Im having a hard time beating people who use guns. I always get rooted and then they end up beating me by just running away and shooting. Is there a way I can prevent this?
Also, what moves should I generally use in PvP. Im tkm/master swordsman/pike 0040

while rooted healing and lunge is all you can do. To prevent it you have a couple of options. Trial and error is your best friend. Lunge, Burst run, and just kicking the crud out of your oponent between roots works for me, every time.

right now im master swords//pike//brawler// medic 1-0-4-0 -- with fencer novice
when it comes to dueling ranged there are a few things to do that will most likely win the battle for you,,, I have PvP fought and dueled many and only lost to a key few,,,, just remember dont panic and give up once your rooted lol,, you ahve to just wait it out,,,,
okay first thing first is you want COB running during combat
second ,,,, I start the fight in the following manner, Armor break, KD, Critical hit,,,, this at times can take your opponent down to around half health, Since im pikemen i then follow it up with an impale and Melee assault,,,, one thing to keep in mind is that different attacks from different trees use different timers,,, so if you have the action you can pull off those 3 attacks without waiting for cooldown,,,,
Once you get rooted which will usually happen try to remember to be on the + ranged defense food, and keep dropping heals on your self,,,, its not worth it to switch to a gun to fire back because you loss all of your defense mods that are tied to your melee skills,, just keep dropping heals on your self and get ready to burst run to your target once the root breaks,,, Root is on like a 45 sec timer so if he misses hes got a while to wait,
Once I get in range again I usualyl KD and hit some dmg attacks and the fight usuallly ends with him dead,,,
Also dont forget about intimidate and warcry if you have them its always great to have him intimidated before he pulls away and starts shooting at you

Well Im a swords doc so I just improved cob (tka 0100 is so worth it) and keep throwing heals up also youll wanna be using the ranged d food cuts your hits done to like non and I did fine using just instant stims with tk swords. If you encounter a really good kiter though you may be screwed no matter what. If you encounter a Rifleman/smuggler/pistoleer who knows what hes doing or worse a jedi hybrid your owned.
Its not a big deal in pvp or at least I find it isnt you just gotta switch to defense mentality untill that root ends.

Yeah you can make a COB macro that runs constantly check this out http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=teras_kasi_artist&message.id=101361 and don't forgtet to use /follow with your burst run after the root drops that way they can't lose you and you can get to pounding them that much faster. Get them on the ground and keep them on the ground. Get states on them and critical hit them.

Yeah the CoB macro was great and fun and all but.... Dammit it don't work when you move just an inch. So I myself preferr to push it whenever I think it's about time to... usually when it starts ticking. There is nothing more annoying than CoB going off in a chase and taking up the precious second to load up and do nothing. Using it manualy is definately the way to go in PvP but of course a bit harder. I only use the macro when I'm somwhere as a tank
