Thread: New 2H weapon ideas
...wouldn't the actual style, movements, techniques required for such a weapon be more those of a pikeman ?
..but then i haven't seen that episode for awhile...

Dai-katanas were also called Odachi and No-Dachi.
I'm not exactly sure what the difference were between Odachi and No-dachi.
Nor do I know the real use for either one (well at least in combat. I know Odachi's were used as flag holders and Shrine-use)
No-Dachis were infantry weapons used by (insane) footsoldiers to take out cavalry. They were cumbersome, semi-akward (its bigger than you, what do you expect) and if swung right gave you breathing room in battle. Not used very often but they look impressive. They were just good for whacking at a horse or horseman without having to be very close or stabbing (i.e. Spears, which were probly better for defensive weapons).
Oh, and Vibro Lances are electricity damage...and every time I've seen one portrayed in a comic/game/artwork they are more liketaser on a reinforced stick.
Hmm yeh, that'd make more sense for a Pikeman.
It seems a lot harder to come up with some new sword concepts aside from the standard add "vibro" in front of it ![]()
I would like to see a twin-bladed "Shatterstar" sword...

...and swords with spiked handguards.
I don't have any new weapon ideas at the moment but it'd be nice if Swordsman (and fencers too I suppose) could get a wearable scabbard. Even if it were just cosmetic purposes. It'd look a little more reasonable then just holding your sword in your hand the entire time you were outside of combat. Just a thought that doesn't seem like it would be too hard to implement.
I want a two-handed sword that stands taller than I with a massive body. High damage and slow speed like the power hammer. 150-400 6.0 or something like that. Something to brag about and make people's heads turn! Something that will make people ask "Jez, how the heck is he suppose to get that on a shuttleport?"
Just switch out the power hammer graphics for a gigantic sword graphics. That'dbe just as good.
Well, I don't know how many of you people do pen-and-paper RPGs but the D20 Star Wars put out by wizards of the coast actually had the kinda laser sword that we want in one of the expansions. It was an old style lightsaber that used a crude looped laser (so at a certain distance it did a 180degree turn and came back into the hilt and not off into infinity). Didn't block lasers (wasn't a semi-weird solid laser) or do any neat things, just burned crap.
I'd like that.
You know, I don't know why everyone is afraid to say it, but I'd venture to guess that 90% + of the swordsman that are out there in this game are not die-hard warriors rejects from other games like EQ, but players lost in the fantasy of becoming a Jedi. This is Star Wars right, if we weren't going to be using "meat"(blasters), wouldn't we be using "potatoes"(light-sabers),
So loudly and proudly - Give us a "lightsaber"!!! Why should Jedis have all the fun???
Not being a Jedi never kept Han Solo from slashing open the Tauntaun's belly in ESB. I don't remember the lightsaber exploding on Han because of his inability to "use the force" (let alone believe in it). Hell, if Han had had more skill maybe he could have even chased down and killed the Wampa with Luke's lightsaber.
Honestly, what would keep a Master Swordsman or Master Fencer from being able to utilize a lightsaber with great proficiency? The short answer. . . nothing! And that is basically what I am saying. Use ofa lightsaber ought to be the reward for finishing the long, hard path of completing the Master level of either sword-class.
Make it like the epic quest in EQ. Once you have achieved Master Swordsman/Fencer, you get the quest from the Swordsman/Fencer trainer to get the parts for your lightsaber and then maybe you take those parts to an NPC -like the two at the Jedi temple on Dantooine (the lady Jedi and the Sith Lord) and they could construct it for you, depending on whether you were aligned light or dark. . .
Even then without use of "The Force" you could still do some helacious damage with your lightsaber in battle, even if you couldn't divert laser-blasts through use of the force.
The game has been developed so far with the idea that "lightsabers" like Jedi are extremely rare. So too are Master Swordsman and Fencers. . .with all of the crap we have to deal with in our classes (getting killed from a distance by a noobie with a CDEF rifle, or getting pistol whipped by some idiot while we hold our 3-4' blade in his face), this would be a nice reward at the end of a tough path.
If swordsman or Fencers were allowed to use Lightsabers to full potential then a huge percentage of people playing the game would be Fencers or Swordsman.
..we can certainly take that up sooner or later but you might also want to check DevTracker whereyou can find2 threads runnign right now posted a couple of days ago by an animation designer i think to collect ideas about new animations.
They were originally looking for ideas for social animations but as far as i could see there are ideas for all kind of animations now stated there.
Gorecki
Lightsabers are two-handed swords. If everyone could use them then only swordsman would be able to use specials with them and only Jedi's would be able to fully use them. I'm all for it!
A laser Axe..
It has a shaft and head like an axe except were the blade goes it's a laser..
that would be sweet..
