Thread: So... is a 2H Sword TOO powerful?
Kiting can be a pain, yes. That's why you just run around a corner or something when they start doing it. Although I'm not that far, our last AE attack in the offensive line says that it does dizzy AND posture change. If this is the case, with that, it will be much easier to stop kiters. You could also get expert 1H if you wanted, which gets a good dizzy attack, and swap between 1H and 2H...though I'm too lazy for that myself.
Rifle/Carbine/Pistol gets to attack froma DISTANCE the whole time the 2hander/melee/brawler is trying to approach the target.
The BALANCE is that when and *IF* the 2hander gets in range hes going to take you out in 1-2 hits.
because in fact many times the brawler or specialist melee class wont ever get in range folks.
Its not even close to over powered, it is in fact over balanced in favor of range weapons .. and its almost impossibly hard to balance range vs melee - I think they did as well as they could given the situation but its still a really tough spot for melee's to be mowed down by a smart carbine weidler who just runs away. We NEVER NEVER GET IN A SINGLE HIT. Hows that balanced?
Just to end the discussion... 23-216dmg, 2.8 speed 2h curved sword. That'sunsliced.Faster than 1h, twice the dmg. Of course you needa be master 2h to use it, that's still insanedamage.
I'm gonna start my 2h today ;D

Yeah, that does look very nice (what server by chance?
) However i know for a fact that there are Guns already out there that are comparable and even better.....Melee VS range still needs some work....But its always like this in these games at the begining
Us "one-Shoting" them is not the answer....Even though it is a given thatif they let us get into melee range then they deserve to die. It just Opens the door up for Greifing though.
But honestly, you have to be pretty **edit** good and perhaps lucky to beat someone who is kiting you. We really do have it pretty tough in PvP, but we certainly aren't weak.

There may be. But I doubt they have an attack as powerful as our two hand hit, or even berserk.
Heh, I hit for a new record last night....3330 damage. I'd like to see ranged beat that!
But even so, I think we are fairly balanced, all things considered. If someone kites me and i can't stop it, guess what I do. I run the opposite direction! Either they stand still and let me kill them, or they try to kite and I just retreat. Either way they don't win.
3300!?!?! Crap! thats impresive....Now i have to ask, What was your target? Was it a Player?(unarmored? Prone?...ect) Newbie Area Creature? Rancor
?...hehe What did you hit? haha
Also, you still using that same sword i assume....not a 500damage 10second swinged right? ![]()
Believe it or not, it was a shot to a standing red con rebel NPC. I was amazed myself. I assume you just rarely hit thetop damage of your weapon (One reason why I was upset when slicing upped damage instead of speed on my sword.).
But you can't really base anything off this. Curved swords have huge damage varience....I'll hit as low as 200 frequently, yet over 1000 as well (With 2H hit 2 and berserk.). I actually find my two handed axe to be more reliable, doing around 700 damage average but with far less fluctuation. But I don't use it simply because I can't stand axes.
Just an add to the other guy's response, at 2nd Block of 2h I had master weaponsmith make me a curved sword - about the same damage output as mentioned above with 2.6 speed - again unsliced. I'm taking out crazy mobs in PvE and found that I pretty much have to attack yellow and red cons to even hit more than once. Haven't dealved into PvP yet, but I've played this type of class before and it's all about sneaky tactics and keeping your hiney alive when you can. Let the kiters run away, I'll run down someone that is focusing on someone else...he won't see me coming until it's too late....muahahaha.
Besides, you have to know coming into any melee class other than TKA that you are not going to be a PvP God. Dying is all part of PvP and unfortunately for us, that means we either die a lot or learn to adapt our play styles. Some may say out play styles are cheesy, but hey - until they fix it to where we stand a decent chance going toe to toe with some ranged classes...we will do what we must.
i just think it amusing that they keep screwing with the classes to balance PvP. What happens when they have totally ruined PvP for certain professions? The player will then have to look for PvE and game content. Is there any? Is there enough to hold someone's interest? I think not. What can you really do other than the theme parks..the missions that work that is? You run through these theme park missions that may or may not work and then what? You get cheesy items in return with no value whatsoever.....and the incentive is?
Point being if they ruin PvP and people start focusing more on game content there will be a lot more disappointment then there is now.
you all who are below 2-2-2-2 or sumthin around there will think its great, but just wait, and youll realize one day when your a high level swordsman beside a low level pistoleer or tka, and they are beating the same mobs just as easy as you are, without half the effort.
This post was last posted on on 7/14, why on earth bring this topic back to the top when

Given that the game has changed so much, might it not be reasonable to assume that the views expressed in this thread, prior to your bumping, might just be OFF a tad?
Say NO to necrobumping.
