I am a Swordsman and Chef, as stated earlier Brandy and Ahrisa is your friend.

When buying Brandy look for 45min or greater and 400+ stats. When buying Ahrisalook for the same and 33 filling or less. I do not recommend Canape for PvE, you really should stick to long lasting food/drink. With Canape you can fill up your stomach pretty fast and because of its short duration you will run through a crate of it fairly fast.

I usually drink 2 brandy and eat one or two ahrisa (depending on the armor i'm wearing). My mind costs are usually gone at this point. If you have low encum armor you can get away with two brandy's and specials only cost about 15 points for me. I usually have room left for Synth Steak after a couple ahrisa's. Also, you should eat a synt steak before shuttling out to where you will be fighting, since it lasts an hour and is based on X amount of attacks it will empty out of your stomach before you get to your destination and you still benefit from the effects.

Also, look for 33% Mind, 16% Damage Melee Powerups for your weapons, that will also reduce the cost.

I'm FAIRLY certain a FULL stomach empties at 45 minutes, and a brandy fills it 49% or so. So we're looking at 24.5 minutes to digest a brandy, and 15 minutes to digest an Ahrisa or canape. This is what I do, and trust me, it works VERY well:

Make a macro and put a stack of brandy in the toolbar next to it. I have the macro send me a tell saying "brandy time", it clears the combat queue, hits the toolbar slot with the brandy in it, and I drink. Then, it's set to wait 18 minutes before restarting. So after 18 minutes of starting the game, I ALWAYS have a double brandy hit going, and most times triple. +1260 mind is nothing to sneeze at. If you can waste the toolbarslots, you can do the same with Ahrisa, but I don't find it neccessary. When I see myself using HAM for specials, I just pop one. Also, use canape as a failsafe. If something starts wailing on you, or you have mind poison, pop enough canapes to fill your stomach. That'll usually get you out of there alive, while sticking around to finish what you started.

Oh, forgot to mention.... With that macro going, you can tank GDKs for weeks. It will only disease your natural mind stats, so you'll always have 800+ mind to work with, which is MORE than enough when your secondaries are 1500+

You need the doc buffs for the secondaries. I don't think the primaries matter much. The big thing that I noticed is that after elder number 3, my bf starts climbing up and my mind won't regen fast enough. Then i have to pop and ahrisa to go with my brandy. Oh yeah... and put on a new set of ubese.

Are you spamming your specials with a Scythe? If yes, you need toget a Master Musician buff (Focus/Willpower) and pop 1 or 2 brandy. This will take care of your mind and there won't be any need for Muon. You definately shouldn't have issues with your PH even without the music buff.

Its better to do without the arm pieces then the helmet.

sometimes I just wear the helmet, chest piece, pants and boots

The chest & pants absorb the most damage.

Also youmay consider a master dancer & master musician mind buffs as well - 2hours and they can make the difference in a good NS battle.

There're a lot of... interesting strategies in here. Let me tell you that I have both a zabrak and a human character, and it's entirely possible to keep the mind healthy on both of them.

Get good migration. No matter what species you play, migrate all of your mind stats to max. start with focus, then when that hits 1k (if possible) do mind, then the rest into willpower and if you end up having any points left over (won't happen with human), place them in primaries for H and A.

Get some good food. If you're doing PVE, you're going to want good brandy and good ahrisa. Look for 44+ minutes on both of them. On Lowca, +420 is good on Brandy and +400 is good on ahrisa.

Understand armor. Wear only your helm, chest, gloves, and boots. period. Don't wear pants, don't wear a flight suit underneath it. You can wear cloth pants. Don't wear biceps or bracers. Trust me on this one.

Prepare for battle. NEVER leave unbuffed. If you expect to do well in highend combat, you need to be doctoer buffed all the time. As you approach your destination, pop two brandy and take a look at your character sheet. if your focus is at 1500 with just that, no worries. If it's lower, especially more than 100 points lower, take ahrisa until you can reach that number. This will make it so you'll never lose mind from doing specials.

Stay vigilant. Your food buffs aren't permanent. You'll get to instinctively know the timers after a while, but as you begin, keep a close eye on them. I usually check on the character screen, and when it looks like my drink bar is clear, I take 2 more brandy and a number of ahrisa.

If you follow these steps, you'll never run low on mind again... unless you meet a rather unhappy SBD or something of that nature.

Going without arm pieces or biceps or without any piece of armor is a huge gamble and will cost you your life eventually. I've spent a lot of time fighting Elders and even more time watching hits register on every piece of armor in the combat window. Yes, some pieces get hit more than others...but when an Elder can hit you for 1500 or more unarmored, it will only take 2 hits to incap & kill you.

Not worth it. Wear full armor if you want to live.

I didnt read the whole thing cuz i got lazy... but,

I have IDd for bigger secondary stats, I take 2 shots of +344 Brandy and using my PH I can solo ns with no problem. (this is with about 1000 encrumbrance to mind stats Comp armor)
But I find it intresting I can solo Jantas, NS, and higher level mobs with np but when I do like quenkers or something easier I get mind incaped.... hmmm intresting...

Incorrect. Try going out with just the 4 pieces I listed - Helm, chest, boots, and gloves and see what happens. If you seem to be getting hit for a lot, remove any other items of clothing (including rings, amulets, and cloth pants). Wear only those 4 pieces of armor, and nothing else that could be considered armor and no flightsuits underneath it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I saw a thread about this the other day. Apparently if you have armor on any part of that limb, it counts it as armored. I haven't tried it out myself.
