Please stay civil and post you general CU test thoughts here. Keep all info swordsman (2h) related. Add tips, concerns, ideas whatever.

Tip: Get a 2h heavy axe from the frog and the two-handed axe. the heavy axe from the frog is slightly better than the noob one.

Tip: It is rumored that tatooine is the starter planet, go there.


Add your thoughts and tips here to help get people started testing the new improved 2h swords profession!

okay here is some info,,, I just got out of tc5 and the new CU played for a bit,,, NO COUNTERATTACK mod anymore if you spent money on tapes i dont know what it is being changed to but its gone,, also no COB,,, we were battle armor,,, not assault =(,,,, and the new dmg is much higher on weapons

standard issue power hammer 875 max,,, scythe 707 max,,, sith sword 757 with cold dmg,,,, so if you have a really good PH lets say your dmg will actualyl be going up not down,,, thats just a quick few things

Yes i was playing for a good few hrs and it is a bit different, swordies no longer get the PH cert right away, they get it at master.


-no regular attack, you must keep hitting the button (not sure if this is intended)


-you need UH to get swordsman


-we wear battle armor and get amor acc and speed mitigation at different % as we level up to help increase effectivness with armor on


-tat is the starting planet

you can set a default attack by holding ctrl then clicking on the action. every time you engage it will keep cycling this action.

Yes I meant it as when you are in "battle" mode your toon doesnt just do regular hits, non special attack.

did some more playing and not really likeing it

heres a mini rant

/rant

inda disapointed made me feel like logging off after a few minutes,,, Very childish,,, the text popping up was lame,,,,

1. to childish

2. the icons are really lame and dumb the look is horrid

3. I WANT A COMBAT QUE and a way to tell if we are in combat

4. GIVE BACK THE OLD CON system

5. WHY IS THERE NO COUNTERATTACK, Dodge, or block and no def vs skills,,, some spent lots on these

6. CAN WE HAVE A FEW NON CU SERVERS THAT WE CAN TRANFER CHARECTARS TO,,,, I am really not likeing this so far at all,,,

7. THE ATTACK ANIMATIONS ARE HORRID<,, look so cheesy


why changed the whole game,,, why ruin the gameplay we have had for the last 2 years,,,, we all play SWG because we liked SWG not because we hoped it would be more like WOW or EQ2,,,,

the new combat system sucks,,,,

And why convert all of our items if its just not nessecary ,,, damn the more i log onto TC5 the more angry i feel,,, im going to go play some on radiant and pretend for the next month there is no CU

Here's a list of the Master Swordsman abilities and their in-game description. Please treat as suspect as still on TC. Of course most of them haven't been tested yet.







BRAWLER TREE


Knockdown recovery:


This ability allows you to recover immediately from being knocked down if you have enough ability points.



Taunt:


Increases the aggro that a mob in combat has towards you. This ability is useful to get mobs to attack you

instead of other party members


Melee Hit:


This is the most basic melee ability with very low damage potential but no ability cost


Melee Strike:


This Melee attack does more damage than Melee Hit but has a slight ability cost.


Lunge:


This Melee attack has an extended range potential.


Center of Being:


This command will cause your character to focus on avoiding combat blows. This will only

apply when you are wielding a melee weapon.


Armor Break (improves throughout career):


This melee ability reduces your targets armor effectiveness.


Bleed attack:


This melee attack causes bleeding wounds that continue to damage the target even after

the initial strike. This attack must be done with a piercing or slashing weapon.







SWORDSMAN TREE


Head Hit (improves throughout career):


This melee attack causes a targeted hit to the head and has a slight accuracy penalty.


Critical Strike (improves throughout career):


This melee attack does higher than normal damage with a chance to critical doing serious amount

of damage.


Area Taunt (improves throughout career):


This ability increases agression levels towards you of all opponents in Melee Range.


Power Attack (improves throughout career):


This melee attack does significant amount of damage to the target.


Sword Flurry (improves throughout career):


This melee attack has an improved damage capability as well as granting a defensive benefit.


Berserk (improves throughout career):


This ability allows you to do more damage than normal with melee attack however a defense penalty

will be incurred.


Blind Recovery:


This ability allows you to recover immediately from being blinded if you have enough ability points.


Dizzy Recovery:


This ability allows you to recover immediately from being dizzy if you have enough ability points.


Stun Recovery:


This ability allows you to recover immediately from being stunned if you have enough ability points.



...plus improving armormitigation throughout the career

/attack does 'regular' hits.
I actually enjoy the changes so far (despite the rampant amount of bugs atm)... take some guildies and go hunt together, it's fun

The stats on weapons are very different, everything basically does more damage, the standard scythe was about 300-700 and 2.5 speed. We get two elemental damage weapons, the scythe will do acid damage and the sith sword, I think, will do cold damage. We get two handed curved sword cert. at novice swordsman and the PH at master, I dont remember were the otehr certs were. And the picture for the Wookie sword is messed up, I got a red box with a ? on my inventory, but it had all the stats and stuff.

Sorry. Can't disagree more.


I do agree with point 2. We're used to symbols, not garish colors. However with time I think I'll get used to it. I don't play the game for how the buttons look.


4. You're kidding about the old con system, right? There were things that were conned red to me that i could drop in 1 hit and there were some that i would require 100k in food and a half hour of mind./head hits to take down. This con system actually means something.


5. Counterattack, et al. are part of the old system. We were told that many things would change. We knew this was coming. Chances are your skill tapes will be part of a CONVERSION process that will turn them into something useful in the new system. If not, I'm sure we'll all live through the ordeal.


SWG has always been more than just a "combat system"... I don't, and never have played SWG for the combat. Why? Because there are some serious design flaws in that system. I play SWG for the world, the people, the cool non-combat classes and the hope that someday, SOMEDAY, being a friggin swordsman will be fun.



*edit* So busy stumping I forgot to post my CU thoughts: Melee is very smooth feeling to me now instead of choppy and disassociative. The grunt from getting hit is a bit dorky. They went overboard on the icons but its not exactly game breaking.The skill trees LOOK ok so far to me. But I frankly think we should all reserve judgement till we've seen the character life cycle from beginning to end.


The absolute best thing about the CUare these:


1 - NO wait time when you switch weapons. I was STUNNED when we were told that people who switch weapons were "exploiting". The three second wait was way too long.In RL I can drop a hammer and draw a holstered gun in about a single second and I'm not trained in anything more dangerous than system engineering.


2 - TERRAIN now effects combat. Thank god. All I can say is let the REAL tactics begin. Hopefully done are the days of min/maxing your character and here are the days of fire and maneuver!


I haven't played as much as I would like yet but so far I'm very excited about SWG in a way I havent been since the very beginning.

About those damages on weapons, crafted ones may have lower ones. I read about condition being like 3x higher then intended crafted one. Can't say for dmg though.
