Good Question! 
when it comes to Elders I don't think much matters - defenses don't count, nor do counter/block, damage types are immaterial between the two profs in question.. Depends on what kit you can get hold of i guess - if you can speedcap either one, and the max dmg of your Hammers/T21's. Rifles may just shade it because of the Heavy AP, but Swords has toughness so doesn't get hit as hard.. (for now.. i think 
) I'd go with Swords, but Rifles would do equally as well i think.

Swords has Melee Mitigation+toughness, rifles has AP3. Your choice, but swords will tank much better.

once speed capped in both professions Im thinking swords
look at it at the acuracy mods. Most hammers point blk is -30 and im not sure what the t21 point blnk is. Iwouldthinking due to the less damage taken and the dps swords would be better. Although mind buffs and mind food are always used. Ithink mind cost is better onhammer then T21

Im both master rifles master swords oo yea with a master doc friend that comes with me on hunts works for me

I'd say swordsman+doc because rifleman+doc is completely out of melee miligation so he wont last long in melee combat and swordsman will easily over dmg rifleman doing concealshot thing.

Im MSwords/MDoc, no tapes, and I can say with 100% confidence that it sucks donkey nuts. I cant solo anything past a protector, Elders tear me up. I group with a MRifleman/CM, he can heal my mind, I almost died 13 times fighting an Elder just now. I died later on one with a stunner, dead befor I knew she had it, so he concealed it FASTER than the 2 of us would have been able to take it down together.
Im here to say that swordsman is a joke without speedcap, and thats about 36mil on corbantis. 18mil for a +8 ubese shirt heh. And thats just speed, after speed capping I could kill them solo 5x times faster about, except for the fact that they will STILL gut me like a fish befor then, so Id need counterattack and toughness tapes. So basically, if your a WS with ungodly credits, or have been a rifleman concealing long enough to have the cash to buy the tapes
Yeah, im more that a little bitter after reading the stories about Swordsman soloing elders without spending 40+ mil on tapes heh, no chance in hell.
Btw I know what im doing, im not an idiot. I use 52% pie, 2x brandy 1x ahrisa, full buffs+mind buffs, and synth, keep them intimidates 100% of the time, warcry them every 30 seconds, keep the bleed on, heal bleeds as soon as I get them, heal dizzy as soon as I get it, none of this matters.
I will alwayse die fighting an elder, its just not worth the money when I can drop 2mil on +6 rifle speed and do the same thing, faster, with less danger.
What a joke.

I have done it soloed one no tapes befor i got rifles it was a 40 min fight but i did it just came in intim warcy fight fight get bleed on me and than run heal do it over again lol got a 800 max NSL from it also

swordsman if definatley the way to go unless you have a partner to tank for you,then rifleman will hit harder

JavaHulk, many Swordsmen and women that post here have solo'd Elders, me included, and I've spent zero cash on speedtapes.. I found a +3, and have +12 FS Melee speed.. but I don't use the +3 currently as my best hammer is only 5.3 spd - it's not even an acklay one, only 632 max dmg - and i use that to solo Elders pretty regularly. MSwords/TKM/MBrawler with Medic 2xxx is all.. But with Swords/Doc you should really be able to beat most stuff into the ground. Dunno what's going wrong for you

I've tried both swords and then rifles when trying to kill elders and in my experience i find that rifles would be my choice. I can kill them faster (easier to speed cap) with concealshot and then strafing her when she agros then i could with swordsman. Also I tended to find that pulling elders from groups was a lot harder with swords then rifles.
Also with rifles, you dont actually need anything else in your template. I was soloing elders back when I was BE/rifles, mdoc is nice but not needed when you got rifles.
