hmm, yet another well debated topic.

i think it would go just as well with either class. but swordsman would be my choice for the dual weild, or if not swordsman a whole new brawler class that needs fencing and swordsman skills.

I don't agree. Dual wielding is for a fencer as it about finess. Two handed sword is about brute power.

Leave dual wielding for the dandys ....

Dandys? Ill admit that fencers are lame dandys lol, BUT dual weilding should be for us and not them. We are the STRONG swordsmen not the WEAK dandys. Thus we have the strength needed to weild two swords. Ever seen kenshin the anime? Well toward the middle of the series theres this guy who weilds a kobai ashi with 2 hands. Kobai ashi is a sword smaller then a katana but bigger than a dagger. Basically mid ranged sword. Well this guy eventually gets pissed and starts weilding two of them to get more powerfull. AND NEVER was the man doing dandy pissant stabbing attacks. So you and everyone on your side of this debate is just completely wrong, seeing as how fencers arent even strong enough to lift 2 swords at the same time, let alone fight with them.

ROFL!! Using an anime as an example

Don't get me wrong, I like dual wielding. The idea of a HEAVY swordsman to me is wielding a single MASSIVE weapon. While it would be amusing to see a wookie wielding two scythes, Idon't think this is going to happen anytime soon.

If there was only one 'Sword' profession then I would agree with your suggestion but the devs have included two. Dual Wielding should be for Fencers.

you got it wrong a swordsman should be able to use a 1 handed sword as good as a heavy 2h sword so why couldn't he hold 2 one handed words in his hand.

Next update SOE puts out option to put 2h on a 1 handed sword so u can switch back and forth. *they would do it to you know they would *

Well, swordsman are primarily 2-handed weapon users. Their brawler line is even called that. Their skill mods and specials are are even called that. It makes basically no sense to me that they would dual wield. Not that I don't want more content for swordsmen, this just isn't the way to go.

Meanwhile, fencing is where dual wielding has, actually, been done in the real world. Fencing is about smaller weapons and finesse and it just many times more realistic that fencers would get dual wield.

I'd say use the drive to get something like dual wielding and apply it elsewhere.

What about the fact that Heavy Swordsman is the profession that *supposedly* can use lightsabers? And in the movies, Jedi's can use two lightsabers at once? Are they fencers or heavy swordsmen? We really don't know but according to this game, they are heavy swordsmen.

Broad swords, heavy swords, katanas etc.... are two handed weapons. Sure one might be able to use one hand with them but is not the must common technique.

Fencers with rapiers and other lighter swords as in esgrima/fencing, are more in th line of dual wilding. Not dual wielding of 2 sword but perhaps a sword and a knife or dagger.

In the martial arts world, kali/ecrima/arnis philipino arts are the closest related to fencinf. Especially escrima. They teach dual wielding, single and unarmed. Some chinese wushu arts might teach dual wielding also,

Katanas are basically considered broad swords, and are two handed weapons (i practice iado and aikido) and while some techniques invole maybe one attack with a single hand this is very rare. All techniques are realy two handed ones.

So i dont agree with heavy swordsmen double wielding.

Light saber are not heavy swords. They can be used like heavy swords but arent. In fact they are practically weightless. Only the hilt carries some weight. Reason why jedii use the force to wield them by enhancing there senses.

Jedi have two handed techniques, fencer techniques and the ocasional polearmm techniques. So just because you use heavy swords or acces that has nothing to do with being similar or even close to being a jedi.

2 creds on the subject.

Why are we talking about this?

This reminds me of the pistoleers a few months ago that were bugging devs about holsters and duel wield pistols when much of their profession was broken. Their correspondent quashed it and instead focused on getting their profession fixed and it worked (more or less). I think with the problems that we still need fixed talking about animations and duel wield is counterproductive. Lets focus on getting profession fixed before we go for new skills, abilities and animations.

Well I just started on my path towards Swordsman, and kinda thought this post was interesting. First off, I am a fan of the anime Kenshin. Now I think really we might take this the wrong way. First off, why can't both fencers and heavy swordsmans have dual weapons? I mean Fencers are faster, while we use power. But both use a sword of some kind. I think that if the dual stuff does go through, that both fencers and swordsman can use dual weapons. But of course, make it a balance between the two. But I for one would like to see dual for swordsman. Thanks for listening to me two cents.

Now im asking myself this question - Why can't both proffesion and people in it enjoy it?

Fencers - Yes... They can get smaller weapons i their hands... Like two rykk blades..... Let them be very fast, but powerful... Let them hit multiple targets at once!

Swordsman - Let them too use two swords.... Maybe two swords as big as the two handed curved sword.. let them do MUCH more damage than fencer duel weilders, but slower..... 4.5 as the fastest...

This is also good for crafters - To get to content out to as many as possible in the brawler tree!

Im soon gonna be a TKA novice..... If duel will come - I will take the proffesion with it..... If fencers get duel - I take fencer and visa visa... But in my opinion there should be for both classes! If they can share the weapon "Sword" They should also be able to share the weapon "Sword duel weilding"

Wait a sec..... What about Pikeman?

If this fencer/swords get this, balance and new weapons along with TKA..... Then.... What does pikemans get? Its a pretty cool class with a lack of content.. Devs should try to help them out too!

Hate to say it but its true, duel wield better fits in the fencer class. But its this quote that sums the topic up best:

"I think with the problems that we still need fixed talking about animations and duel wield is counterproductive. Lets focus on getting profession fixed before we go for new skills, abilities and animations."

Here's my take:

Give SM's Dual-Wield, worry about combat penalties and weapon type restrictions later. Justification: we're a class that specializes in using BOTH HANDS, give us the *choice* to take the ability or not.

Fencers: Give Fencer a form a Dual-Wield with either a shield or knuckler or spiked-armguard etc. Keep 1H-sword one handed, but give them bonuses to use something else in their off hand.

Give us the ability to dual-wield and people can use the option or not -- no one forces you to use it. Besides, the implementation could suck and people will stick with their PH's....
