uhh, Don...if you hit /peace before you go to heal it will cancel out the speed mod and you'll heal much quicker. just thought you should know. it's pretty silly to use a lower speed wep just for that.

I used to like using my cleaver when I was master swordsman. 3.3 spd and 140-300 damage (without powerups) wasn't anything to scoff at. Only thing was that my 2 handed curved sword was still better at 2.3, 83-320. I guess if I was speed capped the cleaver would have been better but oh well.
I wonder what I did with those swords now...

I became a swordsman to use the Cleaver. I have never used a different weapon besides the only axe you can use at the beginning. I don't use hammers or axes other than that one. A swordsman using a (power)hammer is almost as disgraceful as a a commando using real toilet paper. **edit** that.

yeah but your best weapon there is two hand curved sword...where its weaker its quicker

Hmm, I need to get back to my house on Talus and take a closer look at that curved sword hanging on my wall. It became decoration as soon as I got my hammers, but if mine is that fast, it would be handy to have as an option. I'm also a novice doc, so having a quick attack allows me to heal self and group members quicker as well, so it's not always about how much damage I can dish out, though that is the main point of sword it would seem.

my cleaver---2.1 speed 143-254dmgdont know the rest off the top of my head
my hammer----5.3 176-603dmg dont know the rest off the top of my head
the hammer just doesnt fit into the swordsman profession to me though

My self heal macro clears the combat cue before applying the heal but I don't want to clear my cue to heal others unless it's an emergency. Having said that, I realized that the hammer just flat out does more damage in a given time period than my current cleaver.
However, checked out my curved sword, it does the same damage on average as my cleaver, but I went and got it sliced down to 1.9 attack speed! I did the math and again, assuming equal resistance to kinetic and blast and equal accuracy, the sliced curved sword easily does more damage per minute than the hammer! Plus the curved sword is much better on those range modifier stats than the hammer.
So for me, it's this curved sword as default unless the target has a higher resistance to kinetic than blast.

Cleaver is good for use with a High wound Rancor teeth, you can get cleavers in the 70%+ Wound range

Never bothered with buying a Cleaver.
I had a "Lucky Slice" on my Curved Sword, it is 62-250 damage at 1.8 speed now.
So my Curved is a lot better than a Cleaver could ever get.
Even VERY rarely use my PH, except on enemies with high Kinetic resistance.

I bought my curved sword already sliced. It's 68-247 dam and 1.7 speed. Kills bugs dead.

Ok....but my point was that I use them all at some point and time....I'm not one of those people that only use their best weapon for everything or skip weapons just because the forums say something sucks......I like to try things myself, experiment a lot and sometimes just screw around. Like sometimes I'll go fight a nightsister elder withmy 98 max damage axe (forgot the speed)......or see how many times it takes before KD actually sticks on her by using only TKM (even though she's 100% resistant to kinetic). So yes, I'll use a weaker or slower weapon sometimes......maybe even grind a whole profession with a weak weapon too like I did with pistoleer......It all depends on my mood, but when I'm about business, I whip out my PH or scythe and open up a can of whoop azz! 
basically though, I like to use every weapon a profession has to offer...you never know what you might learn form the experience.

I did almost all my grinding through Swordsman with a speed sliced cleaver. It had a quite low mind cost too, and with a delay of 2, it was perfect for spamming spin attack2.

Cleaver is pretty nice... but it's hard to find a WS who actually takes the time to make really uber ones, unless you happen to have one in your guild with +30 Exp.
