First of all i like to also give support to say i would not want to loose our big damage out put. Now on the issue support others opinion here is that i have always been baffled to why is it we have 3 lower posture moves. We basicly have zero tactics values. Knockdown move is nice additions since we have a "sweep" move, our counter part pikeman has a "sweep" move also that actualy knockdown the target. Again another issue with moves is that we have too many area affect moves. I dont even use the spin attack, why should i? i have area attackk3 that also dizzy target. The move is wasted sadly.
HAM cost is very high we all agree on that one but with the high HAM cost also comes massive inaacuratcy. I am master swordman and i can miss 6 specials in a row against silly things like savage humbabas. We all know how much health it cost for power hammer so 6 missing i would damage myself for more than it could have done to me if i just didnt use specails. i dont think it would be as bad as it is if we didnt miss half as much
Weapons: Melee fighters in general have choice of Kinetic or Blast. It make it hard when something is 60%+ defense against both Blast and Kinetic. That is what i like to see change the most a varied in type of damage with our weapons. Also make our weapons to be crafted with better accuractcy mods. yes more Swords for Swordman is a good thing (but not important). Lastly i need to ask, what is the point of Rancor tooth? please dont anwser with to make melee weapons with because an Advance power core is better than Rancor tooth power core. I know this isnt issue just for swordman but it is important to us too.
PvP: It has been said already dizzy and knockdown decides the fight and i agree. the problem is not just our comrade brawler TKA but this combonation can also be used by a range fighters. I have come completly owned before i even in fighting range. All over so fast i didnt even see the other guy's profession. Come to the real PvP a master swordman can still be had by the any non master that has that two combination. Since the new migration damage it's actualy harder for a swordman to win in a fight. before that if i am lucky i could do 1500 mind damage now i am lucky to hit 500, the new patch has actualy worked against us in PvP
I have to say i think we have enough Toughness mods, however we dont have other defenses like TKA infact no other brawler proffessions do. This needs a serious rebalancing. I would agree with the statment that our big offense is our defense. To finish a fight before it damage us is the Key of swordman and i think it makes a very unqiue characteristic of swordmans. I like to see more skills mods in our blocks that seems so empty. Most proffession (not including fencers and pikeman) do not have so many blocks empty of skills mods.
Urm i think that is all, anyways great work Gorecki. Let us know what the devs are doing with our profession
My only question (applies to Pikeman too) is why do the defensive lines stink compared to some shooters?
Example, Pistoleer has more melee defense mods than sword or pike in their branches? WHy is that? I can understand them being close and used to seeing metal flashed before thier faces, but so would a Swordsmand and Pikeman. In fact, they would see it even more. So, just wondering why that is and if that was ever an issue. It would be sad to see a pistoleer literally "beat" (pistol whip) a swordman into the ground cause he has better melee def mods.
I havent even looked at the accuracy mods, so that might be another can of worms for either side.
i have seen a master pistoleer take down a teras kasi master, with pistol whip, and somespecials. and the question, how the heck could a person with a gun manage to beat a master melee in melee combat range? especially the one that has the most ranged and melee defenses out of all melee?
this was a month or so ago, but also the pistoleer was doing over 600 damage a shot to the knocked down tka, the match lasted all of five seconds. heck that out damages a master swordsman/master brawler against the same tka in a duel. i was incaped when i dueled the tka, when in all thoughts why couldnt i hit their mind for any more than 200 to 450? using a 5.4 speed 608 max damage powerhammer. but that was long before the patch with mitigation...

Why?
Well, I already find my novice heavyswordsman to be quite strong. I almost managed to take down a TK Expert using centered being, warcry and some stance changing moves. Okok, there were two others as well, a swordsman (one handed), and a guardsman, but they went down like a snowball in hell and didn't do much. (no offence to them). I also noticed a funny thing, don't know if it will be like that always, but when confronted with the feared knock down, I got up on my feet after a second.. Was really surprised by getting up that fast.
But the HAM is too weird.. My health bare almost never ever reaches zero, but my mind and action gown down from special moves. Therefore I use a good armor to salvage whats left of action and mind. and it works rather well.
Whats a power hammer? never seen one.
To adress the pvp issue, my view on it is that we are battlefield/monster fighters and not pvp fighters, i kinda like it that way... When on a battle field buddy up with 2-3 other swordsmen and go after any TKA u see, my bet is he will be down before he even hits his KD or dizzi action button..... as to monsters this is what realy made me go for master swordsman, ive only been playing for 3 weeks and im master brawler - 3-3-3-3 swordsman and already i think im doing pretty well in soloing....
To sum this up i like the swordsman as it is (with a few exeptions eg, HAM cost for specials) you just have to use your adv's and i think we have some great once!!!
