Ok fellow master swords.

My mind unbufffed is 840, I'm double drinking Brandy and muon on hotkey.

Im dying from mind death every day, usually when spinning nightsisters but occaasionally rancors as well.

I even take my helmet off whilst fighting.

What can i do to minimise my mind deaths without mixing normal attacks with spamming specials.

Is there a food that lowers ham costs of specials? Something else?

canape adds 800 to ur secondary mind stats and u can drink 3 of em if there the good stuff ...... your weapon must have high ham costs

Canape and/or ahrisa are your friends...both chef foods.

good canape is in the 700+ range, 10 minutes or so and affects focus/willpower, it can also be experimented down to 33 filling, most of the timeI find 38-39 filling though, with 6-7 uses per stack

The ahrisa I use is 33 filling, 3 uses per stack, but it lasts for 45 minutes and adds a bit over 400 to focus.

The downside to using brandy and ahrisa at the same time is that they'll fall very close to the same time and leave you with a little bit left in your stomach meaning you can't completely refill immediately and this is very bad if you're in the middle of a group of nightsisters.

Thanks for that guys.I have been using brandy on its own or with synthsteak.ill drop the steak and try the canape.

I assume that the sisters attacks are not mind hits? I was wondering if my lack of helmet was actually the reason for mind loss...induced by a skinny witches fists?

they will always have a chance to hit your mind and without a helmet it will hurt, i tend to hunt ns in ubese, HAM is never above 300 encumberance which helps and its cheaper than comp, makes very little difference to your intimidated foe and the mind costs are easier to bear (bare? - sorry its late and looked rong).

well one thing dont take ur helmet off in a fight, ever. you dont know how many head hits can sneak in on you, hehe.

what weapon are you using???

I find it odd that you keep draining your mind like that.

for pve you should be using a powerhammer, which has great mind cost.

and if u say ur using scythe for pve... lol. dont.

whatever mob u use ur scythe to take down can be taken with a cleaver or 2-handed just a as easily. maybe a little longer, but trust me its not worth using ur scythe in pve.

Ok, I'll give you my run down, some of the other folks tipped on it, but I haven't died in months unless I was in a hurry to get back to the starport or I just broke a piece of armor.

I have my mind and secondaries maxed, but even with armor the secondaries are 1/1 (damn rodian secondaries), so you pop two brandy (look for ANYTHING over 400 with a duration of AT LEAST 45minutes, they fill your stomach for 45 minutes, so anything over that will give you a +/- time of about 1 minute for error), 1 Ahrisa, at the max time, hopefully around 37m (again, they burn out of your system at 35m I THINK, or something close to that). What you need to do is get yourwillpower over 1500 and your mind will NEVER go down from specials, you only have to worry about getting hit in the head, and unless it is a Giant Dune Kimo, I rarely get my mind bar below half. If you do start to drop you need to pop 1 canape, stays in your system for about 15 minutes, and has a duration of 10 minutes usage usually, but it will help your regen. Always try to keep enough room in the food portion for either a synthsteak or an extra canape. And if it gets really bad, just pop a muon and you should be good to go.

Also, ALWAYS keep your hardest hitting target(s) intimidated. If you have 1 elder,2 protectors, a spell weaver and 2 sentinels on you, just keep the elder and the 2 protectors intim'd, the other 3 will drop very quickly with headhits before you have to concentrate on the big targets.

Using this plan you should never be getting hit for more than 50-200 points of damage with an average composite or ubese helmet. And never die either.

I had been using my scythe for PvE as well.I know i shouldnt really ,but the temptaion to pull it out is irrisistable

Also better than the hammer of course for Low kinetic resists. 1200DPS vs 800 for the hammer.

If you are going to stay for swordsman do the following :

Migrate your stats to maximize your mind, willpower and focus. Rest doesn't matter.

Do not be lazy and get Entertainer buffs, sepecially musician.

Geta few sets ofcheapest 80% kinetic and lowest %basesets you can find. (I was an AS, and untill I can get 65-68 base I made many 50-55 bases and sold very cheap) Gett hem sliced and at least have one set of encumbrance sliced.

Synthsteak, dodge food etc. is not needed. Make a center and intimidate macro, thats enough.

If you are lazy to get entertainer buffs, use double ahrisa and double brandy. Never use muon unless you are about to die. And canape is waste of money, too.

I never see my HAM dropping, only when there are two protectors and spellweavers around with the elder.

AND always have novice medic at least.. I have medic 0040, some prefer 4000, it's your choice.

Don't take you helmet off. Getting hit in the head costs way more than a special.
