4 hits and you're dead. Deader than a doornail. Dont tell me to get medic....I am MRifle/MSword/Medic 4040. Don't tell me to get a larger group. Been in a larger group. Group of 8 long-time, experienced players = Dead in Under 5 minutes. Dont tell me to take a Doc. Doc first one to die. Dont tell me to wear stun armor...I am. Dont tell me to take an Imp PSG....they get shredded in about .00003 seconds. Uber sooper dooper Defs from fencer dont help cause Elders hit you about 99% of the time anyhow...I know cause I have had every stacker temp known to man.

Biggest hit I took from an elder with a stun batwas 1800....NET damage....not gross. That's 1800 after armor/PSG etc. Loadsof fun. Also a real joy to be DeathBlown BEFORE you are incapped. Lots and lots of fun.

My only advice on Elders is thus: Send in a ginuea pig first....some one to run in, aggro the elder and see what kind of weapon she whips out. If it's a stun bat, tell you're buddy you'll wait while he clones/rebuffs and Run The Hell Away.

Force Powers? Pffft. Child's play. Fear the Bat. Im still having nightmares. Those 700 tic bleeds they are crackin off are no joke either.

A CM concentrating his healing effort on the tank (you) should do the trick.

That's the point of high-end groupfocused content, you need a group where the key professions are filled (healing, tanking & damagedealing).

This is very sad. SWG is turning into everquest, where you need to have 3 key classes in your group before you can be efficient : a tank, a healer , and a slower/mezzer . We are not there yet, but it is coming.
I thought SWG was great because you could do pretty much anything by yourself. Now I started worrying when they introduced the silly super battle droids with the corvette, and the the DWB.
Having to set up a group or to be lfg before you can do anything serious is no fun imo.

I'm not nearly in the same league, but I have a similar problem. I've been running the mission from the Jedi in the cave on Dantooine, because it's fun and a nice alternative to endless Janta dancing. You get to a point where you are dealing with a Force Crystal hunter and his pet savages. The savages are no problem, but wouldn't you know, the little devil is toting a Stun Baton. Only stun resistance I have is on my helmet (4%, fear me!) and PSG III with 15%. And to be honest, I'm not bothered so much that I cannot take this fellow down, but rather the manner in which the difficulty presents itself: his force powers are a joke (but pretty, getting shocked is worth the lightshow), but the fact that to land damage he's using a Stun Baton. I'd probably die faster if he lit up a lightsaber, but at least that would seem like I was tangling with a big bad Dark Force user. Instead I feel like I am being roughed up by the Emperor's Keystone Copper.

Of course, I am far from a combat-master template: Master Scout, Ranger 2-1(2)-2(3)-2(3), Swordsman 1-4-4-3, Brawler 2-0-4-0. Numbers in paretheses are the skills I can have as soon as I find a training; xp in hand, if you will.

The other thing this brought home to me, though, was that while there are plenty of groups and grouping on Dantooine, no one can really be torn away from their soloing group missions to help out some other fellow.

I actually like the idea of healers/tanks etc to take on high end stuff, but if they kill you before any healer could heal your, or the healer has to spam non stop heals to have a chance, its just dumb. I understand making these things difficult, but I think SOE goes nuts with their changes.

Hello,

im not a swordsman anymore but i still read the boards of my favorite combat profession.

One suggestion that i might throw in, as a now Bio-Engineer, why not take a pet as a tank...

They can have 100% resist to stun damage. They will be fairly high in level i guess, but as the purpose of a tank absorbing damage i think the idea of using one isnt too far of.

So look for a CH to tank and maybe you can still beat these NS-elders.

Happy travels

Thats the problem. I dont mind having to bring friends...hell grouping is something I think SWG lacks. However having to wait around for that "key" person or persons to log on so you can adventure and have fun is NOT fun. Waiting is NOT fun.

The bottom line is no matter what changes the DEVs have instore for us I wont mind any of them as long as it does not slow my play time down. Not everyone has 8 hours a day to play.

On the stun baton issue...well I was killed in a similar way this weekend. IWith as much time as it takes to:

1) Get your group all in one placed (shuttle times hinder this)

2) Get everyone buffed (more waiting)

3) Get everyone entertainer buffed (more waiting)

5) Find the NS Elders

6) Have one pull out a stun baton and wipe your entire group

Now thats loads of fun !

I dont mind dying to biting off more then I can chew. But thats just plan silly.

Guys, its simple, if the Eldar has a stun baton, just dont fight her...

move on to the next one, theres plenty more eldars in the sea.

And as far as soloing goes, i soloed one yesterday, she was using a Ryyk Blade so i was happy, but i wouldnt bother trying without doc in template/group, as sum1 said above, the bleeds hurt like hell.

ReCurve

also, Drive near her so she aggroes, then drive away /exam her to see what weapon she has.

OMG, my group had just finished coming out of the nightspider cave having fought all the sentinals and spiders- we got jumped by a nearby elder and she kills one of us for 4900+ dmg and manages to kill me for 3799 to my mind pool from about 15m away, man we were all slain within 10 seconds.

We're gonna stock up on stun armor and find her again.

I dont know much about how armor is made, but is it possible to create a suit of armor that is almost purely stun? for example, like 15% to kin, energy, everything else (i think comp has to have elec. resists..again i dont know much about it), but say 80% to stun?

I suppose if this was possible, super-pvp stun suits would be rolling out by now, or atleast a few people would be toting them. Another problem i forsee with this is the armor switch delay (blech). I dunno, just throwing out ideas.

Whoever suggested 100% stun CH pets might be an interesting tactic if you find a nasty stun baton wielding elder

Ok, I haven't seen one with a stun baton yet, but I got one with a ph the other night I took a cm, a doc, and a rifleman with me(I’m a mswords/mbrawler/fencer/tka/medic) I have a set of sliced composite all 85% + on blast and I was taking 2k hits. I ended up having the doc and cm healing me every hit while I wailed on the elder we got her down to about a 100k with me almost dead every other shot. She hit me twice real fast as intimidate wore off and I died, within about 20 seconds after that all the rest died. We did find another with a wood staff that couldn't do over 1200 a hit to me killed that one and got to split 5k credits....

Is all that reallly worth it to say that you killed an elder. Maybe it is for some but I just can't see myself having to die a few times and buy new chest pieces just for one elder and a few creds. jmo
