Thread: Wookiee Flightsuits

having perused the JtL boards for more than enough time to drive a normal wookiee insane, i have decided to go ahead and ask the experts for their opinion...

with the introduction of wookiee armor it has been made clear that, indeed, wookiees can wear pants... and with the development of JtL, we will soon find out that wookiees can actually travel in space... i'd like to take this opportunity to propose that tailors then get schematics for a new type of wookiee clothing: a wookiee flightsuit...

i know the developers have a hard time coming up with new artwork on the fly, but i also know they have trouble fitting clothing to the wookiee body... as an alternative to new artwork, i might reccomend the Heavy Flightsuit...

for a long time i've been a fan of the Heavy Flightsuit... probably the only article of clothing in the game that was made with a race's peculiar outfitting in mind... i see no reason why this suit should not fit a wookiee similar to the way it fits a trandoshan, with a bit of tweaking to the meshes... afterall, wookiees are allowed to wear jedi robes (when perhaps they shouldn't, by the way it looks... /shudder)

whether the developers decide to take us up on this by creating a new schematic or by tweaking an old schematic, i do not mind... but i would like to see some sort of "space suit" for wookiees, preferably not made from wood...

i know that this is not necessarily your fight, tailors... but i hope you will back me up on this... n'Jessi, maybe you can look passed my ranger background and pass this on to the devson behalf of all the "wookiees in space"

I think Wookiee's will get more clothing eventually. Would be nice if it was sooner, but I've seen concept art for the Wookiee's and Kashyyyk on the Star Wars website (Hyperspace) and a lot of nice stuff for Wookiee's in Episode III

I'm pretty sure in a situation like this, they'd have to completely redo the flightsuit model. The wookiee body is built on a fundamentally different framework... that's why we can't wear crafting aprons. They can't just tweak them to fit, they have to completely do them over (which I'd wish they'd get around to).

A wookiee flightsuit's not a bad Idea, but it'd be nice for it to be unique to wookiees anyway, I think. We have so few wearables already.

chewie was never in a fighter though..(mainly because their are height and weight restrictions on that..aka can't be over like 6feet 6inches..)

anycase a wookie flight suit would probably be a good idea...as well as some fighter helmets and such for other species

hi there, tailors!.. i'm back, and i'm going to try to clear up a few misconceptions about wookiees and their fashion stereotypes... thanks to those of you who have responded so far...

absolutely correct, they would have to redesign the models... but we do know that models can be wook-friendly and stillbe useableto other species because of things like the jedi robes andchef clothing (just don't weararm wraps or your hands'll disappear!)... i have no idea what would be easier for the art team, but i know i would be happy with either a new wookiee-only flightsuit or merely access to a pre-existing one... i'm sure you tailors would prefer the former, but even the latter would provide you with a little extra market...

quoth ItemCreator:

I would love to be able to make more wookiee clothing, even a flightsuit, but don't wookiees go into space with just their fur?
I don't remember much of the original films (and, thank goodness, I've saved from watching them until the dvds) but wasn't Chewy 'naked' in space?

firstly, Chewbacca is a rare case even among us wandering wookiees... as Chewbacca was at one time a slave, oppressed by the empire and the trandoshan aggressors, he goes through great lengths to distinguish himself and reaffirm his wookiee heritage... his being nakedcan almost be seen as eccentric display of his wookiee-hood, brought on by the years of his forced subservience...
secondly, in thestory of "The Millenium Falcon and the Space Slug," Chewbacca as well as Han Solo and Leia Organa, are seen walking out of the Falcon into an unsupported environment with no form of survival gear on, save an oxygen mask... keep in mind, this was a dramatazation... at least, i believe it to be one.. i have not yet tested whether my fur will keep me safe in the cold, black oblivion, and for now i would rather trust in a flight-suit...

right on!!..

and now... the degrading part... to gain a skimmer's attention, i shall use this display:

HAWTPANTS!

as a frequenter of the ranger forum, i have been made aware of the current war between tailors and rangers... i will not disclose to which side of the fence i consider myself on, but i will make a deal with you...

if you will join me and take up the fight for getting wookiee flightsuits, i will humiliate myself in front of my peers in the ranger forum... i will advocate hawtpants by performing a song and dance... to get wookiee flightsuits put into this game would mean so much to me, that i am willing to almost anything for it...

please don't let my sacrifice be in vain...

Given the lengths to which you have gone to get this, you have my support. Even if that doesn't mean much on this forum (as a Ranger), I can see you really want this. And it would look cool anyway.

do you hear that tailors?... now i will be hunted for sport at the next Great Ranger Meet, and when captured i will be dyed pink -the ultimate ranger punishment... my humiliation will be complete...

and yet, even those who i have alienated have shown that they find the cause worthy... thank you Nemo0... Lythender is by far the coolest bothan i have ever seen... i hope that someday he will have his very own specialbothan starfighter helmet (i'm sure the current models are quite restrictive)... wookiee flightsuits are just a starting place... DragonFire said it best when he called for more...

perhaps i chose the wrong time to act... with n'Jessi away there is no one to rally the troops... i certainly hope it is not because the suggestions are unwanted..

regardless, i hope everyone has a good weekend, and the correspondants get a lot done at the summit... see you guys in a bit...
