Thread: How rude!

I'd like to relate something that happened to me the other day. I'm not sure what I want out of this, but feel that I've got to tell the tale to someone other than my wife.

I'm a novice tailor on Chilastra. I have yet to get any other boxes. So, among other things, I make smocks and put them on the bazaar for 1000 credits.

A couple days ago, someone bought one - not unusual, but I noticed that the name in the e-mail was feminine, so I kept it in my mind, expecting something more to happen. I was right, but I never expected the reaction I got! I get a *very* angry tell from "Woman X" stating that I conned her and owe her 5 dresses. Since I try to angle the ad line in the product description for men (though I don't explicitly state that smocks can only be worn by men) and she only bought 1 smock, I was a bit shocked. I asked her "5 dresses?" to which she replied 2 from me and 3 from someone else. I'm still a bit mystified where the 2 came from, but reply to her that I show that she bought a smock, that smocks are male-only clothing, and based on her name I assumed she was a female and could not wear it. I also let her know that I'd be glad to make her a dress or give her a refund for the smock. She quickly responded that she was a female and had no idea that she couldn't wear it and wanted a refund immediately! I went ahead and shot her a bank tip for the 1k (receiving no thank-yous or even a softening of her attitude). A bit later, I run by the bazaar and see that she has put it back on the bazaar...for 3k! After demanding a refund of her initial 1k investment. I ask her why she demanded a refund if she was going to resell it for 3 times what she paid for it, and she said that she'd pay me half if it sold.

Now the money's not much of a concern to me. I've got plenty. However, I pride myself on excellent customer service (like most here). Also the smock has my name in its name, and though she is the seller, most people aren't going to notice that fact and I don't want to be thought of as price-gouging. Do I bite the bullet and drop 3k to buy my own smock back to get it off the bazaar?

Thesolution that immideatly came to my mind would to be to load up the bazaar she put it on with smocks at 1k (make one the same color), but that's not what I would do.

Personally, I don't care about price gougers, as long as they arn't doing somthing like buying out my entire vendor to resell it all. I know that people frequently sell clothing via the bazaar, soI've resigned myself to the fact that a) some of it will be mine, and b) some of it will be priced gouged.

My concern is less that she's gouging, and more that *my* name is attached prominently to it.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about resellers. Some tailors, however, have been known to put the price in the item description, if this has been a problem, so resellers are identified promptly.

Also, in items which are ambiguous about gender-specificity, I will put a "Male only" or "female only" in the item description (unis*x is censored, /rolleyes). Mostly for smocks, sports wraps, and flared jackets which are unclear. Bustiers... well they're on their own if they can't figure that one out.

Get a female friend to buy the smock from that person, then demand her money back because she can't wear it. A taste of her own medicine!

I'm just kidding, by the way.

I only give refunds if customers return the item to me in pristine condition. Your mistake was not to demand that she return the smock to you if she wanted a refund.

Hehehe, well, actually, if it were *me* I'd put a couple of smocks that same color at 2995

Usually when I put a gender-specific item on the bazaar for sale, I make sure I always add a disclaimer in the description area

It surrounds us and penetrates us.

It doesn't matter much really, I see my clothes on sale in bazaar all the time from people who don't use them anymore, even at crazy prices. I think most people know that most clothes sold in bazaar are not sold by their creator (you can just check who is the seller anyway).

So... which items are gender-specific that might come as a surprise? Is the flared jacket really female-only? That's bizarre.
