Thread: ATTENTION FLURRY SWORDSMEN!
I am a bit perplexed by your responses to Ivy.... If she is an overt rebel.. why should she waste someones time in coming out to her for training... If they know beforehand that she is overt, it could be a trap for her.. She tries to do the nice thing by helping people out... And you basically insult her for it...
Instead of insulting her offer, you should have been more specific and stated that you wanted only neutrals to respond... And she never once made a statement that she was in this for personal gain... she posted offering her training skills for any less experienced swordsmen to contact her... her only statement was I cant help imperials... Why dont you just put a * next to the peoples names when you create your list to declare them as faction oriented.. or * for imp, # for rebel.. surely thats not very hard to do.....
And another thing, you say you dont want this to be a time intensive task for yourself, yet you want people to respond with what skills they have if not a master... wow.. thats gonna be time-consuming... Ivy= 4-0-4-12H, JohnDoe = 4-3-2-1 TK.... do they need to send you emails everytime they get a skill up... thats gonna overload you.. heheeh
Side Note:As buggy as SWG is.. Who is to say that training a person doesnt invoke the TEF and all of a sudden a covert becomes an overt.. wouldnt that be a surprise.. "Umm Hello... lets back away peacefully!! No one needs to get hurt!"
I think what you are doing is nice, and I would offer my help as a TK. I am not master yet, just a simple 0-3-3-2..... but I am like Ivy, a rebel.....
:: Instead of insulting her offer, you should have been more specific and stated that you wanted only neutrals to respond::
You know... I never once said I wanted only neutrals to respond. Never. Iinvite MELEE to respond. Period.
:: yet you want people to respond with what skills they have if not a master... wow.. thats gonna be time-consuming... Ivy= 4-0-4-12H, JohnDoe = 4-3-2-1 TK.... do they need to send you emails everytime they get a skill up... ::
Um.. you know, I have this thread posted in the Fencer's, Pikeman's, and Flurry forums with excellent response. Not once did anyone complain about listing their levels. And no, I don't plan on keeping an updated list, but knowing a person's minimumlevels at this time, will prevent me from referring a person looking for a skill higher than theirs. (Assuming they don't drop any skill levels)
::.... If she is an overt rebel.. why should she waste someones time in coming out to her for training... If they know beforehand that she is overt, it could be a trap for her..::
Setting traps????? Um... ok......but this is not my concern. And, once again, I have posted this thread in several forums, not ONCE has anyone brought up this issue. I have coverts, overts andneutrals training each other, without problem. If you are so worried about the integrity of others, then I question *yours*.
Finally I will say this once again, because apparently neither you NOR ivy are reading very carefully- *I* am a Rebel also.

:: If my status as a Rebel would make me an unproductive member of your network, don't add me, it's cool, but please don't imply that I'm immature or unwilling to help. ::
No, your status as a non-partisan person in the context of helping another melee, makes you unproductive.
I have not yet had anyone tell me they weren't able to train persons of another faction. And I've made close to 40 referrals. If this is true, perhaps, if you'd stated this in your original response, as opposed to just posting that you would deny Imperials training, this thread would not be going in the direction it is. You initially mentioned integrity as the reason you don't want to train Imps- not that you were prevented from doing so by the mechanics of the game. And being 'unwilling' (which is what you originally stated) is completely different from being 'unable' (which you are stating now).
Thank-you anyway for your offer. I certainly did not mean for this to turn into anegative discussion.

You know, this is a game.. and as such some people try to RolePlay said game... so because Ivy ROLEPLAYS the game, but wants to help people, you find her immature and insult her offers to help...
Lets roleplay this for a second shall we?
Sooo, you are a rebel huh? but you are going to train imperials? Whats wrong with you man... Dont you know they are baby killers.... Havent you heard, they destroyed a WHOLE PLANET!!!!! Oh but by all means lets train them so they can be better killers!!! Oh wait, I bet you think if you train 100 of them, you might get 1 or 2 to turn to the rebel side.. Oh yeah.. thats a good idea... so we have 98 better trained killers out after us thanks to you and your ideals, but I bet those 2 will save the day!!! Weeeeee
Lets OOC it...
You ever heard of griefers? They are the people who take great pride in griefing people over and over and over.. they corpse camp(which isnt in yet), they setup traps to kill people when they are defenseless, etc... But as you stated "Setting traps????? Um... ok......but this is not my concern".. so you really dont care that the people you are recruiting could be griefed for wanting to help in some cases... Lets see, you would prolly be considered a goody goody for helping, and most griefers love that type of person, because they are the easiest prey....
Lets talk about mechanics...
Itis my understanding that a rebel can not group with an imperial... so are you saying if two people are conversing and the thought never enters their head that they are on different factions, until they spend thousands of credits to get to a planet to meet one another its not your problem? Wasnt your initial intention with this reference list to save people money? Y'know as I think about it... I dont think a neutral can help an overt..... I seem to remember neutral medics complaining about they couldnt heal overts..... But I might be wrong about that...
As for why Ivy posted a second comment about not being able to help imperials...
Ummm you do realize that you can not edit posts on these forums correct? She must have realized that she can not group with and or help imperials, so she added a second post..... NEVER did I see her say she didnt want to help imperials in those first couple of posts. It wasnt until AFTER you refused her offer that she stated she had integrity with the GCW(e.g.-rebels dont help imperials).... Then you decided she deserved your wrath and told her she was immature for trying to roleplay...
and finally lets talk about you.....
Do you even read the replies she and I have been writing to this thread? I mean really honestly read and try to comprehend where she and I are coming from.... I understand you want to help, and I am all for that... but clearly game mechanics, and the GCW conspire against you in this endeavor.... Your idea is good, but the way you are going about it is clearly flawed(I point to the idea that people wanting to help could spend thousands of credits to meet each other, and then figure out they can not even group... or do you want the overt(s) to go change their faction to covert, wait an hour realtime, so they can train each other, and lets not get into the fact that some cities do not have both faction's recruiters)....
Lets see, 40 some odd people have already put their name on the list... maybe they offered up their assistance right off the bat(like Ivy did)... and later they came to realize they have a faction issue to deal with... Whether that time is while they are talking to the potential trainee or when they meet and realize the storm trooper standing in front of them in anchorhead(where there is no imperial recruiters), whojust waisted a ton of money to come meet them, can not be trained....
And if you are so into helping melees.. why isnt Teras Kasi on your list? I mean they are melee arent they? I have a hard time finding TK's to train me, and I spend thousands of credits to get training....
The definition of Integrity = Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code. So.. if you are sooo into helping everyone, no matter who they are.. Then why are you arebel? You should be a neutral.... I mean CLEARLY you arent even following your ownstrict moral and ethical code if you are a rebel.... besides, if you are just trying to help everyone why do you keep sinking to insulting people who just want to help? I would like to use your own line " I personally don't see this as an 'integrity' issue. I see it as a 'maturity' one." Hrmmm Pot, Kettle, BLACK!!!!
Get your story straight, first you say you want it to be "a non-partisan group. We are melees first and foremost. If you are unwilling to help members of the opposite faction, then you wouldn't be a productive member." then you come back later to tell me... "You know... I never once said I wanted only neutrals to respond. Never. Iinvite MELEE to respond. Period." What do you really want here? Game mechanics are not on your side... You need to clarify this so people are aware there could be faction issues... oh but wait, a trainer or trainee getting killed because of said faction issue.... thats not your problem now is it... Personally, I think It will become your issuewhen you are facing someone who is duel skilling in melee/ranged... and they beat the snot out of you with ranged abilities.... oh but that would never happen in your world now would it.. cmon man, be real..... Even if they arent a griefer, thats gonna be a strange meeting.....
Your idea is good, but your rational is flawed... but you will just skim my message, never try to comprehend my thoughts, and blather incessantly about what your grandpa told you, but you clearly dont seem to comprehend... oh but wait, I am immature for countering insults you so regularly throw out at people who are just trying to have a debate with you about your flawed logic...
I would still like to help people, but A) I am a Teras Kasi, and B) I am a rebel and can not and would not train an imperial, who would be trying to kill me and my friends and family at a later date.... Because I have these two flaws, you wont include me on your little list.... Good Luck with that.. All nastiness aside, I seriously mean it....
YAAAAAAAAAWN. I do so love it when people spend oooodles of time writing something that I'll never read.
Whatever you said 'grouchie' I'm sure it was very self aggrandizing.
You take care.

thanks AGAIN for showing your immaturity.... nice to know we have dolts like you running around....
I dont think Laziness is a virtue... but obviously it works for you, currently....
You know, I find it funny how if you do a search of your posts, most are rated as a SINGLE STAR.... and if you open many others you constantly are berating people... Get some people skills buddy, you clearly dont have any...
I'll end this post with a simple note...
You are a TROLL... good luck with that.... I hope this little list of yours gets you the attention you so desperately crave... too bad your "grandpa" didnt give you enough attention to curb this habit! And its too bad its destined to fail.. cause you obviously dont intend to keep the list up to date and or care if its bad information you are handing out....
Blah, I saw this thread and it seemed like a great idea, because, including Ivy now I've only ever heard of 2 master swordsmen on Flurry other than myself (I'm sure more exist, but I've yet to see them). I know it can be a nightmare getting training and advice (must be REALLY bad with Fencer/Pikeman, I've never seen a master fencer or pikeman
).
Unfortunately, it seems to have degraded somewhat, but if anyone needs help on Flurry with swordsman skills/advice, give me a tell. We're so rare that we need to stick together
.
Nerbit - Master Heavy Swordsman - Flurry
Zurp - Master Doctor - Flurry
I've added youto the list Zurg, and appreciate your gracious offer. Again, please let me know of any weaponsmiths you've worked with that are melee friendly- I've been compiling a list of them as well.
