Thread: I hate to say the 2h curved sword needs nerfing, but this just doesn't feel right.

Later on you'll be able to swing a slicedpower hammer less than every 2 seconds. And it will out damage the 2H curved due to the 1 second speed cap.

well one your relying on the stupid broken con system which btw DOESN'T WORK RIGHT!!

i've had rancor con yellow to me so don't ever go by that con thing.

those monkey things you fight con red to me also and i'm a novice swordsman with 3 teirs, defense, finesse and techniques!! yet i can still kill them in a few hits with a HEAVY AXE!!

btw if you don't already know 2handed axes are ALSO medium ap rating... which is why they are better than heavy axes

if your not even in swordsman yet DON'T CRY NERF!! what your tackling is EASY creatures compared to what is out there and here you are being idiotic cause your not even in a elite class yet and think your doing high damage trust me YOU AREN'T!!

i normally do around 2000-2800 with my 2hcs and by the time i hit master swordsman i'll be doing over 6k. now you say that's alot of damage but trust me it's not not when your face to face getting mauled by what your hitting.

there are several times i'll equip a cdef carbine WITHOUT ANY SKILLS and most things that con red to me with sword now con blue...

when i equip my sword it cons red.... now tell me the con system isn't screwed up

don't even try to base the con system as a real way to prove a creature is easy. only way to prove it is to battle it!! if you can kill it without much damage then it's easy for you if you can't then honestly it's hard

Sigh... I was hoping for some legitimate discussion on this, however it appears to be turning into a flame war.

Just forget I said anything.

well, he is right ... on most of his points.

Curved Sword requirements are too low, master two-hand was a good place for this nice peace of steel.
And you all cant deny the truth, curved swords are top of the dps-chain. There is no comparable weapon.
I guess medium piercing was not intendet, none or AP1 would fit better.

Still, i would really like to see a sword as out best weapon. If they change it to be weaker, should add another sword comparable to powerhammer which requiers novice heavy swordsman or higher profession.

Would also like to see different kinds of swords which requiers different master tree´s.

Maybe sometjing like:

Cleaver (offense) -> Doublebladed Axe
Battlemaster (techniques) -> Flamberg
Warrior (finesse) -> Dai-Katana
expert swordsman -> another Hammer?

I'll agree with the fact that the cert is to easy to get right now for the best weapon we swordsman can weild. However CHANGING or NERFING the sword isn't what is needed!! we just need the cert moved to either master 2hand or novice swordsman.

personally i'd like to see the ph moved to ap 3 and moved up the chain a bit more than novice and replace it's spot with the 2handed curved sword cert. This would remove the normal brawler ppl from using a high end sword.

one thing to note is since the 2handed axes is also ap2 it's not that bad of a weapon for what a normal master 2hand person should be using.

i think soe needs to take a look at their weapons, in which order do they get created from weaponsmith, and by which are the most powerfull and rethink the locations of all the certs!!

btw sorry If I seemed i was flaming as i wasn't meaning too. it's just when you have 50 little kids jumping on the forum screaming nerf it tend to make you mad when you see someone jump on swordsman when obvisously we don't need to be nerfed we need MORE power to be correct. For the things we do in combat it's harder on us than it is anyone else.

That's your opinion. I feel that there's plenty of room for technique and finesse in a two-handed sword.

Buff up the power hammer so it does equal dps to the curved sword. Harder hits but slower. Then we can all choose the type of swordsmen we enjoy being.

In short, please don't force your vision of the profession on me.

Nice of you to visist the Swordsman Board, Caelrie. But I thought you were a Pistoleer/Combat Medic of uber goodness that wasn't overpowered but still kills 5 Bounty Hunters soloand thinkBounty Hunters are still viable and aren't weak?

I don't see how having the same DPS and swinging slower really makes any changes to the profession. Kinda like saying my job nows pays better since I get paid twice as much every 2 weeks vs the other guy who gets paid half as muchas meevery week. Anyways, the cleaver and powerhammer should have a greater DPS or a significant bonus vs using a weapon of a lower certification. And thus far it seems that Swordsman are lacking any significant tricks compared to the other melee professions but we have the highest base damage melee weapon (the powerhammer but itslower DPS than a Vibro Long Axe oddly enough which is a lower Cert) and Mind as our profession's target damage stat (and all of our seemingly the same AE attacks!)

And while I would like tricks it seems that the Devs are pushing us in the direction of flat damage and I'd like to be noticably better than the other meleeprofessions in this catagory.

Please don't complain about my vision of MY profession. My vision is not becoming just like the other melee professions, even if it means being alittle blander.

Easy solution. Unequip your 2h curved sword, equip Heavy Axe. That was all I used till I got Novice Swordsman. You nerf my 2h curved sword, there will be hell to pay. Once you fight CL20 and higher mobs, you will see it is in no way "over powering".

Hmmm...seems like you guys discounted the fact that the original poster (like myself) is a Master Weaponsmith.

When you look at the change in the Two Handed Brawler skill line, and see the way the Certs switched around, you'll see that there's something intrinsically wrong with the damage output of the 2HCS.

2HCS is THE king of DPS...there is no weapon with higher DPS, and I've made them ALL. Not only is it #1 in raw DPS, it's also MEDIUM Armor Penetration. PLUS, it's at the ADVANCED Brawler level. You can make a Brawler, and be wielding a 2HCS in about 30 minutes.

When you look at the rest of the 2H Brawler tree, and look at the Vibro Axe and the Cleaver, those two weapons are COMPLETELY and UTTERLY pointless. The Cleaver's AP 2, but it doesn't have the DPS that the 2HCS does. The Vibro Axe looks pathetic in comparision to either weapon.

The Power Hammer doesn't even fit into the equation, because it's not to be considered the Swordsman's routine weapon...it is a specialty weapon to be used on Blast vulnerable mobs.

Considering the totally weird disparity on the Cleaver and the 2HCS, it's pretty safe to assume that SOMETHING is going to be done about it. The way I see it, the Vibro Axe should go to Advanced 2H skill, the Cleaver to Expert, and the 2HCS back to Master, with none of the weapons being touched. However, what I predict is that the 2HCS will just drop down to AP 0, or AP 1.

Something should be done about the Vibro Axe, though...it's a pathetic weapon and serves no purpose at all...the Cleaver and the 2HCS have both ALWAYS been better to use than the Vibro Axe, so it's never gotten any attention.

Of course, this is all moot, really, considering that new schematics for swords are probably already on the way anyway.

Wow... buddy, you can't post stuff like this when you're not even a novice. This thread is soooo clueless. Just wait a bit and see what you think. There's no point even arguing. You will definitely feel differently later on.

DTox, don't even bother. Since we're not swordsmen we're obviously not welcome here, even though we're the ones who make the swords they use.

It's one thing to come here and say, "I'd like to make different weapons once in a while, so maybe the other swordsman weapons could be buffed up a little to make them worth using?"

It's quite another to come here and say, "I'm sick of making 2hcs. Nerf the crap out of them so people are forced to buy my other stuff."

I can't believe you expected a different response than the one you got.

Yes, I actually read what you posted and every response in the thread. In summation you seem to be saying that the sword is too powerful an item for someone to obtain so young in their profession. Am I correct? I say bull ****. Scout blasters come to mind. How soon do pistoleers get them?

Leave it as it is. The only problem I see are newb swordsman getting the impression they are God while wielding them on the newbie durnies then getting their arse handed to them later in their career. Well, that is not a problem realy, just a reality check.
