I've always noticed low damage on lairs when using blast weapons. I first noticed this with my commando well before they improved lair HP's. It was about the only time I used my flamer before the heavies got a fix.

Your max damage will be lower, however your average damage will be slightly higher. Honestly, neither one of those is an especially good sword. However the DPS of the cleaver is slightly higher and the HAM costs are also more manageable so I'd say go with the Cleaver. But, my real suggestion is to go buy a very good 2H Axe and get it sliced for speed.

The power hammer is my primary weapon now, after an awesome slice its speed is 3.8 seconds and with powerup is doing incredible amounts of damage, A couple of things you need to pay attention to is accuracy of the weapons, and armor piercing. Cleaver is light i belive. 2h curved and power hammer are both Medium armor piercing. Right now with a power hammer 2 hand hit2 and, mind hit2. I do on either of those attacks for 1199 -4500 damage a hit, being wookie i can keep dishing out these attacks with no real hit to my health bar and a little bit of a hit to my action.

Agreed if the 2 hand axe or heavy axe damage has increased to close to 300 i may start using that as a back up kinetic weapon,

I'm sorry to tell you this, but all our weapons besides the Heavy Axe (newbie weapon) and the Gimpy...err I mean Vibro Axe are AR2.

Secondly at higher skill levels, the 2H Axe is better than the Cleaver now. It's slower but its damage is equal or higher (depending on the quality), meanwhile it's HAM cost is lower.

Actually, that depends on what server you are on and what quality resources are available. It's highly possible cobalt iron or whatever other resurces a cleaver takes, are not very good. Or perhaps the resources an axe takes are extremely good quality.

heres the delima i have run into

2 handed curved sword - 80-372 damage 2.6 speed

2 handed cleaver - 132-321 damage 3.4 speed

power hammer - 132-709 damage 5.4 speed

all weapons have been sliced for damage and using a 32% max damage powerup. i am currently 1/2/1/2 in heavy swordsman. now my question is, what should i use as my primary weapon. i am a human and cant swing the hammer like it was nothing. im not factoring in HAM costs (because i cant remember them off the top of my head) just from a damage/speed raito witch one is better? thanks

I also have a backup power hammer that is 132 -698 before powerup5.4 speed but with the accuracy is "-34 on 0, 3,5m" of these weapons speed is working better for me with the power hammer. And remeber 2.8 sec - 2.2 seconds is the effective speed cap. Andyour skills will take the 2.8 to 1 sec.I have also noticed the optimal hit zone with power hammer is 3-4m, point blank = wiff a lot

I never seen 33%max dmg melee power up, care to show me a screen?

Oh, the power hammer i use is 175-599 5.3speed(28%dmg sliced), highest melee power up i seen in game is 17%.. if i had a 30% my hammer would be 779 max dmg

I have a 86-328/2.5 2hand curved sword and a 468/4.1 Power Hammer that I use depending on the mob. I've looked at Cleavers, but after getting the 35% dmg slice on my curved there really wasn't any point.

I dunno, those numbers look weird to me. Especially the powerhammer. Are the variances also different between servers, or do weapons generally have similar variances? My powerhammer is 155-533 sliced, no powerups. Add 33% to 533, I get the same top end damage, I would suspect the low end to go up as well tho...
