Right now it looks like the Geo caves won't open right away with the patch, so you have time to wait.
Basically you need to talk to Hedon Istee in Mos Entha initially. You will run 3 missions for him and for the final one you will receive a map. This map will lead you to where you can dig-up a Scythe schematic. However, a krayt will spawn on you and some people have ahd the schematic disappear after they died (i.e. they couldn't come back to get it) so you'll have to be careful.
The quest cannot be repeated in general although I believe that the devs added a person that will reset all of your Tatt quests once and it might be possible to use this person to do the quest twice.
The schematic must be used by a master weaponsmith. It requires 2 identical geonosian sword cores, carbonite steel and phrik alumnium. For the metals you will want high shock resist.
For obtaining Geonosian sword cores you will need to go to the Geo caves when they open. There are two options here. Firstly, the crazed geonosians and human critters in the caves drop sets of 2-8 or so Geonosian sword cores. These can be used as is although their stats tend to be nothing amazing (although I think there is a chance of obtaining some very good ones).
Another course of action is to have a master weaponsmith build the cores. To build these cores they will need neutronium steel, identical Geonosian power cubes and a Geonosian Sword core schematic (5 uses). These schematics and the cubes can be looted from Geonosians and the other human mobs in the dungeon.
Two things to note. First of all, not all power cubes are created equal. Yellow power cubes have a bonus to damage (best I've seen was +14/14) and red cubes have a bonus to HAM costs (possibly high enough to completely elimiate ham costs on the sword core). These are however very rare. I didn't find any in at least 10 hours so camping Geonisians although several sets have been looted on TC. Also, there is a slot in the Geonosian sword cores for an enhancement. You can loot Geonosian solidifying agent to use here. It will boost max damage. The best I have seen is +16.

for resources you will need:
Phrik aluminum -- for the sword (look for shock resistance)
Carbonite Steel -- for the sword (look for shock resistance)
Neutronium Steel -- for the cores (look for unit toughness)
each sword requires 2 cores. each core requires a power cube and an optional enhancement.

Can we have final verification on the materials we'll need, where we can get them, what we will encounter while getting it and who we need to talk to outside the Starport?
Much thanks! I may take the day off on Thursday to get this done!

How many scythes can be made with the scythe schematic?
I eagerly await the opening of the Geonosian caves. I did the three Mos Entha quests tonight and then stole the schematic out from under the krayt dragon that spawned.
