Moosemanuk,

There are also lots of games out there that force you to group to do anything. Those games are not well known because they are not well played. People do not join games to have to group with someone else just to build a little xp. Anarchy Online is a good example of this. Also, multiplayer does not in anyway imply grouping. It means more than 1 person can play in the same world, thats all. Different people have different play styles. Some like to group, some like to solo. That is why there are solo classes like ranger and bounty hunter. I do not think you should have to be forced to group just to be able to play the same game as everyone else.

Now, before you start complaining, I do not believe that a single character should be able to solo everything in the game. I think there should be a limit to what a single person should be able to kill. That limit is NOT set to a duma. You should be able to face a rancor on your own. An enraged rancor should take some help, and an ancient rancor bull should take several people. But what I think people are talking about is that SOE is going to make it where you have to group to kill anything above the most simple MOBS, and I think that is wrong. If you are so dead set about wanting a game where you are forced to group, then perhaps Anarchy online is more for you. Otherwise, let those of us who like to solo alone.

"Everyone dies sometime. The question is do you die doing what you enjoy?"

Thanks for responding, sorry it has taken me a day to come back. In your second paragraph you state some great points, that there should bea sort of grading system where you know you are going to need X people to kill this mob, Y people to kill that mob, and you know what you can solo. I agree with this, and hope that the devs are going to put something like this in. My original post was in reaction to the thread title that the CU will "mess up SWG". This is what I disagree with, the idea that not being able to solo the toughest mobs in the game is somehow going to break SWG - that is rubbish. And that as a Swordsman I might have a better chance in PvP, and that grouping up (like we all used to do in the old days, remember those?) will become an option once again.

Personally speaking though, being grouped is my style of play - I never go anywhere and solo stuff really, unless I feel like doing a little of my Jedi grind, and even then its quantity not quality that counts (try walking from one starport to the other on Endor and killing everything you see, cap xp in one buff session! Oh er, except the rogue SBD's all over the place now ... ). So although what works for me (social) doesn't necessarily work for someone else (solo), I for one welcome the proposed CU changes (albeit speculation at this point), but it gives me no right to criticize another's style of play - apologies if any offence was caused

There's a huge differense between not being able to solo at all and not being able to solo everything.

While you definately shouldn't be able to solo the high end stuff like krayts and nightsisters, you should be able to solo missions you can pull on your own for example. I think and hope this is the way the devs are doing it.

no, i heared "rumors" that a lair of rancors will take about 20 tkms

Maybe I'm off base here, but "rumors"?!? Come on... And also, you can pull Rancor missions on your own? I haven't checked recently, but that never happened for me... maybe I should go try again.

If the devs would return the loot message, I sure as hell would not mind grouping. But now, whats the point if everyone in your group "COULD BE THE NINJA LOOTER!!" The fact that loot that doesn't suck and is not absolutely useless is so rare is the reason people do not group Who wants to get in a group of 5-10 to kill nightsisters if your chances of looting a crystal for example are 1 in 5/10? One person goes home with that "T0T4LLY UB3R P1K3!" while the rest get rebel transmission disks. This fact alone discourages grouping as does ninja looting.

Just my two credits but f*ck, in this economy thats alot!

I think the fact that people can take a krayt dragon on one on one is a bit over the top. Now I think a master elite profession with the best equipment should be able to fight offa a NS spellweaver by themselves but not a krayt dragon not a kimogila either those huge critters oughta take a few people to do. I'm not saying it should take 20 people to kill one low level NS by no means should it. I am saying it should take 3-5 master profs to kill a krayt dragon. And a group of about 10-15 people all master profs with very widespread skills and ppl who also have half a brain to tear up DWB im thinking 5-10 well trained intelligent ppl to tear up the corvette.
