Thread: hey goreki, does this mean POWERHAMMERS are now worthless?
huan_the_destroyer wrote:well if this goes live and we get punked because of krayt pistols im quitting for sure.
im not waiting 3 months for the devs to keep putting band-aids on crap battle system
I guess nobody in here has ever seen a krayt pistol. the damage range on a krayt fwg5 is HUGE. my uber krayt FWG (made with +65 tissue) will be WORTHLESS after damage mitigation goes through.

i don't like this at all.
were getting screwed because of krayt pistols??
am i reading this wrong or are rangers getting damage midigation against weapons with wide gaps?
does this apply to melee weapons?
do we have our own version?
And if you master 2 melee, do you get a 120% damage drop?
haha! They'll hit themselves! :3
Powerhammers is not gona be worthless !
They are gona take a big hit as most weapons:
Laser Rifle - around 50% reduction
Laser Cabine - around 50% reduction
Scout Blaster - around 25% reduction
Power hammer - around 35% reduction
2-handed-curvedsword- around 45% reduction
So yes we are gona get hit hard - this update will hurt the hard hitters most, and favor the low fast attacks.

Here's the definition again:
All melee/ranged classes get a new ability called damage mitigation.
There are 3 of these abilities for ranged, and 3 for melee. These will limit the range of damage that can be done to you.
Example:
If you are hit with a melee weapon that does 1-100 points of damage and you have melee damage mitigation 3, the damage range we actually use becomes 1-40. This is because melee damage mitigation 3 limits the operative damage range to 40% of the original value.
Level 1 damage mitigation limits damage to 80% of the range
Level 2 damage mitigation limits damage to 60% of the range
Level 3 damage mitigation limits damage to 40% of the range
Melee weapons get melee mitigation
Ranged weapons get ranged mitigation
Mitigation types (ranged / melee) stack, mitigation levels not.
I agree that the Power Hammer will temporarily be affected by this, but the point here is, and that is something i will get more into detailwith in my answer post next week:
We will be seeing quite a bit of changes in the next 2-3 months with the combat revamp. The aim here is what we are hopefully all looking for: to create a balance between profession and yet give each profession their own role in the whole (please check and participate if you want to in my Swordsmen's Round Table thread on top of this board). This will happen in several steps through different passes.
So please keep this in mind over the next 2-3 months / publishes:some of the changes, whether good or bad, have to be seen from a wider, overall angle. What counts is what we will see under the line once we are through the whole process and like you, neither the Devs or me want TKA to be an uber-profession, have our weapons nerfed or anything else you might fear.....
In the past months we've been trying to make ourselves heard, to get the message through that the combat system as it is isn't always fun and balanced. Now that we've been heard and things start being worked on, it's important to get our (last) bit of patience together, try making this a constructive, efficient process and not directly scream "Nerf!" with every change.Once more: what counts is what we will see under the line in the end.
Have a nice weekend all and happy wielding ![]()
Or you can say ... They didnt make their game correctly and now I have to pay for beta testing a game.
Patience is forwhen you are waiting for a game to be released and they keep pushing back the game because they want to make sure its the best game possible before release. Not after the fact ...
But anyway, I'm currently hooked and addicted as all hell, so will most likely keep playing, but that doesn't mean I have to like it or expect much out of it in the long run ...
thanks for the response gore
but it seems to me the devs are just pampering TK's and Pistols
as usual.
a lot of us are using some good tactics and builds to make swordsman awsome in pvp and pve and the more i see with the combat revamps the more it seems that Tk is the only viable option in the future due to bad planning.
the whole point of being a master swordsman is the damage advantage.
i guess this is being taken away from us as well.
it's true i don't see the big picture - but it's hard to see it when you only get a small piece a few days before it's patched in.
hopefully it will get better
hopefully ill be around to see it :d
yah great
i like cleavers a lot too
but i can do more damage as a TK than with a cleaver
so why be a master swordsman?
thats the point
