I'm not sure if I understand the gripe that people make about a profession being a so called "FOTM". Are we saying that if you master a profession before another player, that you are somehow better than them? Swordsman was my first mastered profession, but I dont look down upon a person that see's how much fun I have with it, and decides to roll one up for himself to be on any sort of swordsman bandwagon. Hell its that persons $15 per month they can play any profession they choose.
Its as if some of you guys think we have some sort of trademark on the profession. If you want to be anyting, you should be flattered that a person see's how well your chosen profession performs with you behind the controls, and wants to emulate your character.
No one is going to nerf a swordsman....I can understand that fear (tkm, cm's) So be nice to the new masters, most of they are just trying to have a good time playing this game.

On Scylla we used to be really rare, though lately I am seeingthe odd onein caves here and battles or starportsthere.Still alot more Rifle/TKM or Rifle/Fencer in PvP though.

For a while we were pretty rare on Tempest but now I get asked for training 1- 2 times every time I am on.
And I have to say, for the person comparing TKM and MHS, I was TKM and I do WAY more damage with my hammer than I ever did with my knucks.

Wow thats funny... even for an O.G. hardcore like me to see our profession as a FOTM. Your going to have a hell of a time making this work well as you'd like in PvP. Were not all that... but PVE is another thing.

I am master swordsmen and my buddy is TKM. When it comes to fighting mobs, he will outdamage me, but the mind will incap first (by me) While he does spitting rawl for 3-4k dmg every hit, to a random pool, i do 1-4k every hit to a single pool. So yes, a TKM can outdamage you, but you can still take down the same mob faster because of your concentrated hits.

I don't know about FOTM, but it is a lot more popular, I mastered it about a month ago, and was working on it for around 3 months before I finally said screw it, and grinded my way to master so I could get it, and recenly I have noticed there are a lot more people walking around with a swordsman title. I think the scythe may have been what made people change, it definitely is not the best for PvP though we can do it.
*shrug* whatever makes them happy, I picked it cause at the time there were very few, and I liked the ability to dmg mind from riflemen (which was what I was before) so I chose Swordsmen. I plan on sticking with it for a long while though, I just like the focus towards dealing damage that it has vs. defense
what can I say I am a bit suicidal
