Thread: What goes good with the Master Swordmen?
From what I have read most people are going Marksmen or Commando.
I was thinking about....
Master Swordmen/ Creature Handler
--OR--
Master Swordmen/ Ranger
Input would be greatly apprciated.
I was thinking,
Master: Brawler, TKA, Swordsman
and in Scout: Exploration IV Alien Exploration Training; Trapping IV Elite Martial Design.
any good or a waste of time?
My ideas with the build are,
Master TKA for all the additional defenses.
Master Brawling for extra skills (useful?) and additional bonuses to hit.
Scout Exploration IV alien exploration training: In order to better chase those running from me.
Scout Trapping IV Elite Martial Design: To Sticky those who run and lower their melee defenses.
...i'm pondering going up the tka tree to novice tka just for /meditate...lol
Basically i think about going for a ranged profession once i reached Master.
Want to be perepared in case i get pvp'd one day by a ranged profession who thinks he/she can get me from a distance ![]()
Master Swordsman/Ranger
Main reason is because as i go out i play a good role of support as well as dealing major damage. Plus if you are on your own it helps to have the Ranger skill i always figured.
To get back to the original question, a Master Swordsman/Creature Handler might be interesting. But be aware that the majority of pets damage the Health pool while I believe the Swordsman special attacks focus more on the Mind pool. Scattering your attacks across different pools itsn't really very wise. I've heard rumours of a bat/bird on Lok that attacks the mind pool but you don't want to base your long terms plans on a rumour.
A Master Swordsmen/Ranger might be interesting but there's not a lot in Ranger that compliments and supports a Swordsman skills. The camps aren't really that much better than your Scout level camps, there are only two more traps (I've heard a rumour that they aren't even working either) and the camouflage skill would be more useful for a sniper than a swordsman (it's useful but not quite to the level you're invisible and can do a Ninja whomping on critters
). If you're Tanking a lot in groups maybe Rescue (a mega Taunt)would be handy but that's all I can really see there for you
Starting out Scout is useful for just about everyone. The traps weaken the creatures and camps help you heal in the field. Cross training medic and entertainer to heal your wounds in the field is smart until you need the points elsewhere. With all the traps and camps you'll be making, Artisan general crafting points will be as common as dirt and it might be fun to create a Master Swordsman who crafts his own weapons and armor. I'd also say Chef would be a good craft to master if the buffs they provide are as good as some people say. Slice and dice the critters than slice and dice them a little more to make Sushi
.
One last piece of advice. In SWG you'll never paint yourself into a corner. If you make a choice you think is bad you can always surrender the points and try something different. So head whatever direction you want to go, secure in the knowledge you can change direction if you see a better path later on.

I'm glad to see I'm on the same page as some of you, especially with some of the less popular combo's like Swordsman/Squad Leader with no other ranged and Swordsman/Chef.
I was thinking that it would be a bad idea to mix Swordsman with any other combat profession for one simple reason: any combat you do that isn't with a two-hander is slowing down your progress towards Master Swordsman and face it you really need those bonuses and special attacks that you get up in the Swordsman tree as soon as possible.
Right now, I'm doing alot of Scout (was thinking about Creature Handler, but it seems like every kid and snot-nosed show-off friend are doing it and have super-uber pets, so maybe not...), Medic (a swordsman's best friend is a stimpack) and Engineer-type crafting (what can I say, I love houses and all that junk).
Scouting goes hand-in-hand with all that wilderness xp'ing, so it's a great match. Changing up the xp grind with crafting is a great way to break the monotony of non-stop fighting, plus it gives you a chance to rest and not be bored.
In the end, I'll probably have some Scouting, decent Medic (enough First Aid to stop bleeding, what a pain that is), and either Architect or Chef (buffs are great, although the food trees all seem the same to me).
Does anyone know if Bioengineer is a fun class? It sounds cool, but it doesn't seem as if the product is very desirable. Although as a solitary Swordsman, I could really careless about what other people wanna buy ![]()
I was messing around with the charater builder... What do you think of this?
Master Brawler/Swordsman
Then pick skills that add to defense in pole, fence, and unarmed?
