Thread: Swordsman rocks in PvP
I have to master swordsman ( got holocronized to do so heh). I was close to Master TKA before i found that holocron. Now i am a 0-4-0-4 Swordsman so far and i love it (especially since im also a master doc).
I pvped yesterday and i cant count how many people ive killed. Especially the Mind Bleeding is extremly powerfull. If i hit someone with that its like a 99% chance that i willwin this fight. As a TKA i had to get Dizzy/KD on my oponent in order to win a fight. As a swordsmam i just need to get that one Mind Bleed on heh.
Ok, a dizzy and/or KD attack would be nice and something to fill that one Combat xp box wich is empty would be good. But right now i really like Swordsman and if i had to choose between TKA and Swordsman again im sure i would choose Swordsman (Especially with Master Doc combined....do you know HOW MUCH MIND Tkaspecials use ? its ridiculus, i mostly killed myself as a TKA because of the Mind cost of the specials a).

I have to agree. I am a novice swords man 0 0 2 2. I have yet to lose a duel yet. As a commando in duels There were rules of no flame specials so I lost those. Even when I did use flame specials I lost 4 out 5 times because I would miss.
I have defeated TKA not master but pretty close. Bounty Hunters, Creature Handlers, Pistoleers, Commandos.
Its the bleed that does the trick. If fighting a melee mind bleed first attack then spam headhit over and over. Most people do not have high mind stats so you are looking at 700-800 damage to do compared to 1000-1100 for action and health
Same goes for other proffesions just different tactics. Here is the way I do it. Mindbleed first attack then headhit once...run around behind buildings what ever there is to keep them from getting a clear shot. A couple pieces of comp armour works well. I have a helmet and gloves both are 69% sliced resist. This is incase the get lucky.
Commandos here is the tip. Do not ever stand still not matter what happens after the first hit just move around and keep 18 meters between you and the commando. Never duel a commando on tat because if you get hit by the flame all he has to do is wait until you burn to death. Any other planet water is never far away and that works well. Just burst run because your mind bleed will keep working while you are screaming on fire running through town.
In PvP there are a few tactics I use. Burst run to your first target and do not attack the commando first. Mindbleed first target. Change to second target which if there is one should be the commando. He/she has used a special so there is at least 8 secs between special fires and most likey 12-16 secs because most are not master. Spam headhit after mind bleed. Commando is down and then if anyone is left move on. Most people will over look you in a PvP fight because you are not shooting. Its natural to be distracted by red lines on the screen.
I have been death blowed once since I got novice swordsman and it was because i was the last person alive.
Happy hunting and remember there is a difference between PvP and duels.
First of all as a commando I have suppression fire and can switch to the trusty FWG5. So ranged anything doesnt matter because I can do basically the same thing less affective I admitt but it all depends on who gets the first hit in.
Like I said I havent faced a TKA master. I didnt see what server you are on but anytime you want to see if you would own me find me on Tempest usually Naboo or Dantooine. My character is Koia Aoke Master Commando/ Novice Swordsman ( soon to be Master ). Then we can try your theory and see what happens. I posted from my own experiences so until you face me dont say you would own me.
You know what is really sad a New Swordsman comes in here and is excited at how good this proffesion is and shared some of his/my succeses.
Then some people who feel they are special because they have been swordsman for so long and have known what I am discovering act like unless they post it it isnt true or that he/me was fighting people orcreatures that just didnt know how to do it.
You are right about one thing. I have always wanted to be and will continue to be a Master Commando. I will keepSwordsman if my next holocron tells me to master dancer because its not something I wish to try or that I am interested in. If on the other hand it says Master Teras Kasi or Smuggler or any proffesion that I can keep the commando linethen I will drop Swordsman and still have a new respect for the proffesion and what can be done with it.

I wasn't really talking about that. I was talking about the people that come in and ask what all the "veterans" are complaining about, only to have them disappear a week later without a word. I've seen at least five people like this since I started frequenting this board.
i dont care if there is another profession who can kick my butt, i dont care if Mr.Commando thinks that he could own me in a 1 vs 1 because he is so elite 
All i care about is that i am having A LOT of Fun with my new Swordsman toy in PvP (and PvE), much more fun than i had with my (0-4-4-4 TKA).
There will always be someone stronger compared to a Melee class, but if you know how to play your Melee class , it can be damm powerfull.
Just yesterday i was terrorizing coronet .Instead of figthing in the wide open where every novice marksman could kite me ,in went into buildings like the capitol or the hotel.It was close quarter combat and even whole groups with BHs,Commandos etc had no chance against me because it was hard for them to kite me when they get stuck at a thing on the ground every 2 meters . It took them very very very long to take me down.....
yep, the average swordsman. you musta been facin some mr kids or sumtin. lol the ppl on my server would tear your a s s UP. hell with my smuggler skills i could wipe your slate clean. yep, go ahead and burst run, you know i can too o and i can knock you down from 64 meters away, and up close with tka knock down 1. try the mind bleed, ill meditate it off. ill knock you down, mind bleed 2 and head hit 3 you.
im not trying to say im uber. im saying that any smart ranged can take any smart or stupid melee. ranged ppl have kd through bh, carbineer, pistoleer, and smuggler. not to mention they have posture downs from master and novice marksman. and ya gotta know that they have burst run too. a rifleman can put a powerful mind bleed (not as powerful as ours, but close) on us from anywhere between you and 64 meters away. posture change ya, and spamhead shots. or if their high enough up they can usestrafe shot or whatever it is, and kill you in either one or two hits.
sry i had to use rifleman as an example, to all you rifle-wielding ppl out there. btw i have played rifleman and carbineer, and bh and pistoleer too. i was whoopin ppl left and right with my all of my friend's ranged characters. it was just so easy, just target them and fire away 3 or 4 different specials in a specific order, and spam the last shot.
it went underhand shot, mind bleed, head shot, panic shot, head shot head shot head shot.
and that right there brings ya to the reason why i am a swordsman anyways. cause of the challenge, and cause its just so much more fun.

Hehe, I have a TKA friend who's getting sick of seeing new TKA's running around everywhere. 
The flavor of the month just likes to shift around. I just hope we never become like that.
