yeha we have the tka KD but remember fencer as get adv lunge, ITS OUR FRICKEN CLASS SKILL, and it is very useless. Every melee class got hit hard with this but fencer just got an entire elite special nerfed into oblivion. Considing Adv Lungejust gaveus a better chance at kd
dang i was wondering why it doenst kd anymore? dont swordsmen get a kd?

When I try to imagine the lunge-move I always see my toon in a lowered position hitting the legs of her opponent = KD
(btw: Leghit? No snare? No KD? but well, thats leghit not lunge...)
Lunge really needs KD back. Brawler and Marksman have KD-Recover... Dizzy "only" lowers defense... where is the problem?

SOE said the game would be more "Star Warsy". Well, this could include more ranged... But on the other hand: There was melee (besides Jedi) in Star Wars. Not in the movies so. I always liked how Lando walked around in Tantel with a VL (it was in RotJ IIRC).
But dont give up: Melee is still pretty strong. I can still solo PvE. And PvP, well, u always needed a group, u always needed a tactic. Now the group-member have to fit in (Tank, Crowd-Control, Nuke) and the tactics need to be changed. We will get used to it.
If we (melee leets) lose our range knockdown (10 meter range), then all ranged professions (including BH and Smugglers)shouldn't have KD abilities at 35 meters.
Lunge 1 always was to force kneel
lunge 2 alway was to KD.
I guess they just wanted KD as range control and just make specal attacks do an effect.
eg... pike and TKs control mobs and there positions in their tank roll. Swords just kill the mobs without hindering the mobs ability to kill the swordsman. KD is a tank thing ( you stopped the mob from attacking you or doing lots of damage) note the tank do little damage ( TK very little and Pike more of a middle low) while They wanted the swords to be pure power killing machine and no defence ( like KD eather ).
I am guessing also , they are making lunge just a reach out and touch someone attack, not the FLY OUT and touch someone. It was maked to LUNGE and hit someone to far for a normal attack. I think they just said , " It should have one special and not 2. " So they must have chosen to balance it that way. I am guessing they figured if someone wanted the KD they will have to take a special elite profession for that , not a basic profession. I am guessing marksman does not have a KD shot ( where is pistol wip? I have not been range prof in over a year).
Just a thought. KD is nothing like is use to be. The mobs get up within 1 or 2 sec. you get only 1 or 2 hits if you are fast and I have yet to see any flopping around even with dizzy or stun on the mob. I do miss my adv lunge which as 15 m. now lunge just does 10 m touch.
If they fix root and snare so they release after the first hit , then that will be fair and we should be ok.
Armor break rocks. it is the new KD. Just the mob gets to hit back. but it lasts longer then KD and almost always sticks if not the first time the the subsquet time. It seems not be be on a failure timer. I have missed my stick and tried again next attack and had it stick.
Just some Ideals on why the devs would mess with such cool dudes like the melee types.

no we were supposed to be able to hit hard and tank slightly... reason for sword furry which suks...
we were not supposed to be crowd control... which we are not.

while you're at it, get us a snare too... /halo
seems that this is a nerf and not a bug. hopefully we can get something done by pub20. cause having no KD is no good.
