ok guys, i currently i have a sliced curved sword, 2.5 speed 73-324 dmg, 39% wound, +8 range mod...... and i have been looking for an upgrade, i like the power of the hammer, but the speed and ham seem rather discouraging to me.. Any opinions

They're both good in different situations, and at different levels of Swordsman.

a true master uses his cleaver

humm cleaver.. thats a new one for me.. i was looking at them, but all the ones i have seen are very ummm crappy.. if you can tell me where to get a good one it would be greatly appreciated

At first glance Cleavers do look crappy. But the low damage range (high minimum) and high accuracy mods make the weapon ideal for pvp.

The low ham costs are also nice when you can't find a master Doc to buff you.

I think cleavers suck

In PvP i use a Curved Sword that 2.5 spd and 311 max dmg

In PvE the Power Hammer rules supreme, plus if ur a Master, the range mods dont really matter

cleavers do rock but i can't find a good cleaver maker on my server cuz they the weapon smiths that do make melee weapons think that cleavers suck ass. i do miss my cleaver that did 300 damage after a slice i loved that thing.

but any way right now i use ph and curved sword in diffrent ocations. i just my ph on almost anything except when the person is a fencer cuz i can't hit them for **edit** still so i switch to the curved sword. i also use my curved sword vs storm troopers can man do they have a high resis to blast that i never noticed before.

Clever is better than 2h curved if your a master(or evennear master)because of your speed mods!

Power Hammer is better than everything IF you dont kill yourself using the specials because of the damage multiplyers with specials!

sorry a quick note I dont ever figure accuracy into if a weapon is good or not.

But IF you DO figure in accuracy...

Then Cleavers are the hands down winner

Example Master Swordsman has either 80 speed or 85 speed.

That would bring a Cleaver down to the max low speed just as easily as it would 2 hand curved

If your cleaver is good it WILL have a much better low damage and a very near to the same max damage, accuracy is so close to the same as 2 hand curved, the higher min damage to me means getting the most out of damage multipliers from specials.

I have a 1.7 speed curved sword I use right now, waiting for my speed mods to improve before going for the damage slice

At the very least, make sure and hit your bleeds with the hammer. I'm still undecided about the cleaver. I'm always buffed so HAM is never an issue for me.

Tatooine Sunburn is your friend...ESPECIALLY with a Power Hammer. Get a few crates every once in awhile and you're good to go. Drastically reduces your HAM damage from using specials with the hammer. I use the Hammer and ONLY the hammer, have not used any of the other weapons since I got certified with it.

actually i have been corrected.

the two-handed axe is even better than the cleaver.

basically the same weapon - you sacrifice about 60 max damage and trade in the -8 accuracy of a cleavert with the +11 accuracy of a two hand axe (the same accuracy VK's have - hint hint)

and accuracy is king - especially in these days of high defense mods, dodges, and armor.

if you want to hit you have to have accuracy - i'd rather hit 4 times in a row with decent damage than once with great damage.

powerhammers have a -30 which brings a master swordsman/master brawler down to like 105 - which is horrible in pvp. (and pve)

just watch in pve using a powerhammer - see how many times you miss.

curves are our worst weapon - the damage range is pathetic and the action cost is way way too hight for the sorry output.

yes the spd is good but once you master the speed tree in swords any cleaver or two handed axe will be just as fast.
