Thread: Counterattack is broken?

We get onepassive skill, counterattack, which is different from other brawlersand there seems to be confusion if this skill is actually working right.


WhenI get the message I have counterattacked, it seems to only block the incoming blow and nothing else. No unblockable attack like it says in the description.


Has anyone actually seen damage fly off their opponent when they counterattack? I wonder if your chance to get in the unblockable attack is equal to the chance to counterattack in the first place?


So if I have a 5% chance to counterattack, I would then only have a 5% chance to get in an unblockable attack on a successful counterattack? It also could be the unblockable attack just isn't working. Does anyone know?

As a rifle and sword user I find it amusing to see +counterattack+ floating off melee mobs 45m away. Yeah, sure you counterattacked. Have another head shot.


I've never seen it do anything different from a +miss+, myself....

You need to understand how this attack works.


When you get a "counterattack" you avoid all damage from the shot, like a dodge. The added benifet is that your next attack CANNOT be dodged, blocked, counterattacked etc - it automatically hits. That is what counterattack does - you dont get the hit for free.

Have you noticed that this almost NEVER happens, unless you are fighting very light blues?


I fought all night once, and didn't see a single counterattack (i'm still at 5). Then, when i'm passing by a giant durni, (very light blue) I counter attack. I couldn't believe my eyes. Has anyone had the same experience? It almost looks like there is a level-gap problem where you can't counterattack if the creature is an even con or higher.

I counterattack frequently. Not every battle, but enough to be memorable. I dont even have the +10 from sword defense yet =)

Ithinkit should be a free, immediate attack, not an automatic hit.I get +counterattack+ed by an almost dead mob, then hit it and kill it before it gets a chance. Not that I mind not being hurt, but how is that a counterattack?


Your next attack automatically hits != Counterattack IMO, nor is it any good if you're already dead.

The in combat description of Counterattack is the most poorly done in any game I've ever seen.


"You hit (Random MoB) for 700 damage, but they Counter attack!"


Um... So why am I not doing any damage?? It not only stipulates that I did indeed hit the stupid MoB, but also the exact amount I hit it for.I can only assume that beingable to counter attack apparently makes you temporarily invincible in the Star Wars universe, or someone's grade 3 teacher didn't make it clear that their writing should make sense.


I suggest changing it to "You swing at the mob, but they deflect your blow and Counter attack" or something that doesn't make me want to scream every time I read it.


PS Counter Attack is especially inane with a ranged weapon, especially when shooting something without a ranged weapon that still doesn't know where to find you.

I want to report something further I have learned about counterattack tonight. I had several twohandedhit2 in my combat queue and my combat wentlike this:


You useViolent Strike on a rogue bantha for 477 damage!


a rogue bantha hits you, but you counterattack!


a rogue bantha hits you for 99 points of damage!


Your Violent Strike misses a rogue bantha.



As you can see, counterattack does not guarantee an unblockable hit if your next move is a special move. I am still notconvinced that this skill isworking like it is supposed to do.

/agree counte attack isn't working right yet


i have tired this facing a fencer and te combat spam was like this


he hits you forhits you for ***


you swing and miss


he hits you for ***, but you counter attack


you swing and miss, or dodged out of the way


he hits you for ***


and this goes on for awhiel untill i get lucky and hit him finally. but you will lose unless your buffed and/or you have armor on



but i've tested it on him and counter-attack isn't working wether it is a passive move like it is suposed to be or if it's a guarrentied hit for you on your next attack

If you go up against a Fencer and do not hit CoB, you lose. Hands down. If you both hit it, its a game of luck. His damage is low, but he's faster. Your damage is high, but you're slower.


I'm 2/3/1/2 fencer, their not the "overpowered" profession people tend to make them out to be. Its the ones that are pure combat that are the killers. Of course you where only a Blademaster and tried to fight me... you'd end up face down on the ground. Its all in what support skills you have to complement your profession.



Topic at hand:


Counter and Block are both not viable right not. As, unlike dodge, they only absorb a random % of the attack. Whereas Dodge negates the attack completely everytime.
