Thread: A hammer in the SWORDSMAN weapon set?

What's the deal with this? Almost every swordsman i see has a hammer. The hammer makes a mockery of the swordsman profession. Sure, I know it has blast damage and that's all very good but come on. The least the devs could do is rename the hammer and change the hammer into a sharp weapon like the other swordsman weapons. Anyone else agree with me on this?

What are you smokeing??? No one agrees with you because no one cares.. With out the ph or the scythe we would be basically novice fencers.... So b4 you go makeing stupid assumptions you should actually go and see the max stats you can get on a 2Handed Curved Sword...

what kind of idiot comes into the SWORDSMAN forums and says that the power hammer makes a mockery of the proffession?

What's the deal with this? Every TKA i see has a vibro knuckler. The vibro knuckler makes a mockery of the teras kasi profession. Sure, I know it has kinetic damage and that's all very good but come on. Anyone else agree with me on this?

I mean, it is called UNARMED and you do get UNARMED xp, so that must mean that every person with a VK is mocker of the profession because they dont actually fight UNARMED!!

And everyone knows how much we love soloing elders with our two handed cleavers

Actually my views are mixed on vibroknucklers. Without them, every tkm would have the same power and speed. As for the hammer, I wasn't saying the weapon itself isn't useful. I was just remarking on what a poor idea it was to put a hammer in a profession that uses swords. Maybe the devs could just change the hammers names and make it looklike a sword like weapon.


and BTW, I wasn't knocking the scythe, the focus of the thread is the power hammer.

's just a battle hammer.. they were used as heavy damage weapons in medieval times... Swordsman is a heavy damage profession.. Hence we get a heavy dmg weapon, brought up to date by making it Blast on impact

Why don't fencers use swords instead of a baton who ever heard of a fencer using a stun baton. SOE sat down in a board room and decided that all one handed weapons would go under a profession called fencer and all 2 handed weapons would go under a profesion called swordsmen. They are just catagories

While we're sort of vaguely on the subject, can anyone tell me why people use scythe's and why the high dmg ones go for insane amounts of money on the trade forums? Is it a non-speed capped thing? Or is there something else I'm missing?

Helpfull against certain enemies and dungeons, such as the DWB and Acklay. For instance, Super Battle Droids and other enemies in the DWB have high blast resistance, 100% in some cases.

And the fact that the only other kenetic dmg weapons we have are junk on hard stuff. THe 2h cleaver is useless,the 2h curved sword has a mitigation way too broad,2h axe is junk. The Executioner's Hack is a joke...much more looks than function (just like the Berzerker rifle) It's a downgraded Scythe.The scythe's are fast and the dmg is decent.

As for the prices, ya since the geo cave nerf the loot ya need to make decent ones are hard to find. Sets of 7 yellow cubes/solidifying agents which you can use to make 2 scythe's per use on the 2 use schem are rare now, and the Weaponsmith's don't like wasting a use on a schem. Seen as how you can only get 2 schems per swordsman, it really sucks when ya waste one of your uses. I'm sure if you get a schem, yellow geo power cubes, solidifying agents, and bring them to a Weaponsmith he won't charge you much to make the weapon. Esp if you let him use the other use on the schem. I only charge 15k in that case. Unless the person upsets me...lol, then...who knows.

Actually I agree. I'm a *swordsman* -- I want to use a sword in battle. The scythe is a sword but c'mon.....power hammer? Axe? (executioners hack) The poster above is right -- it's just a category to seperate 1-hand vs. 2-hand. But I would like to see an easily craftable two-handed *sword* that has stats to match a PH.

I agree aswell with the original post.

If they had of put any attempt into types and styles of weapons they could have made numerous other ones. The selection they have for swordsman and fencer are such a joke. But those are the issues they are seposedly fixing in the CU. I'd love to help out with the CU so that I could help make this game better. The number of things that upset mein each prof that I have tried (or still am) is limitless...lol.
