Thread: Heavy Swords Template. Too strong, got boring. :)

Are you on crack? =)
MCM/(0/4/4/0) Doctor has almost no damage output to speak of that is not a DOT. vs anything with a significant HAM (i.e., bigger than a gnort), that DOT will take way longer to kill them than for it to kill you. Plus, if you get incap'd while running for your life, the DOT will no longer kill it, so you're SOL.
Defenses and Offensivesshould not stack at all. Personally I'd be happier if everything was a "novice" profession and you only got to pick one. Your not going through the same actions with your pistol out as with a sword out. Truth be told, if your any good, most actions will be automatic, but still based on what you were trained to do with that particular weapon.
I'm just hoping the devs start splitting and fixing defenses. Then 1 cookie cutter character is going to find that a specialist with a (Sword, whatever) is dangerous to him, because he has his pistol up now, oh wait now he's dropped it now he's vulnernable to the guy with therifle who's potshotting him, woohoo.
And if you think about it really does make sense lad: Concentrate on one at the expense of the other. You aren't brawl fighting my sword and dodging weapons fire, choose the lesser of two evils.

Good time to get out eh? Seeing as they're obviously gonna nerf defense stacking
In any case, i'm glad to see you're not dropping Swords entirely, i enjoy your comments here
Ah, I see you have that same template. Really I loved that template, it's unique and strong, and fun.
I don't think defense stacking will be nerfed. There's no need for it at all. Why? Because if you're ranged and melee you're completely dedicated to combat and you should be awesome at combat. If you're half-architect you should have half-suck in combat vs. an all-combat template. I'm going doc / swords and I won't be crying nerf on people who have pure combat templates because with half more than half my skill points in doctor my job is to support those types of players so my team can win. But if it comes down to the wire I'll have master swords to back me up.

I just made master swordsman a couple days ago (pats self on back) and I've been master carbineer for a few months. So far I agree with a lot of what you're saying Ypi, I like the combo mostly for it's offensive qualities. While I find that I counterattack a lot, my defense is still not as good as the rifle/tk/fencer combo or others like it.
I was under the impression that counterattack / block / dodge stacking was already capped (read: nerfed) in the last patch - ie. even though it reads as +205 in your skill mods in practice its capped lower than that.....is this the case?
Would Carbine still be effective in PvP if i just took the Counterattack line up toMaster and Abilities to Charge Shot?
I was going full melee with all the defence mods. My template looked like this.
Swordsman - Master
Brawler - Master
TKA - 4/3/0/4
Fence - 4/4/0/0
Polearm - 0/0/2/0
with novice medic. I could drop some of the defence mods in fencing, polearm and TKA to pick up the Carbine above, however Im wondering if it would be effective or not.
Without carbine, I would have...
Range +69
Melee +69
Knockdown +95
Dizzy +45
Posture change +100
Blind +30
Stun +55
Intimidate +20
Advice appreciated, thank you.
Unless that person is a master doctor/master heavy swordsman
That was my old setup and I thought it rocked
Fair enough, I don't have the ranged defense I could have, but I like being independent instead of having to run around trying to find a Doc to buff me or heal me.
CM owns you

Muhaha I'm MHS and 4/4/0/4 CM but you don't have enough skill points to master CM too
CM owns you
CMs cannot throw poison while blind. The carbine has an attack called full auto single 1 or 2. 2 is more powerful and more likely to inflict stun and blind. They also have charge shot which is repeatable KD. So if you see a CM within range and you can't get out of line-of-sight spam charge shot and full auto single 2.
Only problem with carbine and swords is sword accuracy at master I believe caps at 135 and carbine is 140. Many PvP templates have ranged defense > 180 and melee defense > 150. Only rifle has accuracy good enough to consistently hit people, and CM as well. So right now game is becoming rifle+ cm battle. So I switch to doctor since CMs are spawning to take advantage of the weakness in PvP now. I would take fencer or TKM over swords because they're accurate too, but I still love two-handed weapons.

Cool thing about charge shot in PvP is if you get a dizzy on someone, back off and charge shot. Guaranteed KD.
If you're with a rifleman, have him launch flurry shot. Then you do a charge shot when target has dizzy icon. Ranged dizzy / kd.
In PvE do a Warcry2 on an NPC or mob. Then use chargeshot. They lie on ground for 20 seconds and take extra damage.
Chargeshot knocks even AT-STs down. One carbineer and one swordsman can chew an AT-ST into pieces very quickly.
