Umm I'm all for new headwear, but a cowboy hat? I didn't think there were any cowboys in Star Wars, just nerf herders.

Keep it Star Wars, keep it real, keep it fun.

I don't know about any cowboy hats, but I would like to see a wide-brim, low-crown hat. Since hats like this are very functional, it would be logical that this type of hat would be developed by someone in the galaxy. The wide brim keeps the sun out of your eyes, and the low crown prevents it from getting blown off....

This is what I think every time someone says ' it isn't Star Warsy' or 'it would ruin immersion'

What we saw and see in the movies is such a tiny glimpse of the whole universe, why couldn't/wouldn't shouldn't there be what we see as normal items there?

I am all for even baseball caps (maybe not with the plastic band around back, but the general idea) and stillettos.

Surely somewhere out there folks are slashing together bits and strips or finely weaving material for such things..

I know I would be.

these hats would make it fun for alot of people. why have headwraps and sunguards then if they also are worn today on planet earth? to me, it makes alot more sense to have some "professional" looking hats for our characters. if i am wearing a modern looking outfit, why would i wear some wicker hat? the hats already in game are fine, just not my character's style. i would like to block the sun with something more stylish. More headwear would certainly be fun. if your gonna say wearing a "cowboy hat" is breaking your immersion, then we should also take away the ithorian newsboy hat. we should also take away the warm hats. i hate people running around looking like santa. it would most likely not break immersion.

Actually, I disagree, it does break immersion. And yes, the Newsboys Hats should be gotten rid of. I don't think the warm hats look all that much like any I see for sale at the mall, but I don't like how they look anyway, so feel free to nix all those too.

Star Wars is science fiction, not spagetti western. We should be seeing a plethera of helmets, visors, breathing aparatus, more zenomorphic headgear.... not cowboy hats and baseball caps.

And seriously... most characters out there have the Composit Armor they wear 24/7 to keep the sun off their ID-made ivory skin... when you never take that off what's the point of any hat?

Personally I see nothing wrong with having a cowboy hat or other "modern" items. If you don't want to wear these items because it doesn't fit into your characters image then simply don't purchase them. If it would make other players enjoy their gaming experience more than by all means let them enjoy it their way. After all, we all pay our 15 bucks a month to enjoy our gaming experience. We each have different views on what makes a game "enjoyable", so I say to each their own.

While it is true they could 'possibly' have been developed somewhere in the starwars universe, there is no evidence of these developments in any of the roleplay sourcebooks ive read (i play the starwars roleplay table top game on occassion )

and it would for me, lessen the already slight atmosphere starwars galaxies has simply because of that.

Infact hats of any kind dont seem to be a part of starwars much to be honest, from all ive seen in many many pictures.

Rather than hats, i see cyber implants and such Mechanical limb.... mechanical eye.. visor's etc.

I'm shocked that you want to crush our long, flowing, large 70's hair under a big fat hat

no, i want to crush MY long flowing hair under a hat. you got me tough- If they did make visors and more futuristic headwear, i probably wouldnt care so much for "modern" hats. If they do ever make such things ( hopefully customization down to the color of lenses and all) theni hope they make plenty. the problem with the headwear of all kinds, is that there isnt enough. But by chance the visors and rebreathers or other kinds of mask types arent my style STILL, then i would still want some hats. the more options, the less chance you get sick of seeing everyone wearing one type over the other.
