I've heard that if I want to find good attachments I should kill NS but I can't seem to get any loot off them. Which ones should I be killing?

Really the way its supposed towork is that the higher level the mob the better the chances of getting some decent loot. However, after spending hours killing elders and having looted nothing more than a few credits, a satchel, a cargo pocket, some heavy duty clasps and numerous crappy lances i can safely say that the old "the harder the mob, the better the loot" isnt really true. Whilst Elders, on the rare occasion, do drop some awesome loot (high-end skill tapes, exceptional weapons etc), by far the better NS to kill in terms of getting loot are the slightly lower level NS's. I tend to search out spawn points for protectors/spell weavers/sentinels/stalkers as they have much better drop rates than elders and lower level NS mobs alike. I've looted a good amount of quality skilltapes from NS's but tbh its quite rare for them to drop SEA's. If you are hunting them then take an empty pack and expect to leave with an inv full of leather, clasps, shards, layers and dot lances and certainly don't expect to see too many SEA's.

Saying that, when they do drop SEA's they tend to drop rather nicely. However if it's skilltapes you're after then you may want to try getting in a large solo group and doing marauder missions on endor. If you take high level ones (99 or higher if you can get them) they tend to drop some quite nice loot. Or at least they do for me [on a side note if you decide to do this then you should really take some decentish composite as unlike NS's they tend to shoot at you a lot]

for exception weapons(or if u just like a lotta loot since spells have a GREAT drop rate) this is true

but outcasts and stalkers DO drop good tapes(i have a few friends who got +10) and me, well i got at best a -11 or so, but still i think that coulda easilly been a +11.

me personally since no force and whatnot, just get buffed, find the groups with 2 protectors 2 spells or so and some sentinals(make sure no elder, so many times i went afk with my area macro to return, not with dead bodies but with a dead me) and just target a protector, make a macro to spam area attack, and let em die. usualy they run away, so u gotta finish about half or so by hand, but thats np

Don't bother with Elders, they take a fortnight to kill and are no more likely to drop anything worthwhile than the lower level ones you can slaughter by the dozen.

True, the overall quality of the loot *CAN* be higher, but with the drop rates and bugs in the game you're just as likely to get nothing or an obsolete skill mod.

I killed one the other night and looted a whopping 2000 credits, whoop de doo.

So, you can get missions for marauder's if you can get grouped with people to pull a level 99+ mission? If so, and if you are MHS, then typically, how many others do you need to pull that mission?

Hmm its been a few weeks since i have done any as i've been levelling doc and nightsister farming for a while. The blood crazed plains marauder missions arent that hard to get (talking a 7 people solo group or a few ppl and a high level pet/at-st) but they start at something like level 64 or so. Im not sure whether other people also find this the case but i tend to find the better loot on missions with a higher difficulty level than what is normal for those type missions and tend to go with as high a difficulty as i can possibly get (let's face it they arent all that difficult anyhow as a MHS with good buffs and armour). Saying this you will need a much larger group to get the higher level missions 90+ and id say 10+ elite group members should be enough to get the missions (they are around 26k payouts if i recall rightly).

Getting in a large solo group is pretty easy these days and if you find little in the way of great loot on the marauders then the missions are an easy 50k+ each run and some have as few as 3 npc's per camp. Saying that i've had a few nice skilltapes from them including an Armour repair +7 tape. A guildmate of mine looted a pair of gloves with Armour Exp +4 on them a few days before. Tbh it sure beats the hell out of the tedium of killing NS elders who i keep killing in the hope i will loot something to make it all worthwhile and yet keep finding myself having the exact same reaction as WarFerret... whoop de doo.

Honestly, it seems to me that the only things worth killing these days are krayts, mid-level NS's and Marauders as the loot tables are pretty shocking. Then again i am a bit of a lootwhore... shame i never find anything that is of any use to me. Makes it almost tempting to do pikeman... well almost.

Loot is random, but the harder the NPC the better the loot.

My two best loots from elders

Skill tape with both +25 Droid Customization and +25 Rifle Crawl Speed

Horrible mods yes, but you see the potential..

and a belt with +25 Combat Medic Experimentation.

countless kills with no loots or just credits or crap too, it's just luck.

ya my best tape off an elder is +25 melee defense they are not hard to solo as a caped swordsman but like everyone else is saying their drop rate is not that great.

If you want to see a tape expect to kill around 40 and when you get a drop it will be a +25, maybe +23 at the least.

They can drop legendary and exceptional weapons.

Spellweavers and protectors can drop exceptional not sure about legendary but if you focus on them your loot will be alot better.

I got an exceptional DH17 off of a Protector the other the night. Might not sound like much, but anybody that has used carbines know's that the HAM cost is just sick!
