I am all but feed up with the Swordsman. One of my biggest complaints is we die most all the time when in groups whilst the range weapons rake in the easy exp. For I have nothing against working hard to make it in this game but as it is now the game balance is solely in the hands of the range weapons. If you do not believe me try being a melee in PvP...you will be owned easy.

For as it stands now I am a novice 2handed swordsman and novice ranger, but after today I might become marksmen/ranger.

Anyone give me some REALLY good reasons as to why bother going the way of the sword..for in this game it is all about range. Heck if I were to go marsman and pull with a rifle if the mob comes close I can finish it off rather easy with a hand gun.

Thx

Well...

My biggest beef is that medics in groups are more interested ingaining ranged xp then healing the tanks. As time goes by hopefully people will learn their role with grouping. Tanks stay up front taking all the damage, while dishing out damage. Ranged stay back and peck away while not getting hit. Medics heal the tanks and maybe get a little ranged xp.

I'm not dissing all medics. I have grouped with a few excellent ones.

well I just feels that this game is not very group friendly. First off, the medic that wants to get medical xp just either sit at the hospital or run around town with their droids and hardly even group. Which makes the tanks die very easily. The only benefit that i see in grouping is the little bonus u get in xp and thats the only reason ppl group. There is no communication whithin the group channel at all, usually only "Can anyone heal my bleeding?" or can anyone here teach me <skill>?"

Then you are joining the wrong groups. I have been grouping on Eclipse, and chat is lively, medics know how to keep everyone (even the swordmen) alive and tanks and blasters know how to kill the mobs.

Great xp too. 20k an hour easy

No, I was going to be a marksman until I saw the light and equipped a heavy axe. I will probably hit novice swordsman this weekend, and I plan to pursue the long hard road to master swordsman.

i know what you mean in the PVP but im still going to try and develop a strategy in order to be a good pvper.

other than that i use my rare skills to impress people. taking out 5 or 6 mobs by myself and at once. other than that. man the game is run by ranged right now. when our weapons get better then we will se who runs things

If you think we are weak in PvP, you are DEAD wrong! Once you get a good weapon, and 2H hit 2, you will be able to one shot people left and right. In 1 on 1 duels against a ranged person in the open, you will most likely lose, yes. But in real combat, it's very easy to get the jump on a ranged person, due to the fact that their attention is not on you solely, if at all. Also, if you are fighting in town, or near obstacles such as housesor rocks, you can often use them to your advantage to kill a ranged person. For example, if someone tries to kite you in town, just run inside a building, or at least around a corner. Then they will have to come to you if they wish to attack you further, which will usually give you the chance to hit them.

I'd say I kill about 5 players to every one of my deaths...honestly. Yesterday night, I managed to kill 14 rebels, and only died twice, and both of those times were basically kamikazee deaths (I did get killed twice after going LD, but those don't count.). But....I will credit much of this to the lack of skill of many of the players, and I'm sure once their skills improve, things will get more and more difficult. But we will still befar from weak.

And I also feel that most swordsman are neglecting what I feel to be our most powerful line....offense. 2H area hit 2 is extremely powerful, and 2H area hit 3 is just insane. I've killed 5 players in one swing before. It's also incredible in PvE, especially against melee NPC's. I must say....taking down so many at once with these attacks, is just plane beautiful.

A good swordsman isvery feared by his enemies.

Just remember....if someone tries to kite you, just run the other way. You may not be able to kill them, but at least you won't be pushing up daisies!

i dont know what sever u guys r on but there are medics out there that want to group. I am one of them since i have yet to actually heal ppl in a med center since day 3 . I am however in groupd with purely marksamn since we own all. I have been in a grp with brawlers only twice in my medical career. They never died and where always at full health becuase of me and my frineds healing. we are almost master medic and marksman . the only problem i have when it did come to brawler types is that the incap themselves or get incapped pretty easily because of low mind and high ham cost for moves . if u need a medic u should either find ones like me (always doing destroy missins) or offer the medics resources to come with and keep u alive.. Medics who are guarnteed some hides will definatley go with u so they can get a ton of med exp and crafting exp .

I am a master doctors and love the brawler class. So much infact that my secondary class is a swordman . As said earlier people will learn their role in a group . Me personally let marksmen die because they like to runor shoot too early and gain agro from the tank . Tank is # 1 priority in every group. Give it time and get a good medic and there (in my opinion) is no better class in PvE.

I think for the moment, your absolutly right. I though of this too. Like all brawler, swordman is a pretty hard class. First of all, we never take avantage of loopholes in the game, like shooting birds across the hole in the dungeon (wich was like shooting a fish in a barrel!!) and shooting at very slow creatures. Our XP is very hard to gain so that marksman get better faster than us.

The only good reason that i give you its wait for the shield power generator and better armor. Once thoses babys will be out and fonctionning, range weapons will be a lot less effective. In city combat, killing people with one hit ( with like a long vibro Axe) will be sweet. Killing a lot of creature around you in a move is cool too.

Just hope the dev will encourage the brawler class a little morebecause if they dont, SWG will be a marksman game with a fews jedi exception ...

Oh yeah, I do plan on picking up novice rifleman...I have nothing better to spend the skill points on, every noncombat profession that isn't totally broken has been taken over by tons of players who are all clones of each other.

Just a hint so take this as you want.............don't get into any PvP until your up in the swordsman food chain and once you are pick your fights.........I win just about every PvP in buildings and when in a group I usually do pretty good...............once you get up the ladder in Swordsman your a pretty potent fighter..........
