a few days ago i got a holocron that told me to master swordsmen. now i must say...when i began the game one thing i swore i would never do is a melee class (except as jedi of course =)), so i was outright pissed. but being melee has changed my whole outlook on the game...right now im only at 2 hand 4 of the brawler tree...and let me tell you lol...im loving it. if i ever unlock...when i go to get my player back to where i like him i plan to have some melee in his skills...maybe master brawler..but thats besides the point. my post is a question of whats the fastest way to grind out xp to master...what can i expect..what delays and what not. what about this class is "broken" and what are good stats on weapns

i need a realistic timetable for mastering this prof as i ve hearevery thing from 1day..2 wks...a month to 2.5 months...yea...somoone apparantly did it in a day..but used that ancient ace...but i dont know if its true. any help would be GREATLY apreciated.

i know many people look down on us doing the dance of the holo and hoping from class but i have alrady grown form this expeirence. so nothing negative you have to say will have any bearing on me and my decision to holo hop professions. please if you dont have anythig to post here that is helpful...dont post.

thank you.

LoL. Not sure why anyone would "hate" a Holocron-Swordsman. Perhaps one of the haters could enlighten me?

Whenever a ranged class changes over to brawler, they always seem to have alot more fun. Ever since Holo's came out we've been getting posts from Holo Swordsmen exactly like this.

Anyway.. The fastest way to powerlevel any combat profession, is to get a Graul (if you dont have one yourself, get a master CH to help you), stand behind it and kill Pikets/Kamuriths/Voritors/Rancors etc etc.

You can read about all the major issues and borked Swordsman stuff in the "State of the Profession" sticky at the top of the forum.

You have to stand behind something to kill a Piket?

Before novice sword you "Kinda" need to hide behind something...be it a Graull, a Rancor, a Cowardly Gurrcat(SP), Some Doc buffs, or a Good old Nuron Pixie. And Even after it isn't raly a matter of Needing to just that it makes it quicker and safer.

As an "old time" swordsmand by choice, I find the whole holo thing pretty positive. People who dont care will powergame their skill quickly, unlearn, and won't have any long term effect, positive or negative, on our profession. And there is a small percentage of chance the person will actually like the profession, want to enjoy it ... and they are more than welcome

A pet helps. Medic skills help. Doc buffs helps a ton. Food and spice is a plus. Get a PvE armor (composite, although great for PvP, is not the best choice for PvE) with kinetic resist : advanced ubese, chitin, mabari are all choices with pros and cons.

Two handed curved sword is best at lower rankings, power hammer picks up the closer to master you get. Two handed cleaver has some good points too.

Get the techniques line first (throw in defense 1 during this progression, spin attack 2 is great in groups, maybe defense 2 for the nice post patch boost on defense), then rest of defense, then offense.

I started swordsman last Friday. It is now Thursday morning. I am 3-4-3-3. Probably around70 hours of play time. It was a pretty steady grind all the way through.

I am honestly loving swordsman. I was a BH 0-4-4-4, master pistoleer, and I am a Master CH now and this is by far the most exciting class to play solo that I have tried. I get pumped up with Doc buffs and use only 1 pet at a time, more xp for me, and Im having a great time. I will admitt it will be gone when the next holo tells me to move on.

You should probably try reading the guys question first. He wanted to know the fastest way for a Novice to level xp.

Nowhere did I say that I had to stand behind a graul to kill a piket.

I love swordsmen, unlike the carbiner ham cost are not that bad with the right stuff. Anyways, go to talus and grind on things called Torturs, make sure you have a tank,(atst-grual). With a good powerhammer and head strike you can kill these things in one hit and they give you about 2-3k exp depending on where u are with swordsmen. Missions are between 4300-4500 credits, take any missions that are w, sw, s, or se. I recommend staying out of the mountain area, cause it is easy to get in over your head quick in the mountains.
