Anything requiring a pet of any kind is out of the question. Not to say it doesn't work but I am 100% against the creature handler class, it goes against the continuity of Star Wars... who in Star Wars ran around with pet Rancors walking lovingly behind them? It's a joke and I will never support the CH type and make it a point not to associate myself with them very often. I can't blame people for using that skill tree, it's too good to pass up... but where's the diversity when everyone playing the game is a CH? Just look at the posts, the CH posts are 15x more numerous than swordsmen! They even outnumber Jedi Posts by tens of thousands... it's just not right... lol
Anyway, thanksfor the thought though...
P.S. I just got incapped by a male mamien after killing a couple of youths...

"It's what I do"
And other than a jedi did you see anyone weilding melee weapons? Hypocrite.
Well, actually, since you're gonna start calling me names... I'm going to defend myself on this one. Maybe you should think before typing, because the Emperor's Royal Guards (the ones with red regalia) have large pikes, "melee weapons" in case a simpleton like yourself does not know what a pike is. The Gungans also carry long "electropole" lances... seen in VERY LARGE quantities during the Naboo war in episode 1. Then of course the Gamorrean guards in Jabba's palace in Return of the Jedi (the hogmen) carry vibro-axes... a weapon actually used by the class for which we are posting now, surprise surprise surprise. Also the the long trident shocking thingies the Geonosians (bug creatures in episode 2) use to herd the beasts in the arena. Han Solo slicing open the Taun Taun with his dagger could also be considered a melee weapon for all intents and purposes. Ewoks also enjoyed carrying spears and the like for protection....
Really, the melee weapon is one that is shown in just about every Star Wars movie to date. However the only being that had a Rancor pet was Jabba's henchman and if you didn't notice it was caged and hardly knew how to do tricks... it would not obey commands, it would just eat whatever was thrown in it's cage. Which included a Gamorrean (much like the beast's master) that fell into the dungeon with Luke. So it was not a "tamed" Rancor by any stretch of the imagination... and to be calm and obedient in a cantina with 30 strangers is just beyond rediculous, aside from ever being let loose in a city... I can understand owning riding pets like Taun Tauns and Dewbacks and even dog-like pets are a great addition to the game but these giant spiders, and Grauls and Rancors and Tortons are just silly, unfair and not at all in line with the Star Wars world created by George Lucas.
So thanks for the flame, you really made yourself look like a moron... and it was fun being 100% right about this one.
For anyone else reading this post and has something to say to defend Creature Handlers, don't bother, I totally agree that it's part of the game... I'm not flaming Creature Handlers I'm simply stating my opinion that being one doesn't feel very 'Star Wars-ish'. I love the game and it's not something I would ever complain to the devs about because so many players love that aspect of the game and who am I to say what's fun for other people? Keep Creature Handlers around, keep them as THE elite profession, by all means make them able to kill Jedi... I'll have fun NOT playing as a Creature Handler because I don't like it's roleplaying qualities and I like not being the guy with the upper hand... just some dude with a blaster and a stimpack.
I'm not a hypocrite and I'm not interested in continuing this any further because if I've ever learned one thing it's not to argue with morons, because they drag you down to their intelligence level and beat you with experience... I'll pass on this one.

P.S. If you're going to insult somebody in writing you might seem a tad more credible when you don't misspell 8-letter words like "wielding"... just a suggestion for next time!

You are just so right I do apologize for insulting your mammoth amount of intelligence you have flowing through your brain, because I was typing too quickly and happened to slip up on one word you use that against me. And as I stated when did you see anyone else use those weapons for combat? Sure they were nice show pieces but did you see the royal guards attack anyone and hit them with their weapons?
And the fact that you were able to come up with this gigantic post to do nothing but state that you can't be dragged down by someone with a lower intellect because of one misspelling? You are sadly mistaken my slightly confused friend. Name me one time you actually saw anyone other than a jedi using their weapons for combat? Or when was the last time you SAW someone making a droid in the movie. My argument is that you are stating this class is not Star Warsy enough for you, well then you better be nothing but a human smuggler, wookiee rifleman, or a jedi. Unless you like the idea of dressing up in a gold slave girl bikini, because those your only options if you want to play the game true to the star wars feel.
Flame On!
And if I did happen to spell anything wrong... eh it happens when you type quickly. Deal with it.
Pet users are required in an MMO. It's a rule written somewhere or something. (joke)
Don't bring up grammar when flaming/defending yourself. It's bad form. Especially when you yourself use the wrong form of the word it's/its. The possessive form is "its", not "it's", LordGades. If you're going to debate, fine. You may have your opinions on everything. I respect them. We know what you're trying to say when you make a typographical error, and you know what he was trying to say.
Meanwhile, I felt this was a very useful post. Thanks all for the info. Not really necessary to make comments about creature handlers, but hey, whatever.
2 creatures or npc types that give me the most xp
atm i'm currently 0/3/1/2 on swordsman!!
nightsisters and rancors and singing mountain clan!!!
today was a funny day simply cause we were looking for nightsisters me and my buddy and up spawned a lair of rancors like 3 youths 2 bulls and 1 normal rancor.....
as soon as they spawned right on top of us i sent my sludge panther at the youth.... the second i did that the OTHER 2 youths ALSO started attacking the youth i was.... i was laughing so hard that i almost fell out of my chair.... not only did they help me kill my target but also helped me kill my next target which was the bull rancor!!!!! hahahahahahah then out of no where MORE rancor spawned there was like at least 10 or more there all beating each other up!!! it's funny in books and all this they say rancors are LOVING creatures to their own kind always caring for their young however they are all beating each other up in this game!!!
but it was a blast to kill ALOT of rancors fast and easy since other rancors are helping you slaughter the one your killing
they normally give me anywhere from 3.5 to 4.5k xp
nightsisters only give me 4.2k xp and now i have -5000 night sister faction and 5000 singing mountain clan ![]()
at some point i'll need to turn that around so i can have 5000 nightsister and -5000 singing mountain clan ![]()
once you get mind hit 1 with intermediate finesse, and the head hit from the techniques tree go to moenia on naboo, and go west. find fambaa, or falumpasets. the fambaa are a guaranteed 3200 + exp, and the falumpaset are a guaranteed 1100 exp. yes the fambaa do incap you once or twice a kill, but well worth the incaps. and the falumpaset are nice to kill as well. i also swear by the powerhammer. i am a battlemaster on the wanderhome server, i also have advanced finesse, and intermediate defense.
if anybody needs training in any of those skills, or any of the brawler skills (up to unarmed 3, one handed 2, two handed 4, or polearms 2 send a tell to Thrass, i reside near moenia.)
I'm at 4/4/2/3 right now and I have made most of my exp on Dantooine. I have my pets tank for me. (Uh-oh i guess I'm a bad person now). I try to focus on the Stalking Hurtons. They give me around 4k per kill and they die fast. Also a lair will only spawn 2 at a time so it is pretty easy to keep the agro in check. For each lair that I destroy i end up killing 6-7 at 4k + 4k for destroying the lair. Ifthis isa destroy missionI get 9.5k in credits. I avoid Bols and the Pikets as they are social and the targeted mobruns away from me and my pets. It is a real pain to chase then down while 5 others are pounding on you.
I have done the Yavin 4 thing, and Endor as well but I prefer Dantooine. I haven't been to Darthomir yet so I can't comment one way or another on it. Always avoid mobs that disease or poison. Vorinators have a AOE poison that is a pain. Especially when it poisons your mind pool.
If you are going to group you need to find stuff that cons red to you. If you want to solo you will need something to tank for you. I use a pet, but I suppose that a probot with armor might be able to do this as well. The key thing that I have noticed is that I have to stay as far away as possible from the mob to avoid getting agro. I rarely use specials other than beserk. Examine your target and avoid anything with medium armor and kinetic resists. They take too long to kill. I alternate between the cleaver, 2-h curved sword, and PH. I like a little variety. Plus the PH is blast damage, the 2-H sword is kinetic and the cleaver lookscool.
Keep on keeping on...
Just on a side note, it has been stated that in many of the star wars books approved by lucas that there are more instances of "creature handling". One of these being that the nightsisters ride Rancor into battle. So there is more to the universe then what they can portray in the movies, do to time and budget. I found this interesting, and of course there are also many more instances of creature usage. Granted it would not be as wide spread as in the game, but there could be a rancor walking lovingly behind its master.. or being ridden by their master.
Anyways, just some food for thought.
