Thread: Heavy Swords Template. Too strong, got boring. :)
Ok:
I was master carbineer / master brawler / master heavy swordsman / TKA 0/0/0/3,for about a month.
When I was buffed with my 80% comp armor, the only thing that would kill me wasthepoison / disease hack combo, or too many AT-STs. Pretty much anything I encountered in PvP or PvE just died. If I was dizzy / kd for even 90 minutes
This combo gives you +215 counterattack, and if you're centered you get hit almost never by ranged shots. It also gives you 70s for melee and ranged D, +20 against dizzy, +40 against KD. While these are light, the tradeoff is the massive advantage of repeating a KD - chargeshot - so that your enemies can't run away. There are many good carbine combos including wildshot which will stun them so they take more damage and put out less damage and miss a combat turn. But compared to the heavy swords, my carbine was just used for state effects like blind and stun and double action bleed, and to allow me to catch up to the target so I could hit them with melee. Carbines kill kiters dead.
While this combo doesn't have as good defense as rifle + fencer + tka, it's unique and the damage output is great. The power of sword mind bleeds in PvP cannot be underemphasized. Master brawler is a powerhouse skill. This combo is much stronger than the pistoleer + fencer combo in all pvp respects. Generally, when I was fighting my servers best pistoleer / fencer, he could win if we were not buffed and armored, but if we were both buffed I always won with the sword mind bleeds, warcry2, and intimidate2.
This combo got boring because I basically know all the people on my server whoI'm good enough to be competitive with. Everyone else just died very easily. Plenty of times I would go to Bestine unbuffed, just food and spice, no armor, and rule the town for a few hours until one of my Imperial buddies would show up to save the town.
I think a better overall pure PvP template is the Rifleman + Fencer + TKA 4/0/0/4, but not only is that flavor-of-the-month, I beat quite a few of those types on a regular basis. But the players who were really good could usually beat me with it that template. Also, there's a rifle bug that gives someone holding a rifle incredible melee defense. Once that's fixed, I believe this flavor of the month will die quick.
So right now I'm going to try another aspect of the game, and that's support. I'm keeping heavy swords and getting master doctor, since the only thing that consistently wasted me was mind disease anyway. ![]()

Meant to say if I was dizzy / kd even for 90 seconds, my counterattacks and ranged / melee D were so high I could always ride out whatever damage I was being handed. And it's important to always use mind bleeds as your first damage attack so that when you get KD / Dizzy, you will still be damaging the target.
And as far as the TKAs - nemesis to swordsman with their KD2 - it was nearly impossible for a TKA to beat me in a stand-up duel, even if I was unbuffed / unarmored, and they were buffed and armored. They simply couldn't land enough hits to kill me before I did a double mind bleed, warcry2, and a dizzy with two-hand hit 3 + a lunge2 KD. Lunge2 is a stronger KD than anything TKA has.
Also, use the warcry / intimidate clothing (+17 to both in one item on my server).

See ya later then. I have an even better template than you. I am 2234 Jedi Guardian and a Dark Jedi Master. The devs forgot to nerf the force bonuses from both sides stacking.....
On a more serious note, try Master Doctor/Master Combat Medic.

Ah, I see you have that same template. Really I loved that template, it's unique and strong, and fun.
I don't think defense stacking will be nerfed. There's no need for it at all. Why? Because if you're ranged and melee you're completely dedicated to combat and you should be awesome at combat. If you're half-architect you should have half-suck in combat vs. an all-combat template. I'm going doc / swords and I won't be crying nerf on people who have pure combat templates because with half more than half my skill points in doctor my job is to support those types of players so my team can win. But if it comes down to the wire I'll have master swords to back me up.

Hard to intimidate someone when they have +17 Clothes on. Therefore he would still counterattack everything.
This is an excellent templete very similar to mine. Except I did more TKA instead of Mastering Brawler to get better defenses and meditate. I see the advantages of getting Brawler.
Ypi and I both moved over here after Mastering Carbines. Glad your keeping Swordsman.
BTW, I've been hit with that mind poison/disease and I was unaware its a hack.
Can you elaborate on that Ypi? I just thought that was something a Combat Medic could do. Like you, thats the only thing that takes me down consistantly.
fight any fencers by any chance? they have scatter hit two that does about 500 damage and goes through counterattack.
