones...
so I guess it leaves me out.

I've got a toon who's begun the village quests, but with two accounts and the three toons per on TC I'm in no real hurry to unlock anything. Plus I don't really have any interest in being a jedi, so I kind of lack motivation.
But eventually I'll unlock my 7th and 8th character slots, if only to be able to have more versatile templates at my disposal should I decide I want to play them.

I'm definitely going for it because I love crafting but I also love fighting. Crafting is nice b/c when I can't find a doc I can craft and fill my vendor. (Just moved into a mall and business is booming). So getting that second slot will allow me my fighter and crafter. Having to split between the 2 limits your points. Having a master merchant will be nice.
Getting a second slot will let me go down the Carbineer/Ranger tree and get my own hides.
On a related note, I think the current path to Jedi is the worst idea ever and I would be just happy without any Jedi running around. Too bad we can't go back to the old way when SWG first started. No one had any clue how to become a Jedi. Yes we're playing SW now, but it's not SW like we know and love it.

I know, didn't they say it'd be possible for crafters to work for a jedi too? I guess I should have known better than to believe that considering the source.
There was a time (long, long ago) when a Jedi character seemed appealing and the path sounded interesting. Of course, that system appearently never really existed in the first place. Now, I'd just like my extra character slot like everyone else.

Really you could probably do the combat parts with very little combat skills.Just drop a little merchant and grab 24 skill points worth of unarmed combat or something.
Then you can get the glowy and kill a couple sith with a buff.
Then drop the 24 skill points as you level up to jedi as you will need to spend 24 skill points to unlock your slot.
Once you get to the village you can craft your way tojedi as far as I have seen.
Just a few low level quests to get glowy and a few low level sith to get to the village. Nothing a brawler or a marksman couldn't handle. As I said, you will evetually need to spend 24 skill points anyway so you might as well free those points up now and get a few fighting skills.
Don't get me wrong, I still hate the system and really want to quit the game because of it.
I am just saying that the stuff you have to do as far as combat is really novice basic stuff to get to the village.

Same for me Chiana but I'm pure artisan, master tailor, merchant and artisan with a bit of novice armoursmith thrown in.
I'm not prepared to take a combat skill just to open my extra character slot or get my guild to 'baby-sit' me in order to glow.
Luckily for me I have an alt (we needed the lots for a guild hall/store) so I can experiance the FS quests without neglecting my customers by putting Kel to work on them.

Can it really be that easy? I would have assumed a couple sith together would be able to take a few punches from the fair hands of a Tailor.

Eh, I don't think I'll be going for any FS skills on my tailor. But, I am going for the second slot/Jedi on one of my other accounts. I have no clue what I'll do with that 2nd slot character though, I already have 4 accounts. lol But hey, it will take me at least 6 months to get to padawan anyways, so I have time.
Btw, a bit OT: Am I nuts...? Or did they change the sleeves on Sports Wraps? I hadn't payed any attention until I saw one on some girl yesterday and thought "wow, that looks better than it used to". My whole thing about sports wraps was the sleeves, they didn't come down the arm, and poked out on the shoulders like wings. That's why I never wore them, the wings annoyed me. But yesterday, I made one and put it on and stared at it for a good 10 minutes. They HAD to of fixed it. It even has some graphical glitches that I never noticed before too, like they just did a half-ass job on making the sleeves come down more.
Anyways....so am I crazy? Anyone else noticed this? I'm sorry if it's been mentioned already, but I didn't see anything.
