3. Lack of weapons. The starting weapon is a heavy axe. Good weapon, BUT the next best weapon is a 2H cleaver, which can only be made by a MASTER melee WEAPONSMITH. I think that's a bit too much of a gap. Please give us more weapon choices.

The current situation is like this:

Right nowwe have 2 swords (curved, cleaver) opposed to 3 axes (heavy, 2handed, vibro), a power hammer and a non-existing scythe at our disposal.

So yes....in my opinion there is a lack of swords out there for us SWORDSmen and i wouldn't mind seeing more of them.

Regarding some issues regarding the power hammer, and i have posted this before, i am still pretty convinced that it IS a powerful weapon.

The quality of a weapon depends on quite a few aspects like experimentation and quality of resources used and i guess also how far up the tree a weaponsmith is and i am sure that right now neither best quality possible resources, nore highest experimentation haven't been reached yet...it's simply still too early...

The 2h curved i use for example right now has damage going up to 186 i think....the one i owned in beta went up to 200 and i'm pretty convinced that we can still go higher than that....same for the power hammer. i think we need to be a little bit more patient to be able to tell which weapon will give us most in stats...

Besides that we don't know yet what the game is still hiding from us.

There is for example a 1h sword out there you only can get as a reward for completing one of the themeparks out there....i don't know very much about the stats on 1h weapons but i've seen it the other day and the stats didn't look that bad i think....

As usual: feedback very welcome

I definitely think a wider range of weapons is needed. I hate to play the casual gamer card, but I will anyway. That huge gap between the heavy axe and the cleaver is even bigger for non-powergamers. I'm not saying that I want handouts because I'm a casual gamer (this game caters to us enough) but I think that more types of lower and middle level 2H weapons would definitely add some more interest to the grind. I don't want to become a master swordsman and be able to say that I onlyusedthree different weaponsalong theway.

The main problem I had as a newbie swordsman is the fact that you are almost forced into using Heavy axe until you reach Mastery. It makes no sense that the weapons that we use at Expert and Advanced need to be constructed by a master but the weapons we get at master can be used by an expert weaponsmith.

What I would like to see is a bit more flavor in the weapons, to give us a reson to use them.

I would really like to see the cert we get at novice swordsman to be a sword - the fact that we get a hammer then is really discouraging. I really love my katana though - havent given it up yet.

The other main issue I would like to bring up to you, which I know is a bit off the topic, is the difficulty of "sticking" to targets, mainly players. Because of the server code sometimes I am running RIGHT on top of an enemy swinging and "out of range" since the server thinks he is too far away. I know we are supposed to be at a disadvantage to ranged users who kite us around, but I would like to at least be able to hit him if I can hit him on my screen, or have some kind of method of tailing him server side so that way when I do my attacks I wont lose ham to being "out of range" =)

I feel like the gunboys have all the love........I think the gap problem was addressed spot on in this thread. The margin of weapons between the Heavy Axe/Sword to the Elite class melee weapons is HUGE compared to other weapons*cough*rifles*cough*pistols*cough*

I'm not beooching about the weapons that we do have, I'm just a little annoyed that more melee type weapons weren't introduced into the beginning of SWG and current weaponsmiths don't seem towant to expand on melee weapons either, again the love goes to the gunboys................its really bad (Lowca) when your trying to find a decent vibro axe or other elite melee weapons and theres only 2 names that come up........Zeto and Kammi.............

Has anyone even seen a 2 handed cleaver? I've seen a power hammer, but I haven't seen a cleaver..........is the Vibro cert bugged?

A word to weaponsmiths of Lowca, a good solid melee weapon is the lifeblood a swordsman and we are willing to pay top dollar for a good one, so please take a break from those damned laser rifles and spray sticks and show a little love by making a mythological 2 handed cleaver or 2hd curved sword If you can plase email me and I'll be willing to pay your price........

I think all melee's should get more weapon choices that don't require a master weaponsmith or resources that don't exist yet. Right now as a swordsman on my server, it's either a two handed curved, a heavy axe, or a two handed axe. I know of one who can make two handed cleavers, but they don't have decent damage or attack speed in comparison. The bridge between what a weapons' max capability is based on weaponsmith ability and the base of a weapon type of higher requirements is too broad too.

I think the lack of melee weapons is strictly business right now, everyone wants to be a rifleman, pistoleer, Marksman, and Bounty Hunter and all these professions basically require a gun of sorts and where does that leave the Swordsman, Pikeman, and Fencer? ..............well, not in a very happy place.........I'm really amazed at the amount of damage that a TK can do versus a skilled swordsman.............its disheartning to say the least...........BUT I love my profession!

Not sure about more weapons (there a not a whole lot of weapons in the game for anyone), but more swords. When I first started out in the profession, looked all over for a sword to start out with, was very surprised thatI had to use an axe until mastery.

We could answer this question if we were able to compare all of the weapon choices available to each other. With a heavy axe I never had HAM issues doing specials, with my 2h curved sword I do.

It may not be a problem with not enough weapons, but more so that weapons are not yet available. Its the same for other classes as well (ranged). Many of them don't have their best weapons either because the resources are not available yet.

I used a heavy axe until I hit novice swordsman just beacuse there was nothing else out there and I saw no real need to make any changes while grinding.

We should really make a thread where we can post 'complete' weapon stats from in-game so that we can make some comparisons across these weapons before we send out cries for more or different weapons for this profession.

The main problem I have with the weapons we have is that there really isn't any variety other than higher damage and a different graphic, as far as I can tell. I am also a rifleman, and the different rifles actually have different attributes. I carry around several rifles and have them all hotkeyed, and will switch between them depending on the situation, i.e., different mobs, different ranges, etc. For swordsmen, there doesn't seem to be a reason to use anything but your most damaging weapon. I think that weapons should have either procs associated with them, or swordsmen should get weapon-specific abilities.

This has been mentioned above, but I don't think anyone got to the actual problem with 2H Cleavers. The problem is that swordsmen get the cleaver at expert level, and the 2H curved sword at master level, BUT weaponsmiths get cleaver at master level, and the 2H sword at expert level. So for thoseof us that are leveling up while the weaponsmiths are leveling up, we basicallymiss out on the use of the cleaver. In theory, once the weaponsmiths get high enough, future swordsmenshould be able to get their hands on the cleaver and there won't be so muchof a gap. Of course, this doesn't doUS any good.

well, by the time the weaponsmith level up they want a pay off and the only quick way to get paid right now is in the firewarms department...............the most I've seen a Vibro Axe for is 10K, the highest I've seen a laser based firearm at is 19K and theelite firearmssell like condoms at a West Virginian family reunion versus the slow moving amd slow creating melee weapons..........theres just no money in it for weaponsmiths right now.........

YES

Marksmen classes often get more than one weapon type with a new skill they aquire. Why shouldnt Swordsmen (or brawlers in general)

Not only that, its silly to think that half our weapons arent even swords.

In addition to axes and hammers, we should at least get a new SWORD with each new skill level gained where a weapon type is earned.

Its called variation, and its SERIOUSLY lacking when it comes to melee weapons.
