When the combat revamp comes, no soloing = no fun.
EDIT: I don't just mean elders and krayts, and all that good stuff, im talkin about rancor lairs, i heard its going to take about 20 tkm's to kill a rancor lair

Isn't the point for us to want to play SWG not KOTOR... The devs are going to make everyone want to leave this game. I think there goal is to make everyone want to stay therefor they get more money but I belive its going to backfire.

When I have to rely on other people in order to have fun in a video game then you know something's going to be wrong.
It takes groups FOR FREAKING EVER to get ready for an event, let alone get all of them online at the same time.

been a swordsman for months and soloing stuff is quite frankly dull ... don't you all realise that the second M in MMORPG stands for 'Multiplayer' ?
When SOE set out to write a multiplayer Star Wars game, their only mistakewas that the unbalanced combat system allowed soloing in the first place. Taking it out of the game is a massive step forward for the community in my opinion.
If its soloing you want, there are plenty of other games out there.

There's a huge differense between not being able to solo at all and not being able to solo everything.
While you definately shouldn't be able to solo the high end stuff like krayts and nightsisters, you should be able to solo missions you can pull on your own for example. I think and hope this is the way the devs are doing it.

More than likey there will be soloing still but you'll have to rely on strategy, combat skill, and medical skills. It amazes me how there's no mission out there that you can pull off of the terminals that can't be soloed without ever healing yourself.
Groups take forever to form because there's no need to form one right now. When solo groups were around it was extremely easy to start a group. To top it off you can master up to 2 elite and one minor profession or a hybrid mix to cover many areas and shortfalls(and I dont mean defense stacking).

I gotta agree to a degree, and disagree to a degree.
On one hand, we be able to do stuff like hunting for meats (even on endor, yavin, etc) solo. We should be able to handle mid level mobs solo. We should even be able to handle a single nightsister up to a spellweaver solo.
But beyond that we should need groups. But not groups of 20, or even 10. Everyone knows how much a disaster these are. It takes everyone 45 mintutes to get going and get ready, another 20 to get buffed, another 20 minutes to get to the place were going, and thats assuming you dont have the guy who jumps off his bike to try to solo an elder with TKM. Then you gotta rez him, get him more buffs, etc, etc, etc, turning your enjoyable group hunt into a logistical disaster.
No large groups. Groups of 2-3 ppl should be able to handle anything short of the DWB or corvette, or like over 8 nightsisters at once. Make the game a challenge, dont make it so hard that we have to drag 30 ppl with us to take down a nuna lair.

Sorry did i miss something...soloing = killing stuff on your own right? Ok...so go to dant, get a Pikket mission and go solo, or better yet go to the Force Crystal Hunter cave if you want a challenge solo...now if its money from solo you want, go frikkin ranger, track down what resources someone wants, kill a load of stuff on your own, harvest the goods, sell the goods to the person, tadaa. Stop bloody moaning, MMORPG funnily enough doesnt stand for "w00t lets go kill stuff on our own and get loads of cash to spend on...ermmm...stuff"

Moosemanuk,
There are also lots of games out there that force you to group to do anything. Those games are not well known because they are not well played. People do not join games to have to group with someone else just to build a little xp. Anarchy Online is a good example of this. Also, multiplayer does not in anyway imply grouping. It means more than 1 person can play in the same world, thats all. Different people have different play styles. Some like to group, some like to solo. That is why there are solo classes like ranger and bounty hunter. I do not think you should have to be forced to group just to be able to play the same game as everyone else.
Now, before you start complaining, I do not believe that a single character should be able to solo everything in the game. I think there should be a limit to what a single person should be able to kill. That limit is NOT set to a duma. You should be able to face a rancor on your own. An enraged rancor should take some help, and an ancient rancor bull should take several people. But what I think people are talking about is that SOE is going to make it where you have to group to kill anything above the most simple MOBS, and I think that is wrong. If you are so dead set about wanting a game where you are forced to group, then perhaps Anarchy online is more for you. Otherwise, let those of us who like to solo alone.
"Everyone dies sometime. The question is do you die doing what you enjoy?"

I know nothing about SOE's Combat upgrade, but as I read these posts I am a little scared.
First thing is that I mostly rely on myself, but its clear that no one should beat everything in the game alone. And as someone stated here before, large groups are nightmare. People want to actually play the game, not to wait for another 10 other people to move out when going on somewhat bigger hunt.
I remeber my first and last try of Corvete mission. We waited one hour till we meet before that damn shuttle, then another half hour Doctor was buffing people. When finally inside the Corvete, we encouter two war droids with 150k HAM together with two some Imp soldiers with over 70k HAM and half the group die instantly. I call that unnecessary tough mission.
SOE should make some changes to the combat proffesions, so people can play the game. Maybe the HAM special cost system should be altered in some way too. Just an idea.
