Thread: To all swordsmen playing on TC...
Hiya
I'm on test center now, and although I'm not a swordman on live nor in TC, I thought I'd share what I know about CoB.
I'm currently unarmed 2 on test. When I use CoB, I look at my combat screen. I see nothing change. Damage given to me and the attack speed of the creature stays consistant, and damage is not reduced. I don't receive a msg saying "CoB worked" or "Your focus has enabled you to evade the hit!" At my current level, my observations is that CoB does nothing (this might be what is intended for the lower levels)
I feel an explaination on what exactly this skill is supposed to do from the combat dev would be beneficial. I think it would explain why TK received acuity though, if that is what CoB increases.
Wish I had my master pikeman on test to see how it works at the higher levels ![]()
Goreki your going to LOVE THIS!!!
I decided to do a little testing after goreki's post on the out of range issue and have come to find out THEY EXTENDED OUR RANGE!! by ALOT!!!
ok I got you going now and your wanting to know how much did they extend us!? hehe while using head hit 1 i could attack a lair or creature 12 METERS AWAY!! with a 2hand curved sword whcih means i have 12m gap between me and my prey!! which means you havea better chance if your 6m behind them that you are close enough to hit them while they are running!!!
however if your not using a special the range seems normal.... only when using the special attacks could i attack from that distance... glitch ? maybe or meant to be that way.
another good note is they fixed the line of sight issue!! so now no ranged person can hit you from the other side of the **edit** mountain!!! you can now use you terrain CORRECTLY in your benefit!!!
I've also just hit 2hand 4 and offically 13 seconds of Center of balance and my effecency pretty good!! i can do roughly 3-6 hits before it runs out!!
ok well i hardly ever got the out of range thing on live... cept when really chasing a creature... but from what i can see it seems a LITTLE more extended range but i'll do more testing on that soon ![]()
Actually there are something like 6 or so active master weaponsmiths on TC. =)
Contract Flynn or Gaffyn and I'll send you a wp to my shop. I specialize in melee weapons and have some nice 2h axes and 2h curved for sale.
I'm not sure that CoB "feels" right to me. The main thing I do not like is that it affects evasive maneuvers. I would have preferred that at least a component of it be an increased damage resistance. The problem is that it still doesn't really help me that much against high-end content. I will still get one-shotted by a lot of high-end things. And that's where I want to be viable instead of just trying to keep up with pets. If I don't, it will be more due to intimidate/stun/warcry than anything else. CoB as implemented has high variance, and simply isn't what I would have hoped for. Expert level abilities, in my opinion, should reduce variance. When you get better at throwing a baseball you are able to throw it to a very small target consistently. When you get better at melee defense you should consistently do a good job of avoiding damage. Damage resistance instead of improved evasive maneuvers would do a better job of this.
Not strictly related: the other night I got to try out tanking against some krayts. It actually wasn't so bad. If I landed intimidate and stun I could keep up for a while (with healers at my back). Master brawler seems to be very good at filling some of the gaps in our ability to tank. In theory a group full of master brawlers spamming out warcry2 should be able to take down a krayt without getting touched. =P

Or if we do let us turn it off its an eye sore to see
What is center of being?
I'm a novice swordsman on Ahazi (I like hitting for 2k dmg with ONLY the novice swordsman skill, I got a really nice power hammer).
Thanks for the help, if anyone wants to hunt (and your on Ahazi) my character name is Skaarj.
Hey Goreki
To answer your question above, I'm currently at 0,2,0,1 in the swordsman tree and 3,3,4,3 in brawler. Still not sure if I'm gonna press for master brawler... To answer the question right above - Center of Being (COB) is a new tanking ability given to novice brawlers that increases with duration and success rate as you go up melee trees. You can use specials while it is in effect, but the duration is usually very short when you are working up the brawler tree.
I've gota newbie question--first time on the forum!
When will these "Test Center" changes go into effect?
Thanks!
