Jubei from Ninja Scroll was so badass, or else anyone ever see The Sword and the Sorscerer, think Talon was his name, had a bigass three bladed sword. That dude was hard!

I'd say Highlander is a good pick (the TV series, not the movies).
I enjoyed all the FF games a lot but I dunno about those guys here. The genres clash rather severely for me. *shrug*

Yeah I remember that one. Wasn't that made by SNK for Neo Geo. I think it was also out for the other consoles, including 3DO.

Samurai Showdown was great! I'd have to pick Ukyo over the rest though for my Swordsman choice from that game

Heh heh....now HE was a Heavy Swordsman.......Guts.....
Most of theswordsman peoplenamed above, the Japanese ones anyway, used a 1-handed sword....not a 2-handed.....alot of people don't know the difference on this boards lol............If you can wield thesword with 1 hand AND 2 hands, it's a 1-handed sword. If you can't wield it with 1 hand (because of weight and especially size)and only 2 hands, it's a 2 handed sword.........
1samurai in the Seven Samurai used a REAL 2-handed sword.

Yes, thats correct
SNK went bankrupt a little while ago though, and they were taken over by SNK-Playmore who recently released SS5 and totally fudged it up.. shame

Yes Ukyo is very cool, but all his moves are 1-Handed attacks

Miyamoto Musashi to be sure...he was TOO much of a badass with a sword for me NOT to pick him...hell, he developed the damn two-sword fighting style too!

Highlander was the main reason I made a swordsman char.
Another thing that made me love swordsman more was the last samurai

I don't know about the Seven Samurai, but I have to disagree with your definition of what is a two-handed sword. Its not accurate to describe a swordsman simply based on the weight and size of the sword they use.
Technically, the huge swords like a claymores, dai-katanas or SWG's cleaver are called two and a half-handed swords. Strictly one-handed swords are like european fencing swords, roman and nordic shorter swords (think of what Boromir's sword is like in LOTR) mid-eastern style scimitars or shorter oriental style swords like wakizashi's.
That leaves a lot of swords somewhere in the middle and whether they are two-handed or one-handed really depends on the technique. Most Samurai (or at least what Kendo forms are based on) use two-handed styles. Look at the footwork and stances, most attacks require fully body motions to swing the sword. Every once in a while you might see a quick thrust or even a full swing in which the left hand comes off the hilt (either back for balance or actually behind the right hand resting against the wrist.) That does not mean its a one-handed sword though. Ask yourself if they could have pulled of that move without their other hand and entire body for support. Could they possibly hold a shield in the left hand, are they prancing around like a frenchman with an exaggerated knife? Hell no, they're Swordsman!
