Thread: IMPORTANT change to BE clothing!

From release notes:

"BioEngineer Bioengineers component stacking Tailor Component stacking. Effects from SEPERATE slots will now stack correctly. A MAXIMUM of 6 effects can exist per final crafted item. "

Ok I think this means that multiple slot clothing stacking for similar components is back in, i.e. +25 mods in a single item is back in. Now I wonder if this will also apply to one slot of mutliple factory components, so two identical +13 synth cloth will max out that skill in one slot?

What do other people infer from this release note?

It states SEPARATE slots so I would think a stack oftwo +13 sny cloth would only equal+13 not +26. However Im trying to think of what item would have 6 SEPARATE slots for moddable cloth .. off the top of my head I cant think of one.

Two identical components won't stack, but two similar tissues in two different slots will.

So a gunman duster will only keep the bonus of one tissue, while a pleated skirt will have both, just to sum up. It's nice, except that I am pretty worried about whether or not they fixed it so the cap appears. If they didn't, we're going to see tailors sell some 45 medic smocks for tons, just because nobody is aware of the cap, and tailors that will sell some 28 smocks will lose business. I will enjoy making some 25 med items though, but for sure won't enjoy seeing people asking for 40 ones or 25 bleed resist stuff. Sigh.

For the 6 effects things, it prolly includes the mods coming from socket tapes as well, so it doesn't really concern us in particular but everyone.

I think the note is fairly clear (either that or completely misleading, hehe, I'll know which one it is after I try it).

The overall effect of this, I believe, is that now we'll be able to make any of a dozen or so items which will allow us to achieve a +25 medical bonus in a single item. Period. And that is fairly uselss anyway. Reason? Because when someone orders a jacket/pants/shirt combo, like they all do, you're going to be able to max out the med bonus anyway, whether or not you can do it in 1 piece. It's the other bonuses that are tougher to max out, and this change doesn't help us at all with those since there are no items with multiple RFP slots.

So, net effect of this imho is just about zilch.

So can a spec ops duster have a RFP of Tensile tissue AND a RFP of Coagulant tissue, as welll as a Synth Cloth of Biosensor tissue?

I appreciate the confirmation/reponse to this question....

Well, it means they can have more variety in their clothing, anyhow. I've been working with a customer who specifically wanted a Doctor's Dress with the medical enhancement, and she'll be happy to know about this change. (And she didn't like any of the hats that take synth cloth.)

Might not make much difference for the pure powergamer, but it opens up at least a few more possibilities for customers who have some fashion sense.

Hmm, interesting, and you have a point, but I can also see the other side of it. For example, if a wookie wants medical bonus now, they generally buy hood/shoulder pad/waist wrap combinations or perhaps a hood/smock combination where as a tailor you get a lot of control over the "coordinated look". Now, I can just see a lot of requests for "sage's hood +60 medical" rather than buying a complete coordinated outfit.

And I thought there was no way explaining how this stuff works to my customers could be any more difficult...

I can just see lots of people buying some 60 clothing for insane prices just because they don't know that there is a 25 cap too. Thanks for developpers who didn't think it would be a good thing to let people know.

Oh you nailed this one - I will have to write a macro just to answer the questions coming up on these changes

Hehe I empathise. I was too excited about mounts to try this tonight but I would like to see how multiple synth cloth slots work. e.g. two med factory + two CH slots....

This really isn't much of a boost to be honest. Right now only clothing with synth cloth allows for you to double up and stack the tissue bonus. So this is good news for entertainers and medics who can have a +25 treatment or healing pair of hot pants or wookiee wear.

But for defense/combat tissues? Nada, not a single schematic comes to mind where reinforced panels are allowable for two different slots. So we are stuck with the +18 max (if you get some nice tissue) on any RFP garment, yet synth cloth garments can go much higher.

I've got some +24 treatment garments for sale, and I get people asking if I can do the same for +bleed, stun etc. Kind of a shame to let them know the semi-bad news.
