Hey all,

I recentlyhave been fooling around with various melee weapons. Now the one weapon i dont understand is the cleaver, lower ham than 2h curved, similar damage to 2h axe.

2h axe - 40 action a special

cleaver - 84 action a special

2h curved - 108 action a special

Stats on my own are.

2h Axe - 3.7 133-193 +11 range mod. 54/24/18

Cleaver - 3.4102-219 -8 range mod. 53/50/36

2h Curved - 2.6 63-246 +8 range mod. 33/66/42

While the 2h curved has higher damage, faster speed, you make up for the price in ham on specials (2h sword hit is 108 action for me).

The 2h Axe and Cleaver have a higher min damage, but slower speed that you can phase out with speed increases. The 2hcompared to this has thelowest ham per special (53 for 2h hit ) with higher min damage (31) but lower max damage (26).

The 2h Axe, a second level brawler tree cert, seems to dominate the 2h cleaver. While the 20 extra max damage is something, 50% cheaper specials and a positive range mod overide this.

I can literally spam specials using my 2h axe.

I think ive lost my point

Guess my question is does anyone actually use a 2h Cleaver Regularly? And if they could report any findings Cause it looks like a pretty nice weapon, but i do notice a large diffrence when i take out my curved on damage, and my axe on ham. Seems like a middle range weapon, dispite being a elite cert.

Maybe they'll make it heavy ap?

Yes, I'm the one who use Cleaver as my prior weapon.

It looks good, fast speed (2.6 after sliced), stable damage (110-220), average HAM cost. I'm a Twi'lek, my action bar regen very slow when compare with health and mind, so a 2-hand curved sword is not suitable for me, and it's damage is not very stable.

Power Hammer is also cool, sometimes I will use it when my health is full.

are you kiding me i love my two handed curved sword. it has a attack speed of 3.5 which i can easly fix with a power up. and i also hhae an attack rtange of 130-275 with my cleaver after it was sliced. i love this sword alot better then my curved sword i die to fast when i usemy curved sword.

Btw when did the 2h axe get that strong.the last time i checked it was like really low dmage. and really slow.i have never seen an aqxe with thoughs stat's before with 100 as it min damage. before 100 was it's max damage. was this sliced wit ha really good slice or wwhat has happened to this weapon.

The Cleaveris the better weapon than the Curved for two reasons:

1) We hit the speed cap with the Curved too fast. After Tech2 using the Curved is gimping yourself.

2) The action cost is lower and all our attacks multiply action more than health.

However, if those stats on the 2H Axe are accurate then at master that would be a very good Kinetic back up weapon (for when you're fighting a mob with high Blast resistance so the PH is bad).

I guess that technically that should read: later on in the swordsman tree the Cleaver becomes a better weapon than the Curved. The Curved is a very good weapon early on.

I havea 140-260 3.6 unsliced cleaver. I love it. I rarely ever use my hammer, and my 2H curved never really gets used anymore. Plus it looks like a mini cloud strife sword (final fantasy 7) which is cool. I have to admit my curved isnt that great. Its sliced for damage but the min damage is really low, so i end up doing very random amounts of damage with it. With the cleaver its set to an average damage output, so i rarely die from bad luck when using it.

I have a question for you guys. Right now I have 1/2/1/1 in Swordsman. I have a TwoHanded Curved Sword that is 79-249 2.6, and a TwoHanded Cleaver that is 120-220 2.8 (don't quote me on the speed, I'm at work atm and I can't see exactly what they are). My question is, would it be more beneficial for me to use the Cleaver now? I used it for awhile before when I was a low level Swordsman, and I noticed that my damage when using specials wasn't nearly as high as when I used the TwoHanded Curved Sword.

I have done a simple test by using the 2hands curved sword and cleaver for 2 days, change them in every battle to see their efficiency. I made a decision to pick up my cleaver in my pack and place my 2hands curved sword in my store room. The reason is stable damage from cleaver, and the average damage on enemies. If you are using special skill and it counts on the min damage, the marginal cost of damage will be higher. Anyway, if your character has a long action bar, fast regen in action, 2hands curved sword might be a better weapon in some way. Actually I don't think these two swords are very different.

Furthermore, I would like to know if the programmers will design some new swords with different effect, e.g. longer range, higher wound damage, electric sword (possible in StarWar world?), or 2 hands swords (ninja?). It might be cool rather than only increase the damage and other stat. You can check the new designer's response of combat system. They will make some special effect on the TKA's weapons.

Powerhammer, I only use it when using special action, especially sweep/areaattack.

this is my opinion, use a 2-handed curved till u get to the second tier in techniques and finesse, since ull need the accuracy, i have a cleaver at 121-221 at 2.6 speed, sliced obviously for speed. the +20 to accuracy in finesse 2 and the +20 to speed in tech 2 really compensates for those 2 "downsides" and ull b a lot more succesful using it than u will be using a curved, also its better to do specials with, since the ham is more balanced and our specials have the most multipliers aimed at action

so yes, the cleaver is definitely better than the 2h-curved for the higher level swordsman, and also it looks friggin sweet, my friend was like "whoa dude, that is a tight sword, what is it, the sword of destiny or sumtin"

btw, how in the hell did u get an axe that good?? i used a 5.8 63-145 or sumtin like that axe to level up with, till i got my curved sword.

I love my cleaver and I dont really use curved at all. The minimum dmg makes a little differance but i will admit the max on a curved is good. I just enjoy walking around and having people say my sword looks awsome oh yeah that and the loweraction costand 45% wound.

THe most important thing for me is match my weapon with my HAM pool. I have most of my pointsin Mind Pool to heal myself and others because of the dreaded flamthrower.

Mycleaver only has 29 mind and 32 action and 42 health (without slice or powerup) which is pretty darn friendly.

Also never underestimate powerups. If you can find a good crafter and buy these in crates they can do amazing things for your stats. You can have her/him adjust them even further to match you HAM and armor.

As for armor I use Ubese which a crafter made for 45% kinetic. I don't where a helmet and the HAM costs are only in the 20-40 range.

I got off track but not entirely

I have never used the cleavers,

went from 2 hand curved to a "after patch" power hammer.

The power hammer is my primary weapon now, after an awesome slice its speed is 3.8 seconds and with powerup is doing incredible amounts of damage, A couple of things you need to pay attention to is accuracy of the weapons, and armor piercing. Cleaver is light i belive. 2h curved and power hammer are both Medium armor piercing. Right now with a power hammer 2 hand hit2 and, mind hit2. I do on either of those attacks for 1199 -4500 damage a hit, being wookie i can keep dishing out these attacks with no real hit to my health bar and a little bit of a hit to my action.

Agreed if the 2 hand axe or heavy axe damage has increased to close to 300 i may start using that as a back up kinetic weapon,

on a seprate note did a mission on Dathomir for reptilan flyers, took out all the mobs pretty quick. but man took me i guess 5-10 minutes to take the nest out it had 50,000 hit points and even using the power hammer and 2 hand hit 2 wich i should get 1115- 3500 damage a hit i was only getting 500-1115 a hit. so i just did the normal attack and was getting 300-500 a hit. I think they over did the nest/base defense and ham just a bit.
