i dont intend this to be a flame or anything of the sort.....but what kind of tkm's are you fighting? i have atkm AND a swordsman, i have used both, i have killed EVERY melee i have dueled or PvPed against, i dont need kd/dizzy, all i have to do is use specials, i have somewhere around 5k health and action and 2900 mind, its not hard to take some hit while dishing out mass dmg back...

The strategy is all fine and dandy but it is not relevant to the balance between swordsmens and TKA's.

A swordsman with master brawler and all of the defensive goodies in the fencer of TKA trees will sure overwhelm a "basic" TKA (without master brawler, and without additional defensive skills). It's comparing apples and oranges.

As for the Dark Troopers ? Buffs are overpowered, period. Many master professions can do similarPVEfeats (including fencers, TKAs, BH, commandos ...) with doc buffs and spices.

Your advices are very good and your tactics sound, but unfortunatley, a typical master swordsman will not be able to pull them off :/

I didnt say a 'Typical' Master Swordsman now did I?...I said a master swordsman with a template like that is Impossible to Knockdown, that was the Main point of the post....And how many Master TKA's do you know that also have picked up Master Brawler?..Im sure some have but 90% dont.

The fact is you dont know what your opponent has when you duel or PVP...but what i can say is that EVERY TKA I've fought and I've fought plenty, tries the Standard Dizzy + KD. By being so predictable you can take advantage of that by making your template right(with plenty of vrs KD).

How many TKA's do you know that specficaly build their character to combat Swordsman techniques?...probably none. And yes I know my techniques are sound its worked countless times. Point is with this build you can take out 90% of all meelePC in game(of couse any TKA could read this and load up on vrs KD, Dodge, Block ect from other profs but the fact is most dont because they dont plan on loosing to another meele, that is until a meele that has predicted what they will do comes along and all of a sudden they find themselve back at the clone center with 7 or 8 failed KD's in their combat spam).

Yes Im comparing Apples to Oranges because what Im talking about is actual in game play, where apples are never compared to apples because you dont know what he has and visa versa and you can prepare all you want beforehand. Personaly I think its irrevelent to compare a straight swordsman to a straight TKA...why becuase NONE of my fights have been straight Swordsman vrs straight TKA, so why not let people know how to be successful in game because thats what really matters.

Im sorry but why do some Heavy swordsmen get up in the morning with the sole purpose to post on these forums how to beat a tka in a duel??? Are they brain washed to do this? Everyone knows w/o kd2 TKM's are close to nothing.

Yes I killed more TKAs then I can count..they are VERY easy to kill with a template like this. If they are healing themselves focus on the mind and let the Bleeds works..a nice long fight is good..so keep your specials to a minimum and just use Beserk or Mind hit if your health is looking good.

Every single place I've ever been and witnessed PvP action, there is a group of 8-10 imperials or 8-10 rebels, with anywhere from 4-8 creatures tagging along... as soon as someone makes one move against them, they are hit by spammed specials from all 8-10 people, and have 4 pets on them minimum in 10 seconds. I've never seen anyone live longer than oh, 10 seconds in a PvP scenario...

...So how often is there a situation where you get to fight a nice long fight as described? Or, even better- how often do people actually get to fight in a brawling situation, one on one, without dueling someone, without having their 6-10 friends hitting you with eyeshot?

PvP is poorly designed in here, based on my experience in software development for the past 14+ years, and witnessing it in game...I don't see what the appeal is to people. It's not skill based (compared to something like an FPS where aiming and movement matter) so "winning" means very little- you just were lucky enough in 9 out of 10 times to be the first to perform the mathematically winning move first (i.e. you got Eye Shot in first, so you win, or you got a knock down first, so you win)... There's also little if no dynamics to fighting... I've never seenone of the few hundred PvP fights I've witnessed where the person who was put in a bad state first won or lived... for that aspect of the game to flow it should be like a basketball game- you sometimes don't know who's going to win until the final shot.

This is, of course, just my opinion and observations in game, and based on my professional experience outside of the game... I could be wrong... one of these days I'm sure I will be, but it's yet to happen.

So we just need to be Master Brawler and Master Swordsman and need novice fencer and pikemen so we can beat a TKA ? sounds fair

No you don't. I am now Master HS/ novice CM/ brawler 4-3-4-2 and I can still win. Most do not debuff but rely on kd dizzy, which is a plus. So, do something to remove ham costs on yourself, I use sunburn and muon. Do a COB macro, or you can just press it on your own, and go to it. Cob at master level allows you to stand on under 5 tries, usually at 2 or 3. Then he can't kd you again for 30 sec. He can posture change you, but alot of folks don't think of that. Even if they do, you still get up. You can also dizzy and posture change them... They like that...Then work your moves, best man wins. I use warcry in duels when it is used on me first. Though not like it matters... 10 sec instead of 20 sec takes some getting used to.... /cry...

TKA's are supposed to be powerfull. In thestar warsuniverse TKA's use their version of the Force. In SWG that is equal to meditate. Since this game is based on Star Wars it only makes sence that Teras Kasi's can takeon swordsmen/fencer. Ask a teras kasi to duel no kd's and see what happens.

"In the star wars universe TKA's use their version of the Force."

Argh! This has got to be the most absurd response to why TKA's are overpowered compared to the rest of melee classes. TKA originated from a bad video game for the Playstation. That's it - no where in any of the novels are there any mention of TKA. The combat artists were the Noghri or the Minstrils (s/p).

Also, there is no "version of the force." There is one all encompassing Force. TKA's do not have an ability to get in touch with it. They meditate through their self discipline. Self discipline is also taught through other melee professions.

From a game mechanics standpoint, there is absolutely no justification what-so-ever for any one melee profession to totally dominate another. Each melee prof cost the same amount of skill points and experience, yet TKA is much more powerful than the others.

Because of the over-abuse of the TK dizzy/knockdown and how much defensive abilities they have, many ranged profs have dabled in TKA.

Unfortunately because of the stubborness of it's community to find an equitable solution, I expect the TKA profession to be next in line for the nerf bat after CH's. I would suggest to the TKA community to get their collective butts out and help promote the cause for Fencer and Pikeman, and place an emphasis on how they are underpowered in general, but no in comparison to TKA. Because, with the exception of dizzy/KD, TKA's are not overpowered in my opinion, it's just that other melee profs are so neutered that they seem like melee gods.

OK OK, everyone lay off Hobbes for a sec. Teras Kasi's did not originate on the Ps as much as u guys might hope. If u really read into star wars, which I do (I practicly have a library) U will find that, Thousands of years prior to the sith war, while the primamry hyperspace lines were still being maped out, There was a line of Individuals who were known as the Teras Kasi. These individuals could harness an energy field, and use it to minipulate the world around them. The Teras Kasi were warrior people and had no technonology. When their planet was discoverd by the hyperspace mappers several of the kasi favored the idea of technology and several more did not. A war broke out and the non-tech kasi were losing badly. As a result they turned away from blasters and their hands and developed a new weapon... lightsabers... Make a long story short the lightsaber proved to be an effective equalizer and the original Teras kasi were nearly extincted. ONE of the survivors, who lost her arm to a saber was Ardyn Lyn. She went into a meditation that perserved her for several thousand years. She was discoverd by Palpatine well after the clone wars and awaken. she didnt like him but they had a common enemy in the jedi. She became one of his agents and was fit with a robot arm. She betrayed him and tried to kidnap him but he overpowerd her and she fled and now her wareabout are unknown. Some developer thought she was a cool charcter and made her the base for some crapy PS game. So there u have it... the TKA do exist in the force, they did fight the jedi and nearly win, from the TKA the Jedi, and Jenasarrie formed. So yes TKA's do have alot of power in this game, and to be honest I dont think they have enough. Im not a TKA and i dont plan on being one, but they should be a nearly equal match for ajedi.
