Thread: One handed shields for melee

Just an idea I had...to late to search the boards to see if someone else had brought it up already

Here is what I have already submited using the "submit feedback" tool.

"Why not give them one handed shields (with encumberance of course) that can absorb damage (depending on the armorsmith skill) and the better shields could deflect certain types of blasts & redirect it back at the shooter (Like the shield the Gungans used in Episode I). Maybe even a cone of protection? Only able to deflect from the front (naturaly) so if they are attacked from the back they get hit....could help with team PVP as two melee could work back to back. OR they could be used to defend the "front lines" on group PVP?"

Figure this gives armorsmiths an extra toy to play with. And helps out the melee guys a bit...but may unbalance things (even more?) as i only think TKA and Swordsmen will be able to use it. Ranged combat classes already have the advantage in that they have...uh...ranged abilites.

and seeing as PSG's dont last very long at all....perhaps this is a different solution?

Commets?

i was thinking the same thing... but it would have to be for fencers, not 2h swordsman... we need both hands to fight

I had the same idea, with the slightly simliar result, ours is not 2 hand sword but heavy swordsman so it is possible and the incumbrance would be no special attack.

I did bring this idea up before, Bolas

for a ranged tangle effect for pvp and vs npc's to slow their kiting selves down. and make is so only all lvl 4 melee catagories can use it. like a trap one time use and low to moderate fail to tangle. would help us out alot

I was surprised to find there is no shield in this game... except the one called "energy shield"... is it the same as shown in Ep.1? Anyway, shield might be used by Fencer... with their one hand sword in pair. But I think a heavy sword should also has its defence effect in some way...

If two handed people really wanted a shield, they could maybe have some sort of strap on buckler (you know, a little tiny shiled).

"So I swoop upon the foe, and I will slay,
I will hew them into pieces, I will dash them into dust;
Like Baal in his strength, on their rearward, lo! I fell,
And I killed them, none escaped me, and I slew, and slew, and slew."

I rather they give us dual wield and give the shields to them Fencers.

There are such things as MK3 Shields with 27% resist to everything on my server. They burn out fast though.

wow, iamdaniel just made a good suggestion having the ability to wield two of a fencer's puny swords would be nice.

Hm, I don't want to wield two of Fencer's puny swords. I wanna use two 2-handed curved swords, like Barbs in D2. Hehe.

there is a reason they are called TWO HANDED. lol might be kinda hard to carry one of those in just one hand

I was really surprised when they didn't include the shields from Episode One. Those things were just cool, and would've fit well within the game.

But, so could have about 90% of the movies... but sadly, they only got 2%.
