Thread: Upcoming Patch Will it weaken Swordsman Significantly?

The new changes in the patch seem to do no favours for the Swordsman (bar the scythe which looks very nice). First off in PvP it seems we can trash a ranged proffs mind (if you can catch them) due to the fact they have no melee mitigation and our attacks hit very hard. But when it come to melee professions their melee mitigation greatly hampers our weapons due to the large dmg range of our weapons such as power hammer and curved sword, ive yet to fight any other melee proff in close combat tho so i couldnt comment but ive fought a few tkas and ive go to say their unarmed toughness makes our weapons useless. Ive hit with 2handed head hit3 for 26 dmg with my curved sword (60-353 dmg)and my powerhammer (max dmg 560 )for a whopping 79 dmg on a tka and i wasnt even initmidated. I figured that the only way to beat a tka in close combat was to stack bleeds on their mind since it negates thier toughness and i found i culd plant a nice pair of bleeds on them for roughly 300 dmg a piece for a total of about 550-600 a tic. Now with the patch DoTs are going to b affected by resists and modifiers and are no longer stackable so are we going to be resigned to bleeding them for 50 mind dmg and hitting away at them for about 70 dmg with mind hit 3?? This worries me slightly since i love PvP and i chose swordsman for a change over Master Bounty hunter which i dropped.

Secondly in PvE Swordsman arent going to be such big hitters anymore since our bleeds will b weakened and we will only be able to apply 1 at a time.

Just asking for any input on these points since ive only been a swordsman for just under a week now and im nearly master, to see if im missing something or is the nerf bat hitting the swordsman a little hard this patch?

I am going for master swordsman... so far it has treated me well and is one of my favorite fighting proffesions (along with commando, of course both these have to do with stacking things. i.e. flames, bleeds etc.). This is horrible news. My power hammer KICKS A$$ in PvE but when it comes to fighting PvP there is no chance I can win. With TK's being WAY to overpowered, they can kill me before I have a chance of touching them. Same with some ranged. I have been incapped before I could even get to the guy. I have no clue why the dev's are nerfing us. This is becoming regular now. Dev's have to RUIN good things. For example krayt hunting, another= fighting with pets, pets absolutely SUCK. They nerf weapons to make them worse etc. As I recall in the Star Wars movies a laser didnt take away 1/5 of their health... It killed them flat out. The dev's are trying to balance between this and good 'ole times PvP'ing without being 1 hit killed all the time. Problem is, it is not going to happen. They should just step away from the beer and pizza, reconfigure the fighitng system to where things are BALANCED but have their own unique abilities (like in KOTOR) and go from there. That is just my 2 cents. Peace.

Don't be blaming it on TKAs, did you ever stop to think that mabey swordsman is just under powered? In my opinion all melee professions need to be brought up to TKA standards.

Also, not all professions were meant to be PvP gods. Tactics also help.

all you neeed to do to beeat a tka in a duel is wear armor. it is the save all in pvp vs tkas. and the only one that can't benifit from this is poor little wookies. they should have some armor of one form or anouther but they get gipped

Considering how easy it is for me to kill people in PvP, if I was "brought up to TKA standards" this game would be a joke and there would be no need to PvP because it would be far too easy.

The simple truth lies that class roles need to be outlined and classes are going to need to be balanced in regards to each other (If you consider that to be nerfing TKAs, so be it) but as it is, TKAs currently are an unbalancing factor in brawler vs. brawler PvP.

TKA aint over powered, im a master TKA and if i fight one with a good composite or ubese armor il prolly loose. imo TKA is the only Well Balanced melee class atm.. yes we have meditate that gives us a ltille buff but nothing speciel, we only have 1 dmg type ( kinetic ) wich most mobs and armor have huge resist too, so dont Say TKA is over powered just us Swordsman thats need some love

TKA wouldn't be too bad if it got a very small nerf. But indeed, I do agree that all melee proffs anyway should get brought up to something around tka standards. swordsman has been lots of fun till now, and area 3 i hear does uber damage (just as strong as hit3, but hits in an area and pd's and has chance of dizzying, that's pretty good!)

I also heard last time i was online or so, someone from the pa managed to solo an ATST with buffs and armor of course, using a speed sliced power hammer of 500 or so i think...that's pretty cool...i don't think a tkm could do that though. after all, power hammers can do this: blast damage + ap2. they only do more damage then most others.

thats the cool thing about swordsman, they have at least 2 things they can do that tka can't do:

1. It's possible to solo an ATST

2. We have a move that (sometimes) dizzies, lowers posture and does very high damage. Really, agree: Isn't beeing able to do 4-5k damage with an AoE move good? huh? of course it is! i really don't expect it to be better, esp considering with the right weapon you can spam this move at master every second!!

btw, i am NOT saying swordsman should get nerfed with the above post of mine. I am a swordsman myself and am enjoying the proff alot. i think after doing swordsman alot i shall do armor smith, make really good ubese and padded, mabye compo and then go do TKM, and go back to swordsman or do fencer

I think the only thing we have to worry about is the multiple bleeds issue, but I dont think it'll be that significant, just means you have to adjust your tactics.

I agree with most of the posters that TKA's dont need to be nerfed, but maybe everyone else needs to be balanced out. Many of the issues are around the accuracy of swordsmen weapons and the low defence we have.

TKA's are already going to be stripped of Dizzy & KD (as far as I know) because its too easy to exploit, but that is really the only major inbalance in the TK profession IMO.

Lets all just wait for the combat balance..

Can you direct a post from a dev where you got this info from? Or where you heard this from.
