Two handed swordsman.....I always thought it means you use two hands on the sword, because of the weight, ie, the powerhammer, albeit not a sword..lol. I think it would be silly if we got to weild two swords at once. This proffession should be pushing for HUGE swords, that do massive damage, but are slower than Fencers.

Okay, let's all buy some swords. I'll buy two.

You fight me with your one, I'll go after you with two and we'll see who wins.

Pistoleer might just be my new profession (in addition to this)

Yay for dual-wielding.

Just fyi...the game doesn't not consider us two-handed. The actual coded name for our profession is:

"Swordsman." Not "Two-Handed Swordsman" or "Heavy Swordsman."

The actual database calls it just a "Swordsman." Or Swordsperson I guess if you're a girl.

well, ourskill mods areTwo handed melee speed, Two handed melee accuracy, Two handed melee toughness, etc, butlet's not get hung up on namesand titles...the one thing that most identifies us is thatwe wield our weapons with two hands on the hilt.dual wielding would shatter thatprecedent, soit's not for us

fencers holding 2 weapons thats seriously screwed up,

i mean ive watched fencing tournaments in rl

and NOT ONCE did a guy whip out another blade and start jabbing the guy with it

it defeats the whole purpose of them being a finess and stylish class

but pisoleers i agree with

Logic would dictate that since you guys are HEAVY swordsmen, you would all have the STRENGTH to hold 2 swords. Now the **edit** dancing fruit fencers dont really come off strong to me. Logically the swordsmen should get duel wield and not the fencers, for a 2hand swordsman uses both of his hands thus being able to hold 2 swords, while a 1hand swordsman uses but one hand to hold his sword and the other hand to do that gay stance thing you see in fencing. If the fencers lost the ability to flail their other arm about in a lame manner they would probably fall over. Honestly though I say give it to both professions. Swordsman with a cleaver in one hand and a scyfe in the other. Fencer withgaf batonin one hand and a midget curved swordin the other. Hmm one sounds ridiculously cooler than the other. I'll let you decide which one that is.

Let pistoleers and fencers dual wield: swordsmen and pikemen should tri-wield. Nothing would be scarier then arodian coming at youswingingtwopowerhammers and a 2-handed curved sword all at the same time! Master Swordsmen should have the option to quad-wield, but only with heavy penalties. While we are at it, we should be able to ride two mounts at the same time by standing up with a footon each one. What fear can we strike into the hearts of others as we are balanced between 2 Carrion Spats, holdinga power hammer in each hand and one under each arm? You can't get much scarier then that, now can you? Well maybe using five powerhammers, but that might be unbalancing, but it would look cool!

just had to repost this gem from an old dual wield discussion... lol!

Well, the fencers are justified in history as a dual weilding like style with the Floritine (I hope I didn't butcher that too much) fighting style of a rapire and mani gauche, as the samurai's katana was only a hand and a half sword, not like the european claymores or such. Also the downside is that with two swords, you have to divide your strength between both blades, and not just all into one. (Ie a guy with two longsword *may* be able to kill two men at once, but the guy with the big sword can near always kill a single man)

Now that tri-weild thing is just silly =P. An Idea would be to increase basic damage in swordsman weapons and lower ham costs... "You can swing five times before I do... but ya know? I'll still be standing after that..... you wont be."

...granted I think dual weilding a pair of curved swords or cleaves would be nice to see.....

Just to instert my two creds:

French and Spanish Fencers both commonlyused a Main Gauche,or similarlight off-handed dagger, for bothdefense and opportunistic attacks

The Japanese Samurai (refered to repeatedly in this forums as the epitome of the Swordsman) habitualy carried a smaller version of the Katana, the Wakizashi, wich was use in the off had as a defensive weapon on rare occasions.

The Chinese had several martial arts styles that used two identical light, machete like swords in conjuntion to both defen and attack at incredible speeds.

Saying that one class should have dual wield and another shouldn't is entrily a matter of presective. On top of that i realy don't see the casue for so much argument seeing as the dev's will do as the see fit. Lets wait and see what happens before we raise a stink about it.

Ok this feels like Deja Vu for some reason, because I think i already posted this somewhere??????? HELP

anyways I think Ill take my chance and post it again.....

Two handed weapons are used by placing two hands on asword, Its called a two handed weapon because itrequires two hands placed on the little hadnle thinga majjiger to use it. Every race in this game has two hands.... maybe we need a race with 4.

I believe the word you're looking for is "hilt".

Whether we're called a 2handed swordsman or a heavy swordsman, we're still basically the samurai class, and whilst samurai did occasionally use a wakizashi, it was for defence, a katana is a two handed sword, a wakizashi is actually a **edit** sword, it's designed for one or two hands, while a tanto is a one handed dagger, I believe that a wakizashi/tanto combination would be the best way to wield two blades effectively as a katana is simply too bloody long, your enemy would be able to get enough leverage to twist it out of your hand or at least dramatically reduce the strength of your blows.

Claymores, Katanas, every long blade out there pretty much has to be held with two hands to be effective unless the wielder has forearms like Popeye.

On the other hand (no pun intended), Geonosians have 4 hands, can we play as them ?
