Thread: Problems with NPC AE's?

I don't see how this is supposed to be the way it works. I understand that SOE wants us to group to fight high end stuff, and I have no problem with that. If they are reaslly doing 6k damage AE attacks, grouping doesn't help. It makes no sense to have an enemy do so much damage that your group instantly dies. This means that having docs/cm with you doesn't even help. No enemy should be killing you in one swing, it just doesn't make any sense. I can understand them doing more damage then one player can heal themselves, that way they need a medic to help them out.

Yeah, I've seen this. Last night while the group I was in was fighting an elder, the guy tanking it had his mind (dancer buffed and full comp) taken out in one hit, and dbed immediately. He looked back in the combat window and said it hit him for 4k damage straight to the mind, and all she had was a Ryyk blade.

Ok let me understand this? Elders are causing 3-6k damage using cascade of hatered a lightsaber special which apparently does 17.5x dam, using a stun batton. I would have to presume that because it was using a stun batton it would be using stun damage type and not LS because of the type of attack.. ?

So lets do some simple math. The stun batton that these elders are using must be well over 200 damage with atleast light armour piercing? Where are they getting them from ??cause I want one!!

As far as I'm aware don't npc use the average weapon?

it seems to me that they are only using LS specials, i didn't once notice a special used on me that wasn't a lightsaber special. and no, they aren't bypassing armor... they are just hitting very hard.

I remember back in the old days you could occationally /open a nightsister or two. I once /open on a nightsister using a scythe it was somethinglike 1856-2014 or something rediculous, very very tight damage range and WAY outside of an average weapons usual damage. There were a few pics, might still be on image dump, where people tried to pretend they owned the weapon.

I fought some last night. Stayed away from elders but would play with anything else.

Got cloned at one point. A protector and 2 spell-weavers. Had CoB going, and 70ish% kinetic comp. Had 2 force power used on me that went right through the armor. NP, expected that. But, after looking at my combat log, 11 out of the 13 hits that landed went right through the armor also. And they were using pikes, so it should've been either kinetic, energy, or elec damage. Which my comp was good against all. And these 13 attacks were of the "axxxxxxxxx swings at you and hits for xxxx damage." And there were only 2,"Your xxxxxx prevented xxxx points of damage." So not force specials at all.

Uh try a Stun Baton that does around 3000 damage and that seems about right. Ever try /opening a mob before? It would deffinitely have to be WAY over 200 damage because on the Stormies I used to open their guns did like 200-250.

I wish if they do actually do lightsaber damage it'd actually display a lightsaber. Atleast then we could enjoy the show as we die..

Do you really think that is by game design, or an oversight?

i thought i messed up my stats during migration, but man i couldn't even handle a fraction of the nightsisters i could. I could easily solo 2 elders with other rnadom ns spawing ever 3 mins or so and i couldn't even handle2 elders by themselves. I lucikly escaped with 25 health points left lol, i thought i would have gotton incapped while i rode away on my bike, guess i got lucky

I woldn't mind if they were this hard to kill if they gave awesome loot, but its still onld loot rates but hard @$$ things to kill.

For those that know StarWars, know Nightsisters are not to be messed with. For those of you that don't, get the books and read them.

The Empire has ships orbiting the planet to keep people from landing there and from leaving because of the power of the Nightsisters. According to the books, all ships leaving the planet are to be shot down on site to keep the Nightsisters on Dathomir.

Makes perfect sense to me for them to be tough. Also gives people more reason to group in LARGE groups of more than just melee to take them out. Sounds like a lot of fun to me.

My 2 cents.

I don't play SWG because it is a game. I play it because it is Star Wars.
