Thread: GRINDING SWORDSMAN
so the question, I'm going for master swordsman, surrendering master pistoleer, and keeping master creature handler. I'm wanting to know what the best way to level through swordsman is. I'm interested in the fastest leveling, which I assume will come from the offense line since it has area attacks?
I'm also interested in eventual PvP. I'm assuming headhit3 will be the shiznit for PvP?
thanks.
actuaually i wouldnt suggest getting the offense skills untill after you get techniques... because techniques is your speed, and what is a good offense without some speed behind it, also you get your head hits in techniques, which go quite nicely with finesse because of the mind hits which cause bleeding.
personally i went techniques, then defense, then offense... but as long as you have fun with the class it doesnt matter how you work up the profession.
Typically, a piket such as a Piket Longhorn will net me about 4k exp each. Combine that with a whole lair, which usually spawns 10-12 pikets, you're talking about 50k exp per lair. I just sick my pets, and follow them into battle, keeping in mind to stay at my 11 meter maximum range.
So far, with this method of pets and Tat Sunburns, I have made it to 3-3-3-3 in about 4 or 5 days. I need to get training now, so later I will be 3-4-3-3. Going quick.

charvakas if you will be getting most of the finesse tree right off the bat get techniques first, as those two trees are your speed and acurassy, then take either offense or defense after you obtain techniques.
okay. now I'm 0-1-0-3 and loving it. tonight I put away my creatures and went out to see what I could do on endor. I was soloing toxic merek battlelords and even some of the bigger blurrgs. just stack a couple mind bleeds then spam head hit 2 until dead. it's quite awesome. think I'll hit dathomir tomorrow and see if I can solo rancors.
thanks for the advice guys. I think I'll pick up the offense tree after I finish techniques off. I had to surrender my pistoleer pistol techniques line to get to where I am now, and I'm REALLY missing the status defense. it's so forign to me to get knocked down, posture changed, stuned, etc. I want my status defense back, I know the swordsman status d isn't as good as pistoleers, but at least it's something, gotta get up to third box in offense though, dang.
anyway I'm really liking swordsman. earlier today I dueled a friend of mine who is a fencer and pistoleer. first duel I blasted his mind out in 3 hits. second duel I stacked two mind bleeds on him, then he dizzied me, posture changed me and I fell down, but he didn't manage to kill me before I could stand back up, heal myself and pop one last head hit in to finish his mind, which was now at 1 pt because of the awesome bleeds.

uh wait...I have a question. If Finesse is combat xp why are you on the 3rd box of that and no other boxes? When I got my second finesse box i was 1/2/2/2? I think you are getting your boxes confused
so is the general consensus that one should go all the way up the techniques tree before doing offense? I guess it's a matter of taking on one single strong enemy at a time or several weaker enemies. in other professions the area attacks are the only way to fly in terms of grinding XP as fast as possible. I kind of expected that to be true here, but most people seem to like the headhits...?
My advice, wich will enable you to master swordsman in a couple of days:
Get defence 1 (spin attack 2)
Get 70% kinetic ubese
Go to Dantooine
Get huurton missions (howlers and huntresses)
Hit the lair first, this will spawn more mobs, stand in the middle and spam area attack
Do the skills in this order (or this is what I did) 001x, 041x, 441x, 444x. Stick with the 2h curved sword until you get master techniques.
When I do missions now (and have since I was 041x) I have on the most done 3 lairs in one powerboost (yes I am a tkm and master brawler also). So that is 50-75k xp in about 7 minutes (or something like that, not quite sure on the numbers).
I thought leveling tka was fast.. levelig swordsman is a lot faster ![]()
