Thread: Incoming Damage Calculator

I decided to create this in PHP form today (I've had it on my calculator a while).

Basically, you input the values it asks for, and it will tell you the min, average, and maximum damage a mob can do to you (if you don't know the exact damage ranges of a creature, you can assume them )

Nice start, but you are missing some calculations.

You ask for armor resists, but fail to adjust for difference between NPCs and MOBS hitting with AP0,1,2,3and the armor we wear being AR1. This is a big difference since that means the there is an automatic reduction of 50% on top of the armor's resists.

example:

you ask for armor reists, and I put in 80%, all other mods as 0, dmg 500-500 the response was 100. Which is true if I got hit by a AP1 wpn (which happens rarely in PVE, and more often in PVP, but if you are doing PVP, there is no75%PVP reduction thrown in your calculation)

If a rancor hit me for 500dmg, the response would be (500-50%)-80%=50. That's a big difference.

Now, seeings how this is the swordsman forum, many of the weapons we have are AP2, which adds a +25% bonus when hitting an AR1 armor, and +25%+25% when hitting NPCs and Mobs with no armor rating.

If 1337Dude hits me with his PH in PVP, the response would be [(500-75%)+25%]-80%= 31.5 (if I did the math right )

Hope that helps you with your calculations...the other mods you had in there looked like they were calculating correctly.

I thought of the ap rating stuff earlier today, and I figured someone would catch me on that

By the way, I took toughness as a 10th of what it reads, rather than adirect conversion.

Ex. 48 tougness is a 4.8% reduction

I read a few forums posts that state it is a direct conversion (i.e. 48 toughness is a48% reduction)

Any insight on that? Easy to fix, if I assumed incorrectly

Just thought of something, perhaps you can include damage mitigation in there too =) And I was under the impression that toughness was a direct conversion, but i've never actually gotten down in there to test it. Some field tests could sort that out I reckon.

The amount of forum posts on the subject have made me decide to change it to a correct conversion.

I'll attempt to do mitigation, but I'll need to find out the percentages, which as a master, I can't really do myself

(And with my perception of how mitigation works, it sounds difficult )

This is from when damage mitigation was introduced...not sure if it's still accurate though.

If you are hit with a melee weapon that does 1-100 points of damage and you have melee damage mitigation 3, the damage range we actually use becomes 1-40. This is because melee damage mitigation 3 limits the operative damage range to 40% of the original value.

Level 1 damage mitigation limits damage to 80% of the range

Level 2 damage mitigation limits damage to 60% of the range

Level 3 damage mitigation limits damage to 40% of the range

I hope it's of help.
